http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130311/SPORTS0103/303110350 "I go through this time and time again with the players, with the media, with everyone — the players decide who plays, not me. If you play good, you get to keep playing (and) if you don't …?" LIAR...YOU'RE A LIAR. Exhibit A: Dan Cleary Exhibit B: Tomas Tatar There is so much contradiction in that sentence, I want to throw up.

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

It's late and to the head. Nothing "good" about that. Perry's got a douchebag rep too. Thumbs down. esteef

Great, I guess you like first round exits.Well the Wings have a special going on this right now...comes with a side of molasses that Dan Cleary puts in his skates before every game.

    Mikael Samuelsson

It's a sad day when we hail the second coming of Sammie as our savior over Abs and Cleary. But that's where we are....

Well when he says blatantly false stuff like this he gets what he gets.

It amazes me that anyone thinks he's somehow useful. We could find a grinder out of the minors that could put up similar numbers and play just as hard on the forecheck. If he's waived, this team will lose nothing, even if he's picked up. Insignificant distinction. If he's talking about rewarding players by putting them in the lineup, the same should go for where they play in the lineup. Guys like Cleary, Abdelkader and Quincey have been rewarded with icetime they didn't deserve. Your second line should not be a primarily defensive (checking) line. That's what it was for about 6 or 7 games.

total BS. see Abdelkader or better yet, see Franzen. He decided to play in the playoffs 4 years ago. that seems to have earned him quite a lengthy leash.

    Nick's Sons

Kevin is 18 now and I assume that if he was an elite prospect we would have heard about it now. But, does anyone know much about him and his brothers? I cant seem to find any info. I also found it interesting that Nick has 4 sons while Stevie has 3 daughters. Has it occured to anyone else that we should get these kids together so they can mate and create some kind of super-human hockey player?

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

Late, dangerous hit to the blindside. I don't like Perry. The allowance of hits on players who have passed away the puck exists so as to take into account the hitter's momentum toward his target. It isn't always possible for a player to pull up after his target gets rid of the puck. In this event, there's no question that Perry had time to veer off before coming into contact. You'll find few people here, fans of Perry included, who aren't aware that the guy is a complete and utter d-bag.

Ya, I said in my first post yesterday that the only way I would be ok with dealing our 1st is if we got a their 1st back (which should be a lower pick, but with the players available, we should still get a nice player.) But I agree, I do not want to just give our 1st away either... You are correct about the $6 and you may be right about the $8, but as soon as Holland realizes he needs to spend real money to get real talent, then this team will start it's turn around much quicker. Enough overpaying old guys and low balling the guys we actually need...

Nyquist called up, Tatar sent down

Disagreed. This is a business. Losing assets, big or small, for nothing is not smart. I agree we need to dump our filler guys, but doing that through the waiver wire is bad business. Tots will get some heavy ice time in the minors (which is good) and play there until room is made for him through trade. It's the classic dumb hockey move, but smart business move. At the end of the day business trumps hockey. Playing Tatar now and losing other guys through waivers helps us in the short term but hurts us for the next 10 years when we get nothing in return for them.

I think the question is, would you be willing to give that up for Perry if he comes here, plays 13 regular season games and the Wings miss the playoffs, or make it in and lose in the 1st or 2nd round and then he walks in the offseason? I personally am not big on that idea.

wow....what the #CK does a dude have to do to stay on this team? Tatar has been much more than anyone anticipated and yet he gets yanked. I dont care if its to see what Gus can do...he has played a way onto the team and has been better than at least half the roster. Its completely idiotic

Good move Kenny. This will give Tatar time to overripe.

I don't think you'd find anyone better right now than Babcock. Sometimes I've wondered whether his message is wearing thin with the players, but then the team will snap back and play better hockey. There are some things that frustrate me though, like hearing him say the same things over and over, like "we have to start better", "we have to play a full 60 minutes", "we have to be better prepared", "we have to work harder"... well, what happens when the bad habits continue game in and game out? NOTHING. Same guys, same roles. If Franzen is lazy, scratch him. Or bench him, make him dress and sit on the end of the bench all game. If Cleary is hurt (last year), sit him out for 2-3 weeks and let him heal, he couldn't have gotten any worse. If Howard has played all but 4 periods this season and will probably wear down like he kinda did after playing just about every game late last year, rest him. Mrazek is here for a reason, to play. If he's not going to play, tell Holland to bring McCollum or Pearce up. Maybe ream a guy publicly, even though it's not his style. Something's gotta give in those situations. That said, the team's record and performance to date are better than I had expected. Not that I thought they'd be 0-13 or anything like that, but they do show flashes of being a pretty good team.

I don't like his line choices. Anyone can see Cleary needs reduced ice time, not a promotion and increased icetime. Abdelkader is a plug and has no business being moved up in the top 6. His only message is work harder? How about work smarter? He's a good coach, but his decision making is suspect.
