When Tatar and Nyquist ARE on the roster and getting a good amount of ice time they better be the second and third coming of Datsyuk because these boards are touting them as though their absence is the only thing standing between us and an undefeated season. I trust our coach and that's the last I have to say about it right now.

all these are just random permutations...Why Tatar scratched? He was the one actually doing something in that Bruins game. Why useless Lashoff in while useless Smith is out? Why not someone else like Almquist or Oulette? Give a try like other teams do! Why Glendening recalled? Why not Nyquist? Is he better than Shaean, Tatar or Nyquist? Why Samuelsson is still playing? Why Dats and Zetter are still together while it is evident that second line is not clicking? Why Bert is going to play with Dats and Zetter?... Why we extended Miller? What does he bring others like e.g. Glendening or Shaeah or Tatar or Nqyust can't do? Why we saw no trades to make the roster spot for youngers? Being a fan for more than 18 years I hever thought I would that say that this team has no strategy going forwards... We don't now and I hate it.

I've always loved the Wings unconditionally but the team they're icing compared to the team they could ice is making me worried and peeved. It's like they want to lose and just hang out with Dan, Mikael and Drew on the golf course cause ya know....they good people.

Babcock is handcuffing this team. Having a terrible special teams year in and year out, with all the talent on this team, falls on coaching. Being unprepared against a Pheonix team after playing a disgusting game of hockey with 4 days off is a coaching issue. These lines are ridiculous players are being to asked to fill a role that they just can't and no adjustments get made. We were being outplayed from the start of the game to the end and no adjustments were made to lines that were consistently getting scored on and creating no offence. I blame Babcock just as much as Holland for these ridiculous signings because you know he has a major influence. Cleary, Bertuzzi and Saumelsson are brutal signings that have destroyed the growth of this team. What's worse is that Babcock chooses to play these guys every night. Ridiculous

He had a terrible game, but unless turning 41 makes you go brain dead, I don't think his age had much to do with it. His two mistakes were on the power play, standing still, at the blueline, and they were both mistakes of the mind, not the body.

Cleary gets way more ice time than Goose and has also played with Dats and Z. Apples and oranges... Cleary needs to go too. He sucks. I don't know if I mentioned it in any threads today, but I'd like to go on record stating that Cleary sucks. A Wings roster without him may bring tears of joy.

I say that right now all of the other 29 teams need to make a pact that if they are playing the Sharks and the game is so much of a blowout that they can't possibly win, they need to let Joe get 4 goals just to see if he'll do it. Ten bucks says Todd benches him after 3, just in case.

Hey, 1975 called, they want their game back. Fighting has been on the decline and the trend will continue. Yzerman, Bowman, Babcock, etc, aren't soft soccer moms, they're well respected hockey icons who know the game and can see the direction it's going in. There's no way the league can continue to say they are serious about concussions and head injuries and continue to allow fighting. So pop in your VHS of Slapshot and reminisce about the good old days because they aren't coming back.

When Yzerman was being protected by these players did he know then what he knows now? Maybe the new revelations about concussions in sport have changed his mind. Maybe now that he is a dad his mind has changed. None of you changed your mind after thinking one way for 20+ years, then discovered/learned something you previously were unaware of? Do you think maybe the research and studies down on CTE and concussions have changed his mind? For instance players used to smoke butts in the locker room before and after periods, should they still be doing it? No because they realized the impact it has on their breathing and abilities, so players for the most part stopped smoking, and all of them (due to laws) no longer smoke in the locker room. Also can we stop using the Blood feud as evidence we need to keep fighting, when was the last time a rivalry was that strong and had that much bad blood. No fight in the past 15 years has as much reason to be had as those fights. IF every fight in the NHL was in the same vein as the ones between the Wings and Avs, I for one would have no issue with them. But most of the fights are over clean hits, scrums at the net, or because a couple of goons are on the ice. Even when Matt Cooke ended Marc Savard's career, how many of the big bad bruins kicked his arse?

Sorry Stevie but I disagree. fact is you spent a good portion of your career-nearly all being protected by guys like Probert, Kocur, McCarty, Shanny, etc....... You had 1 career fight, lost badly, and were smart enough to never do it again, which counters your argument. no one has to fight. But most star players are glad there are guys that do. Some of us remember that wonderful evening back in 1997 when the RW finally became a champion. No it wasn't a 5 goal night from federov or stevie, it wasn't the night we finally lifted the cup over our heads, it was a couple of months earlier than that, at the Joe vs the Avs in March. Every RW fan under 30 knows that night. But most can't tell you who won the game, or what the final score was. But everyone remembers the night of the turtle. Everyone remembers Mccarty redeeming his best friends honor. Everyone remembers Shanny clocking Roy, and then letting Vernon pummel Roy. BTW the final score was 6-5 RW's, with McCarty scoring the game winner-something he wouldn't be allowed to do if Stevie had his way. Same guy scored the Cup winning goal a few months later.

I would say he's earned a shot at playing on the wings. From there, he would have to prove that he deserves to stay. If you think he has had ample chance to do so, and has failed, then I can't disagree with you. That would be your opinion. I'm not saying that's what you really think. I'm just sayin that's the only way you can legitimately say he hasn't earned a spot on the team. Otherwise, he's not being afforded the chance he's earned.

My major concern is that this permanently harms their development. Nyquist is certainly proven he's ready for the challenge of the NHL and Tatar certainly isn't developing on the bench.

Calder cup but we got the memo! Its a shame what's happening right now. Wish we could see goose and tats with the roster right now.

I think it's the way they deceive their victim into believing they're backing off, been then swooping around and catching them at the right moment.
