    Boston Bieber Proofs Locker Room

I laughed so hard when I read this that I had to share it. Bieber is disgracing Canadians everywhere. Enjoy! http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1711479-boston-bruins-bieber-proof-their-locker-room

I hope the Hawks don't win a cup again for 50 years and everyone will be afraid of the "Great Bieber Curse."

    Boston Bieber Proofs Locker Room

Bieber more or less justified his bad reputation in the finals. He was wearing a Bruins at their home games, then morphed into a Blackhawks fan after the latter won the Cup. And all of this was despite his allegiance actually being to the Jets.

This was inspired by me and GMR jesting in another thread about how important Dmitri Bykov was to Lidstrom's 3rd Norris trophy, and it got me thinking to the um, variable, quality of his partners, particularly in his Norris years. So here is my attempt to compile a season by season list. I do require you guys help to fill in the gaps in my fading memory. Please note I am not looking for every partner he played with that year, just his main even strength partner. Names in Bold are Norris years, names in Italics indicate a career year for that partner. 91-92: McCrimmon 92-93: ?/Coffey? 93-94: Coffey? 94-95: Bettman / Coffey (won Norris) 95-96: Coffey 96-97: ?/Murphy 97-98: Murphy 98-99: Murphy 99-00: Murphy 00-01: Dandenault 01-02: Olausson 02-03: Bykov 03-04: Schneider 04-05: Bettman 05-06: Schneider 06-07: Markov 07-08: Rafalski 08-09: Rafalski 09-10: Rafalski 10-11: Rafalski 11-12:White Have at it guys, I'll edit this post with updates and corrections as we go. Thanks

    Each NHL Team's Mount Rushmore

Indeed. Even better than putting Manon Rheaume out there for Tampa.

    Brunner Contract Talks

I think you missed the point. Can do and will do are different things or there would be no draft mistakes. Brunner can be a legit 25-30 goal guy. He might not do it though.

    Brunner Contract Talks

Can't blame Holland neither. He has two prospects(Nyquist and Tatar) as good as Brunner that were busting their ass in the AHL for years just to see the 3rd line minutes. Brunner is a good player no doubt, but to guarantee him top 6 spot after an inconsistent season would send a bad message to the rest of our prospects group.

It's about honoring the biggest names in the game's history. I would say all four of these players are well respected, so as to not offend teams. Personally, I wish they went back to the second option I posted. But many people have complained that those names weren't well known to people outside of hockey circles, so that's why I proposed Howe, Gretzky, Lemieux and Orr. Anything is better than the Metropolitan division.

Yeah, I mean I hate him as much as the next guy, but they only included him in the ad because we've had a rivalry with the Penguins for years, and now we'll be in the same conference playing each other 3 times a year.

    Brunner Contract Talks

Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Jarnkrok, Sheahan, Pulk and the rest of their prospects are the long term solution.

Should have been Gretzky, Howe, Orr and Lemieux Or go back to Adams, Patrick, Smythe and Norris.

I am going to be as clear as possible here: When visiting the OFFICIAL detroitredwings site I don't want to see pictures of players not wearing the winged wheel, especially the official NHL BFF team including Sindy. Also like others said the promotion is very poorly done, I am looking at the header from this site and it is miles above this poor promotion. Promote your own players and by doing so at least put a little photoshopping love into the whole thing, embarassing and very poorly executed. Going to the DRW site and seeing pictures of other players is feeling wrong at so many levels. If I'd like to see a picture of Chara or Gaborik I'd visit the sites from Boston or Columbus. BTW not using the only Rangers Star King Lundqvist is just another nail in the cofin, the Amwaylogo at the end fits this crap perfectly..

I couldn't help but notice... (rant)

Y'all need to get over your Sidney Crosby/Gary Bettman inferiority complex. Not a huge fan of either one, but I don't get the venom spewed for either one, especially Crosby. Other than being really good and playing for the team that beat us for that 5th Cup, I don't see where he's done anything all that wrong.

As previously stated when they mentioned "original six" matchups, it wasn't in reference to the pictures, it was in reference to the sentence before when they explicitly discuss Toronto, Boston, and Montreal. Which are, indeed, original six matchups. It's a very poorly put together promo, but you guys are reading a little too much into it. They're hyping the original six matchups specifically in reference to the teams they mentioned, Toronto, Boston, and Montreal. The rest of the ad is an attempt to inform fans that Detroit will host all their main rivals, including the teams pictured, at the Joe this year.

I didn't read it as a funny comment. I read it as a serious valid point and a real consideration, as well as a poignant commentary on the state of the infrastructure over there, including significant aspects such as emergency medical preparedness at rinks, player medical coverage in general, etc. Especially coming from F Michael; dude is usually spot on with his insights.

Or get rid of the instigator rule. Bring back the Proberts and Browns.

I think the Tigers and the Lions beat out the Wings. I don't think its always been like this. I'd say the Wings were #1 in the mid/late '90s. After the core of the dynasty years faded away, I think fan interest decreased a bit. Folks were so used to guys like Yzerman, Shanahan, and Fedorov. Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Osgood, Maltby, Draper, McCarty, Lapointe, etc are all gone. This team had such a great core and team chemistry and had guys that played very long careers in Detroit. It's tough for many fans that grew up with these players (myself included) to see their childhood favorites move on. Also, I think a lot of people related to guys like Kocur, McCarty, Draper, Maltby, and Lapointe not because of where they were born, but the style of game they played. It's no secret that Detroit is a working class city. People like to see hard work, grit, and snarl that is central to the culture of a beaten up working class city like Detroit. There's a reason Darren Helm got popular so quickly upon his arrival in the NHL. Having players with ties to the area always helps, but its not necessarily compulsory to gaining the team popularity.
