Has your opinion of kenny changed?

Who? Did you want to give up Filpulla, Smith and a first for Brent Burns? Did we even have a 30+ goal scorer to trade for Jack Johnson? Would either of those offensive minded defenseman really fit into the long term with this defense. To me there hasn't been defenseman moved that would insure the top pairing outside of Burns and Suter. Kenny did the reasonable thing and not deal away the future, and hope to sign a top pairing defenseman through free agency. He tried to get Suter, he just missed. If he missed on Enstrom, Yandle getting traded for scraps, or something else I'd understand the dissapointment, but Holland can't get people to move their top defenseman at will, Holland's put us in great position to have plenty of cap space, and assets. I'm very happy with the current organization and feel we have a lot of flexibility that other playoff teams would dream to have.

Create a lineup out of your most hated players that currently play in the NHL. J.Thornton-Crosby-Kesler Burrows-H.Sedin-D.Sedin Pavelski-Couture-Setoguchi Ribeiro-Lapierre-Cooke Pronger-Bieksa Chara-Ballard Orpik-Jackman I got annoyed just typing that roster.

    Martin Frk

So I attended the Halifax Mooseheads game vs. Baie Comeau last night and it was yet another entertaining game of junior hockey. Marty Frk really stood out and even garnered First Star honors. Frk has been really playing well of late and his shot is, by all accounts, already of elite NHL level. What has really impressed me though is the improvement in his skating from last year to now. I think were looking at a potential 40 goal scorer in the NHL if they ever play again.

because both sides have not negotiated in good faith during this process. off the top of my head players refused to negotiate in january when the owners wanted to and then they dragged their feet on putting forth proposals after their original offer in august. plus, you have don fehr showing up hours late to cba meetings and witholding/misleading information from the players regarding nhl proposals on the owners side they put forth an insulting lowball offer to start these negotiations with no concessions from the owners. They have at several times throughout this process refused to meet without preconditions. The nhl complained that the pa wasn't coming up with a proposal but when the pa finally did come up with a proposal, the nhl only took 10 minutes to reject all of them.

Someone please kick the effin midget out, so the players actually agreed to his stupid 50/50 and thats still not enough? If I were Fehr I'd ask them for acceptance of going nuclear and put this little undersized idiot to nuclear war, by proposing either accept the deal or create a luxury tax instead of the stupid cap system. Also I couldn't care less what people like Spector think. And all that crap because some very questionable teams are "losing money", rather have a 15 teams league without a lockout every 5 years and an antihockey guy ruining the show for everyone else.

This is how I see it: They (players) are looking for a new 5 year deal. (This is completly BS - they should more look at 10 years). According to Fehr (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=409972), the gap is about $180 millions. Now, let's divide the gap ($180 mil.) with 5 (years new deal) it's a differential of $36 millions per year. There are approx. 700 players in NHL, let's divide $36 millions by 700, we have a differential of $51 428,00 per player/per year. Average salary in NHL is about $2.4 millions (http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ycn-10423863) so I guess that $51 428,00 (a little bit more than 2% of their respective salary) is not that big deal... but then again, I'm just a hockey fan... who cares about hockey fans today?

It's sad this is considered hockey news right now.

http://inuvikphotos.ca/2012/11/21/nhl-hockey-players-visit-inuvik-part-2-the-exhibition-game/ Jordin Tootoo along with 9 Ottawa Senators held a small game to raise money for youth sport programs. Tootoo scored the first goal of the game.

Doesn't mean you don't bring someone in. And I don't mean Carlo Colaiacovo.

No. I think he did pretty well, considering that he lost his #1 #2 and #4 defenseman in just one year... Most other GM's would have destroyed our depth at forward and sacrificed our teams future to rebuild the defense through trades. I'd rather not lose anyone or our picks, and wait for Sproul, Ouellet, Marchenko, DeKeyser, and McKee to age up. Wouldn't say Ken was entirely unprepared either... 50% of our drafts picks over the last 2 drafts were D-men. Considering Kenny's style (building through the draft opposed to building through trades) I'd call that preparation. Anyone who knows Holland knows that the CBA also influenced his decision making. Although it was probably his most aggressive off-season, he still played it close to the vest and didn't tie up all our money. Minny's "Big Win" is going to be their biggest mistake when the cap drops. Goaltending: Fixed Weak Bottom Six: Fixed Sniper: Likely fixed (Brunner) Weak Defense: Addressed, but not fixed (Q and Colo) He addressed all of our needs and didn't blow up the team. If he had landed Suter (at a reasonable price) this off-season would have been an A+ performance. However that was clearly impossible, so it seems he did the 100% best he could. I'm happy with that. Plus he gets 10 bonus points for ditching Hudler

This is exactly how I feel about it also. I don't blame him for not landing either player, but I do blame him for not preparing better for the future. The only good news that can come out of a cancelled season this year is next year's pool of free agents will come and we still have the money to spend. A few competitive teams put themselves out of the bidding war by dropping $$$ on FAs this offseason.

Exactly. I'm not mad at Holland for not getting Suter in the bidding war. I was disappointed he put the team in the position where he had to go for a hail mary like that. Add to that giving up a first rounder to get back a player he gave away as a stopgap move for Stuart's departure.

Was totally unprepared for Lidstrom's retirement. Shouldn't have had to jump through hoops for Suter in the first place.

Holland did the best he could this summer. Can't fault him for Suter choosing to play elsewhere. My complaint will always be with Holland's lack of action in the years leading up to this off-season. Rafalski was a surprise retirement, but everyone knew Nick's days were dwindling and Stu was going back to California.
