I'll save you the trouble and provide the lines: 1 - Howard 2 - Gustavsson

Where's Babs going? To pack Hudlers's bags?

There's our splash! Shows over! esteef

I think its just talk... If he didn't want to make a major splash, he wouldnt be headed to Toronto and Illitch/Cheli would not be headed to Madison. Kenny knows he has tons of cap space. He did not become the best GM in the business by being stupid. I trust Ken Holland!

Shoulda figured. Everything old is new again with Holland.

Someone go ask Draper and Maltby to suit up while we're at it. I'm so sick of Holland's fetish for old wing players. I don't even know what line Samuelsson would fit on anymore...

Whether we sign either of them or not, you can't say they're not trying, and that's all we can ask at this point. Honestly, I think our slight decline (for lack of a better word) will work in our favor. There's more ice time and room for these players to be a huge part of the team now, and everyone knows Detroit treats their players well. It just depends really on what these guys are looking for and whether we can give it to them or not.

Maybe we should also send Carrie Millbank and Karen Newman with Holland and Alyonka Larionov with Illitch and Chelios.

Both of you need to stop your little bitching-fest. Frankly, its getting quite annoying. This isn't a battle of the cities thread, but a thread about the Monster signing in Detroit. Com'on people! Well I agree with you; that is the reason for his nickname.

Couldn't agree LESS. Macdonald is not a viable backup, he doesn't push Jimmy whatsoever and never will. Monster was 17-17-4 with gaa under 3 and save % over .900 last year for the worst team or one of in the league. He's only 27 and will actually push jimmy when he struggles. Great signing, absolutely no reason no to like this.

Not as worried about loosing Parise as I am about Suter, we NEED Suter, getting Parise would be nice, but there are other options available.
  13. 1 point
According to Pierre Lebrun the Wings are no longer meeting with Parise face to face, though they are still very interested.

Smokie! I called this a month ago. I like, I like.

wait, wait, wait... who'd they beat?

Great news. I doubt we'll see any decisions made today, though. I've been looking forward to the start of free agency, but that's all this is: the start. Could still be a long summer.

12-13 years, 100 million I think is fair for him considering his age and consistency. While I'm not a big fan of long term, stretched out contracts, in his case I think it's necessary. Other, more streaky players on the other hand......(*cough* *cough* FRANZEN *cough*cough*)

Sounds like you have a Razr, I've been rocking ICS since January on my Nexus! On topic, it would be a dream to land both, but like many I want Suter first as we have talent up front.

First time I ever heard us sending out a contingent of people to woo free agents. This must be serious. Why don't we send Gordie Howe?
  20. 1 point
Understandable about the raise and I don't think he's worth 2.3. With that said he was very important in our series. I'm just more surprised he was resigned before free agency.

I don't think Holland has the option of his "we're happy with what we've got" or "re-signing Helm was our free agent day pick-up" cliché crap this year because the team as it stands now won't make the playoffs. For once, he can't just sit on his hands and complain about everything being overpriced. There's no such thing as overpriced. Salaries have gone up as the cap has hyperinflated and other teams are managing to sign top players and be competitive so it's no excuse. There are no excuses, they've all run out. Make or break tomorrow. It should be exciting, at the very least.

Well then if Holland is serious, he'll just have to up that to $8M-$9M....longer contract...front loaded so he is making $10M-$11M a year for over half the contract... What Mr.I wants, Mr.I gets....all he has to do is feel slighted by Shero and the Pit owner and "Badaboom!" Parise will be his....along with Suter. IMO, though I could care less if Parise does not come here. Suter is more important, then Holland can focus on the Doan's around the league... besides if Holland lands Nash, we'll be saying Parise? Parcheesee? Pepperoni? Pimples? Who? BTW, it's nice that an "offer" leaked out, can anyone say tampering?

Well wingydingy....they need to sign 2 forwards and 2 defensmen. If they give Brunner that spot, then yes one forward, but you better believe it will be a top 6 rather than a bottom 6. 2 defensmen, sure they have Quincey as a RFA, but dump him and get Suter & Garrison...That will bring them to 23 players. When and if they keep Abby, someone (Emmerton or Mursak) will be bumped out. May as well go for Doan too and bump both of them or trade them in a package or just for some draft pick depth.... <SLAP> You watch your mouth!

Suter - Detroit Parise - Pittsburgh Hudler - Los Angeles Semin - Detroit Jagr - Flyers Schultz - Edmonton Garrison - Detroit

How stupid....it aint a hard decision....everyone is gonna offer you $7M-$9M dollars average, you just have to decide which offer to take....I know you don't want to make the wrong decision, but you just got to look at what's better for you. In Detroit you will be #1 on the Blueline, make just as much money here than there, you have superstars to play with here (none with noodles for brains) and you have a more consistent winning tradition and playoff appearances...The better coach, the better goalie, he is your Team USA teammate as well, the better owner...hindsight is always 20/20 but don't hols up anyone, because whichever team you go to, the others want to go on to plan B and if you delay then those plan B's will be gone....don't hold up either team, make a decision July 1st so the other's can move on.... I for one will be PISSED if Suter decides to wait a few days as the Garrison's get swooped up (not that he is a replacement for Suter, but is a backup plan) and then he chooses a different team leaving us with Quincey and Kindl to round out the top 6....HIGHLY PISSED!
