It amazes me that anyone thinks he's somehow useful. We could find a grinder out of the minors that could put up similar numbers and play just as hard on the forecheck. If he's waived, this team will lose nothing, even if he's picked up. Insignificant distinction. If he's talking about rewarding players by putting them in the lineup, the same should go for where they play in the lineup. Guys like Cleary, Abdelkader and Quincey have been rewarded with icetime they didn't deserve. Your second line should not be a primarily defensive (checking) line. That's what it was for about 6 or 7 games.

Now defense is the most important thing for our top 2 lines? I thought scoring came first? Abby is so good defensively he DOES NOT play on the PK, so I don't know where Babs is pulling this "he's better defensively" crap from. And do we really have these defensive line matching worries against teams like Columbus? Seriously? Chicago I can see but the Blue Jackets? Come now. Putting Nyquist immediately on one of the top 2 lines, while a good idea, is a total slap in the face to Tatar who proved he should've been moved up over Cleary and Abby many games ago. Ian White plays like crap and is benched for 6 six games, Cleary plays like crap for weeks and gets moved up from the 2nd to the 1st line? Our prospects are going to start going the way of free agents in that Detroit is losing its luster for a potential destination. The "overripening" strategy is making less sense these days with the scrubs we continue to sign and ice over proven talent. esteef

andddd someone just proved they haven't watched red wings hockey this season. "ALL the time?" when the hell did and has this gone down? He's played in 3 games and has 1 point (14:17, 12:28, 15:37 ice times). He has a grand total of 3 shots on goal. So out of the 26 games we've played, he's played in 3.... cranking him up to 08.6% of our games played. So how is it, a guy who has only played 8.6% of our TOTAL games magically getting special treatment by Mike Babcock? Lol...... BABCOCK STOP PLAYING SAMMY!

I'd rather see Cleary go on a permanent vacation and keep both.

We have zero idea how the conversation or things go in the office or front office. Tatar easily could've gotten the best explanation, has no hard feelings, and can't wait to get back to the show. We as fans, always have the luxury of looking in from the outside, which we just make up our own assumptions which 75% of the time, they're negative and unwarranted.
