This is the kind of s*** they need to get out of the game. Absolutely no place for it. Edit: @penguins: ORPIK UPDATE: Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he is alert and conscious.

Down our best offensive players, 4th in the east, 4 points behind first place in the East, 2 if we win tonight. What is the line of expectations here, anything less than first place is unacceptable regardless if Pav and Zett are down? I'm pretty damn proud of where this team sits considering the struggles of Howard and the injuries we've faced this season. On top of it.. the game is tied. People are acting like we are losing 5-1 right now.

Orpik should've fought him the first time two cheap shots on bruins players led to it...Thornton will get a suspension but I don't blame him. Kneeing a guy in the head is clean? LOL.

Weiss has to be the WORST signing of any team this past off season.

Me too and I'm really pissed about it

There is no "code" I've seen muggings from he 70's and 80's that make this incident look like kissing. Thornton went over the line, but that's always happened in different eras as well. You can't take that out of hockey even if you neuter players like Thornton. Hockey players in bad moods sometimes go over the line. Orpik didn't help himself any by being Brooks Orpik, one of the most disliked defenders in the league.

its ok give him another 30 games and he'll bounce back , its just a bad stretch pathetic game man ... i felt like a buffalo sabres fan watching tonights game , how the hell do we allow the florida panthers to get 37 shots on net

Why should Orpik have to fight for a clean hit? He didn't cheap shot anyone.

Dan Cleary's teammates are letting him down tonight.

I've seen worse muggings before in hockey. The result is what made it look so bad. I don't think Thornton was trying to end Orpik's career or else he would have dropped his gloves and decked him with a real swinging punch. I have no problem with him being suspended, though. It was a cheap move. Orpik is a D-bag, though. There's a lot of players in the league that would like to do that to him.

Babs is out of his mind with that line and D combo, Emmerton, Bert, Sammy and Quincey on the ice together.

Quincey please get the f*** off the team

In other news around the league... @RobRossi_Trib: Complete lack of class by Thornton, punching Orpik while he was down on the ice. Stretcher out #pens

No, that would be Weiss, at the moment.

I know it's not that big of a deal but i'd prefer to be watching the Detroit feed. I'll take Ken and Mick over these dorks on the Florida feed anyday

There was no reason to resurrect this thread a third of the way through the season.

Once again, Weiss is invisible. Anyone else starting to think that paying Fil $5 million was a bad idea?

Can't wait for Datsyuk to be back Tuesday. The PP is abysmal without him.

One ties it one wins it in OT.

Nyquist hasn't looked phenomenal lately but luckily Tatar has. Grind this out and get the win and then Datsyuk will come back

Q has 0 future with this organization after this year from the way it looks now. Smith is not going anywhere. Lashoff is expendable once our young talent makes the move up and I see Kindl as expendable after Lashoff possibly in a trade. Kindl actually holds value right now but I don't think he is necessarily what this team needs long term.
