This is bullcrap. Another reason for me to care less about this boring league. Scott playing was pretty much the only reason I wanted to see the game. It's a gutless league that likes to alienate its own fans. Same league that's had 3 separate lockouts in the last few decades. Bettman and the other suits just don't get it. -

1 pointOver the Garden Wall The wonderfully whimsical, yet haunting tale of two brothers who find themselves lost in a mysterious wood. FEATURING: Elijah Wood as WIRT Collin Dean as GREG Christopher Lloyd as THE WOODSMAN And others! Including Tim Curry! John Cleese! and more! The show is a 10 part miniseries, with each episode chapter at approximately 12 minutes long. SO ITS NOT A LONG INVESTMENT LIKE BREAKING BAD OR WALKING DEAD! You can crunch this one out in a couple hours and come out on the other side in time for dinner! It has spectacular animation and beautifully crafted landscapes reminiscent of a Miyazaki film, so if you're into artistic design its worth the two hour investment in that alone. BUT WAIT! The story is excellent also! At first glance it seems like a simple children's tale of two boys trying to make their way home after getting lost in the woods. But its so much deeper than that! The writing is clever, managing to be simultaneously charming and horrifying, again the comparison to Miyazaki is warranted here. Except there's elements of Tim Burton as well, without being so over the top about it (a plus!) As it was initially aired on Cartoon Network and the target audience at first glance appears to be kids, you may think this isn't going to be very interesting. But you couldn't be more wrong. While the story caters to kids there's also plenty here for adults as well (in fact much of the story's deeper stuff will go over most kids' heads). Symbolism like whoa! Literary references! Existentialism! Metaphors! What are you waiting for! PLUS THERES MUSIC! Who can forget that classic hit POTATOES AND MOLASSES?? Or my personal favorite A COURTING SONG! Yes there's a song for everyone in this gem! And the best part? Chapter 1 is on YOUTUBE for free! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? Over the Garden Wall is an EMMY AWARD WINNING classic worth watching! AND THATS A ROCK FACT! Echolalia gives 5 stars, recommended for all ages

Pav hits 1000
DatsyukianDekes reacted to WingsallTheway for a post in a topic
I hope Pav decides to sign a 1 year when his contract his up. Guy is a treat to watch and I know 10-20 years from now I'll still consider him my favorite player of all time. Such a unique player and I really wish I didn't take the 2006-2011 seasons for granted. Best player in the NHL for a period of time. -
1 pointWasn't it just a couple of years ago that volunteering to sit out of the all star game got you a one game suspension? I recall Lidstrom and Datsyuk having to sit out a game because they chose not to go. Now the league WANTS a player to voluntarily sit out? How convenient moral ambivalence can be!

I'm also a little annoyed that Don Cherry, Mike Milbury, and the rest of the pro fighting crowd, have remained mum regarding Scott. How fickle. You're going to go on and on about how great fighting is, and then don't support a fighter that's getting railroaded. Makes you question their motives for sure. -
1 pointHere's another thing I'd say about Scott. All those people who championed the "vote Scott" campaign (most notable Puck Daddy) need to do the right thing and publicize the hell out of this. Maybe even start a petition or boycott. They had as much to do with this as anyone, and it would be a shame if they threw up their hands after essentially getting him involved in this in the first place.

And Montreal voting ALL Habs player in a few years ago wasn't? Look everyone can have his opinion I don't care but the fact ofa the matter is this: ASG is seen as a joke, players don't want to go (bet Crosby is happy!) but the NHL created this voting contest in order to get more clicks (the currency of the 21 century) and the fans decided, period. Was ist trolling or making a joke of a joke-game sure? But hey fans played by the rules and the league has to accept that. And guess what I'm willing to bet my house that Scott has a lot more hockey talent than 90 % of the people who can't get their asses out of their comfy chaires. He won the voting and he deserves it, period. btw. something like hardest punch, exceptional endurance during a scum would be some nice additions...hardest punch would be a toss up between Orr and McGrattan, endurance McGrattan and MacIntyre for sure. -

If the NHL, and a sizeable chunk of its fans, is going to insist that fighting is a necessary, traditional, and integral part of the game then I don't see why an individual shouldnt be voted into the all star game based on skill in this area. You can't have it both ways. Fighting can't be tacitly condoned, if not downright celebrated, while the fighters themselves are barred from receiving honors based on their ability to do this "nesessary" part of the game well. And that's to say nothing of the extremely contemptable decision to offer a man a life changing opportunity and then conspire to take it away. After all, regardless of his skill level, john Scott has devoted his entire life to loving and playing hockey. This is his hall of fame moment and he might be robbed of it. Its an absolutely awful way to treat a guy who probably loves the game more than any of us. -
