http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130311/SPORTS0103/303110350 "I go through this time and time again with the players, with the media, with everyone — the players decide who plays, not me. If you play good, you get to keep playing (and) if you don't …?" LIAR...YOU'RE A LIAR. Exhibit A: Dan Cleary Exhibit B: Tomas Tatar There is so much contradiction in that sentence, I want to throw up.

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

It's late and to the head. Nothing "good" about that. Perry's got a douchebag rep too. Thumbs down. esteef

It amazes me that anyone thinks he's somehow useful. We could find a grinder out of the minors that could put up similar numbers and play just as hard on the forecheck. If he's waived, this team will lose nothing, even if he's picked up. Insignificant distinction. If he's talking about rewarding players by putting them in the lineup, the same should go for where they play in the lineup. Guys like Cleary, Abdelkader and Quincey have been rewarded with icetime they didn't deserve. Your second line should not be a primarily defensive (checking) line. That's what it was for about 6 or 7 games.

total BS. see Abdelkader or better yet, see Franzen. He decided to play in the playoffs 4 years ago. that seems to have earned him quite a lengthy leash.

    Perry hit. Thoughts?

Late, dangerous hit to the blindside. I don't like Perry. The allowance of hits on players who have passed away the puck exists so as to take into account the hitter's momentum toward his target. It isn't always possible for a player to pull up after his target gets rid of the puck. In this event, there's no question that Perry had time to veer off before coming into contact. You'll find few people here, fans of Perry included, who aren't aware that the guy is a complete and utter d-bag.

You do know our biggest problem is not having a #1 Defenseman, right?

Nyquist called up, Tatar sent down

Brown over his last 66 games (2 seasons): 6 pts, 153 hits Cleary last years 75 games: 33 pts, 90 hits Abby last years 81 games: 22 pts, 148 hits Miller: last years 80 games: 25 pts, 79 hits Abby looks identical minus the fighting. Cleary is a great secondary scorer with half the hits. Miller had only 79 hits but he more than quadrupedal Brown's scoring. Cleary can PK, PP, skate, add work ethic, and a little scoring (thought he's been slow to start this year) Abby can PK, hit, and skate Miller, can PK and skate just to say all 3 can PK effectively is worth a 7th rounder to someone out there IMO I'll say I would never have asked a 4th rounder for brown though. great fighter, but that's overpriced

HE'S PLAYED 3 GAMES AND A TOTAL OF 8 MINUTES ON THE POWERPLAY How is this criticism even happening, I understand if he's had the most powerplay time on the team or something, but he hasn't even had the opportunity to fail yet.

    Wings and others after Perry....

No way in hell the Ducks deal him to a team in the West first of all. Second of all theyre playing too well to trade him. Thirdly Tatar and Andersson wouldnt be enough to get Perry. It would take at LEAST Nyquist and Smith plus a first rounder.

Should be keeping Nyquist, Tatar, Andersson in the lineup. Franzen, Datsyuk, Nyquist Zetterberg, Fillpula, Brunner Tatar, Helm, Eaves Tootoo, Andersson, Miller Abdelkader That should be our lines. Speed down the middle, and scoring on the wing. The only thing they lack is size and hard physical play on the top 2 lines. in 82 games your top 2 lines should be responsible for at least 120 goals. Bottom lines should be responsible for at least 40 goals and somewhere around an even plus minus. The defense, goalie, and heart of the forward lines should be responsible for wins.

Kane's move is so jacked up. I can't stand watching them in shootouts because of his bs.

    'Top Pairing D-Man

I can't remember who said it but pointed out that the loss of Lidstrom and Detroit's generally less talented blueline not only affects the defense. The forwards will struggle because the puck is not being moved up ice as effectively. It's definitely true. Defensively they've looked better, but they're still struggling to break out of their own zone and establish themselves in the offensive zone effectively. Lidstrom is obviously a huge loss in that department, but I think the loss of Rafalski was a huge blow that's now more visible since Lids is no longer there to pick up the slack.

Why do you always think that we need star players? When you have star centers you don't also need star wingers, you need quality wingers who can support Datsyuk and Zetterberg and provide supplemental scoring. James Neal and Alex Burrows aren't star wingers in their own right, they're quality wingers who have big success because they play with elite centers. That's what we need here. The equal but opposite is also true, if you've already got star wingers, then you can use quality centers to support them. In the salary cap world it's nearly impossible to have both of any length of time. Teams that have both, like Chicago, are an anomaly.

Babcock: Is he the right guy going forward?

Babs benches the 3rd and 4th lines when things go wrong and we get down. Im not a fan of this. Im mor a fan of sitting the grinder (Abdelkader) on the 3rd line and fighter (Tootoo) on the 4th line and double shifting your 2 best guys (Zetts, Dats). Noone is saying "why is Z playing so much?" right now. People are wondering why Cleary is playing so much.

My biggest problem with Babcock is that he believes that with just the right type of reshuffling/juggling/will power, ANY player can be effective in pretty much ANY role. And once he's got that in his head, he refuses to let observable evidence stand in the way. Babcock: Johan Franzen can be a top flight winger if he'd just try harder. Reality: Franzen is a good complimentary scorer as proven by the fact that his best years were when Zetterberg and Hossa were the dominant wingers. Babcock: Abdelkader can be a third line scoring winger if given some time and consistent line mates. Reality: He'll never ever produce points at the NHL level, and is best in a banging and crashing role. Both Eaves and Miller are better scorers at the NHL level while still maintaining defensive responsibility. Babcock: Filppula can be an effective winger in the NHL if he would only shoot more. Reality: Filppula still won't shoot, even as a winger, and he had a career year last season because he was paired with a shooting center. Few of Flip's goals last season were the result of his shooting more, most were the result of rebounds, breakaways, or odd man rushes. But still, I wouldn't fire Babs. He just irritates the hell out of me sometimes.

Babcock: Is he the right guy going forward?

Babcock has to play the guys Holland signs, so I dont point the finger at Babs too much. We have a trio of old softies (Bertuzzi, Cleary, Samuelsson) that need to be axed. But the coach cant just make the GM look bad. Babs has to play who Kenny brings in. If Babs has a big part in those signings, then thats another story.
