I am not directing this at you but it somewhat bothers me that Holland said that statement. Holland knowing that Lidstrom's time was coming and that Stuart would most likely be gone so he signs Quincey? What a ******* joke. I mean I don't have a problem for Quincey but knowing both of those pieces are most likely going to be out of Detroit and you bring him in? Uhh okkkkayyy.

Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

whats so bothersome? he was working under the assumption he might need another top 4 D. quincey had established himself as that the last couple seasons. in his mind, quincey was a reasonable replacement for stuart. i don't think that was too far fetched when the move was made. (with how he looked once he got here it does bring that into question) replacing stuart isn't the problem, its trying to get suter as a replacement for nick that is the key.

oldie but goodie lol Maybe the mayan calendar was correct. No Lids, No Stewie, and keeping Hudler? But really we shouldn't panic, Huds will test FA where he knows he can get 5 mill from a poop team.

Likely well below what he'd get on the open market.

Would have been better if it were Doug Murray. Good luck, Stewie! Thanks for the great years you spent here. You've left us with a whole lot of highlight reel hip checks. A big hole has just been left in our defense.

Yeah Holland has his work cut out for him this off season. We've now lost 3 of our top 4 D-men in the last 2 off seasons and have only gained white and quincey. Suter is a must, but we're gonna need a second strong D-man to be brought in as well.

I really like Brad Stuart, on and off the ice. He's a quality player, and he will definitely be missed. We knew he was going, but it's still sad. I think he enjoyed being a Wing, although I am pretty sure he never, ever wanted to leave SJ in the first place. He was forced to, by the trade for Thornton, to Boston. So, he's back home with his family. We are poorer for the loss of him on our blue line - like we need to lose anyone else? - but I wish him all the luck in the world unless he's playing against us. Thanks for your services, Brad.

Brad Stuart's rights traded to San Jose

Agreed. I always thought Stuart was a great d man. I think moving his rights was Hollands first step in being more pro-active this off season. Glad we got something for him rather than nothing.. Can't wait to see what else happens this off season.

Stuart leaving is a bigger loss than most realize. He takes a lot of crap around here from some who fail to see just how good he was overall for four years here. Sure, he wasn't perfect, but there aren't many who come even close to great, let alone very good, and Stuart was without a doubt very, very, very good and a very important part of the Wings defensive puzzle over the last four years. Losing him and Nick in one fell swoop is rough. If Holland can't make some big things happen, we're likely to have a rough season ahead of us. Thankfully, for once, I think Holland knows he has to be more pro-active and aggressive than he's had to be at any point in his career. If ever there was a sink or swim time for the Wings management, it's now. Also, not expecting this pick to hang around for long. Whenever Holland trades for the rights of one of his big targets, this will be in the package no doubt.

Ugh, I knew it was coming but I really liked Stuart. He was a solid defender. Good luck in the shark tank buddy.

    Message to Ken Holland...

Holland is not offering anything for Weber. The plan is clear. SIgn Suter this summer and then sign Weber NEXT summer. Even if Weber did sign an offer sheet, Nashville would match. Offer sheets are as rare as a sensible post from richdg. All they do is negotiate a contract for the team which has his restricted free agent rights. RFAs are not really free agents. As in they are not really FREE. Like when Carolina signed Sergei Fedorov to an offer sheet in 1998. The Wings matched it. Carolina essentially negotiated the contract for Detroit. That is what an offer sheet for Weber would do. Poile would just match it. All NHL teams know this which is why there will not be an offer sheet made for Weber by any team. Teams will simply wait until he is a UFA next summer. Kenny will be interested.

I like our chances a lot if we can play 5 lines a game! Wouldn't we need to balance it out with 4 defensive lines though?

    Please Mr. I...

What on Earth could you possibly have against Budd Lynch? The guy has been a Wing for 63 years, is in the Hall of Fame, and loves hockey more than probably everyone on this board, combined. The guy is an absolute legend, and familiar voice to those who have been Wings fans for years. Besides, he's just the PA announcer, it's not like Erich Freiny is going to make any difference. But don't worry, at 94, he'll probably be gone before a new stadium is built anyway.

Since when were the Jets cash strapped? They had a $53,139,265 payroll last year with $11,160,735 available and with 15,300 seats that were full every night at the MTS centre, they grossed near the top of the league in revenue not to mention other sales. They've been back here in Winnipeg for 1 season, sold the most merch by far in the NHL this season and that's a confirmed fact and are currently in the process of contract talks and re-signing of players just like every other team in the league. Kane, Fehr, Mahachek, and Pavelec are RFA this summer. Slater, Glass, Wellwood, Stapleton, Jones, Flood and Mason are UFA. Currently, they have 14 players signed for $36,867,959 with $33,432,042 cap room with the cap set at $70,300,000. They need to resign Kane, Machacek, Slater, Wellwood, Stapleton, Flood, Pavelec and Mason. Grab a couple UFA from free agency in place of the others that need not be re-signed and they're good to go. Main points here: 1. Your posts have zero credibility cause you do no research and spew off the cuff bulls***. 2. The Jets are one of the best managed teams in the league with the entire city of Winnipeg behind them. 3. Players actually want to come to Winnipeg that aren't named Bryzgalov or Belanger cause of the excitement and the fanbase that makes the team feel at home. Kane will be signed for probably 5 years at about 4.5 per year by the Jets.

    My Trade Proposal

trade is quite lopsided toward the wings. for a second we can pretend they can afford to sign both stuart and hudler... theres still no guarantee either of them will sign. ryan is so much better then franzen and its really not close and if anaheim is trading ryan you can i can assume they would want to guarantee themselves more then franzen, kindl and a 4th
