Cleary is terrible. He always falls down on the ice every shift.

Cleary on the 2nd line makes me want to kill something

Howard being mediocre again. Guy goes down more often than a pornstar.

Hard to feel bad for such a dirty scumbag like Wisniewski.

The goalie is only as good as the team and system in front of him. Why else do you think Hitchcock has a Vezina candidate every year? Coindence? What goalie do you want? Lundqvist, Rinne, Kiprusoff, Hiller and Miller are both "elite goalies" that have worse stats then Howard even though he's been mediocre. Honestly a goalie isn't going to be elite without a great team/system in front of him. Unless you are talking about Hasek, or seemingly one year wonders like Mason, Smith etc.

How can Nyquist and his skill still be in the minors when Bertuzzi and Cleary are here in prominent roles? That's inexcusable. There's a spot for Nyquist playing top-six minutes if they cut the dead weight out.

Clearly he is this teams biggest issue

I didn't see, i just saw the replay. he isn't playing now and he took a big hit. thank god. id much rather have him out with a shoulder than have a concussion like eaves RtooDtoo needs to blow someone up.

I think that happened when the Lockout ended.

Goodness, I hope he's ok. Never want to see a player get injured, much less as badly as this looks.

    Goalie proposal

KH: -dialing - *ring ring* CO: Hey, Ken! What's up? KH: Um.. well.. this is kinda awkward. Um, are you busy for the next few months? CO: We tried this before and then I had to bail Hasek's ass out in Nashville. Remember that? *rubs Stanley Cup ring* KH: Um, yeah. Well, you see, we signed... CO: (interrupting) A guy who's injury prone? KH: Yes, and you see the guy on the bench, well.. LGW forums have no confidence in him. CO: Still trolling that place? KH: Yes, it's a guilty pleasure - you know, like watching Honey Boo Boo. CO: Whatever. I'll pick up Drapes and Malts and I'll be there in 30. KH: Um, Chris, about Kirk and Kris. We kind of have a *mumbling* log jam at forward. We like our team. We kicked the tires but no one was available. CO: *sharply* What? KH: Nothing. See you in a bit.

Murph needs to visit Dr. Rhamani immediately.

If Kronner keeps interfering, he's going to get the nickname "mother-in-law". The penalties are getting a bit excessive.

Absolutely the right call to make. I'll take the two points, but I definitely feel that the bad penalty call cost the Blues their chance in that game. Over the course of a full season, though, I have no doubt the Blues will be on the better end of questionable calls. Glad the NHL realized their mistake, and made sure that Backes doesn't get an undeserved black mark on his record.

NHL rescinds match penalty to Blues' Backes

I will take the win, but man that was a bad call that gave us the game. 3-3 tie with 9 to go, and the refs gave us a 5 min PP on a phantom call. The down side is, sooner or later the same will happen to us.....

    Emmerton

emmerton is a nothing player, but he's not been the worst guy on the team or anything. serious question here: what, exactly, would dan cleary need to do to get benched? i mean...when is enough enough?

    Emmerton

My problem with Emmerton is that he is not noticeable. I want energy players on my fourth line who crash, bang, and irritate. Emmerton is about as irritating as fleece.

Emmerton has been basically what I expected. A marginal skill player in a bottom-six role that doesn't provide much of anything. He's a decent skater and can be used on the PK, but beyond that he's filler until Helm is healthy. I would prefer a 4th line center that hits, forechecks and is physical instead. Abdelkader does all of those things more effectively at wing.

I must be the only one who liked what I saw from Chris Conner when he was here. He had more jump, had better speed, through more hits, and was more effective on the ice than Emmerton, Mursak, and any of the other guys rotated up for a few games. The guy was flying. As much as I like Clears, Conner was more effective. If Abby isn't going to score once in a while on Helm's wing, then I think a fourth line of Conner-Abby-Toots could be really effective. Other than him getting injured, what am I missing?

Increases his trade value.... Honestly though, if this wasnt stuck with Sammy and Cleary, I think Emmy would make a solid 4th center with Eaves and Miller. That would make our third line Abby-Helm-Tootoo.

    Wings need a PP QB?

Put Ericsson on the point. He does have a hard shot, so maybe he's finally learned how to aim.

Not to derail the thread, but the over-ripen strategy is something that I believe we will begin to see less of as the seasons go on. The main reason we had the luxury of leaving prospects in the minors for so long was because we could go out and have our pick of the litter free agent wise. Although we have a lot of money this summer, once the new CBA goes into effect (knock on wood), I do not see how we can continue to prolong the strategy of waiting until 24/25 years of age for our prospects to finally have more than a cup of coffee in the show. Anyone else thinking this could be correct? Opinions to the contrary welcomed, as always. Just sort of thinking aloud.
