Anyone else bugged by us being "like" Chicago, even though Chicago copied us?

Damn shame, he's looked good so far too. Hope he steps into that kid the next go around. I keep waiting for Kindl to figure out that he's huge. Kinda like Jiri Fischer did.

Cleary's been reading LGW. Figured he'd better do something to placate the masses.

B-b-b-but I thought the East is a big, scary, monster that's going to steal our lunch money and fondle our women folk? I know it's a preseason game and all. But I ain't afraid of no ghost.

I think they have a cardboard cutout in the Boston net.

If it's Lundqvist, then I'm okay with it.

Hasn't Chris been the de facto decision maker for Ilitch Holdings for quite a while now? I know Mike and Marian write the checks, but if I'm not mistaken Chris has been the go-to guy for a few years. If so, it's basically just making the situation official in spite of the fact that it's been the reality for quite a while. Edit: Just looked it up, Chris is the President and CEO of Ilitch Holdings and has been since 2004. So I wouldn't worry too much about any changes to the way the team does business.

ESPN has no credibility when it comes to hockey. So anything with the their tag, I take with a grain of salt.

So....did Cleary just take Tatar's spot?

Welp, Holland just openly said on TV that Tatar will be on the roster. Case closed.

ESPN Future Power Rankings: Red Wings #2

I'm not sure why you're acting surprised that ESPN is vastly off-base. ESPN neither knows much nor cares much about the NHL. Last year Edmonton was #3 on the ESPN preseason power rankings; this elicited laughs even from members of that organization.

Yay, Tatar will be on the team!!!

For everyone upset about Abby being on the first line, are you watching him pull that piano?

I can't believe I'm saying this, and it IS preseason, but Abdelkader looks like he has some jump.

    1. That's fine. We'll keep the team that signed an over 40 Modano and Alfredsson. You're more than welcome to cheer for someone else. 2. Actually, an idiot would say "And only an idiot would say 'Alfie gives us more leadership'," because Alfie does give us more leadership. He was the captain in Ottawa for like 13 seasons. It is a true statement. Whether the Wings needed more leadership or not, he provides more. There's nothing idiotic about truth. 3. Just because people don't think the way you do does not mean they are not thinking.

    Pulkkinen Scheduled for Hearing

While past performance does not guarantee future results, I think the league is going to "Brendan Smith" him. I'm expecting the same suspension Smith got in 2011 which would be the rest of the pre-season & 5 regular season games. And like in Smith's case, I wouldn't be too surprised to see the AHL maybe not match the 5 games but suspend him for a couple/few. Non-star player+preseason game=NHL will send a message Same hit from a "name" player in March=Game misconduct and maybe a one or two game suspension on top of that

    Abdelkader

...You shouldn't have either on your top line

OK. So. I should start by clarifying a couple of things. Firstly, by "Penguins Nation" I basically meant Pens fans. So, my point was that the Bruins humbled the Pens' fans (on the whole), which - and I guess I was being just a tad facetious here - is almost as difficult as winning the Cup. So, props and kudos to them for that. Secondly, I didn't necessarily mean to say the Bruins are as good as the Blackhawks, just that they're our new "bitter rival." Which is, I concede, maybe kind of a snotty thing to say. ("Hey, we're the Wings. We're amazing. Who's the most amazing team in this place? Boston? OK, they're our new rival.") (Whaaaat??) SensViking, I like your posts. And not just because you're nice to the Wings. Actually, to be honest, I think you may be overestimating the Wings a bit, and maybe even selling the likes of the Bruins short.
