If a team is trapped in cap hell, it's Toronto. That Tavares deal is awful! The Leafs are stuck building around him now, despite having Matthews, Marner, and Nylander. Also, the other day I saw Jake Gardiner say he should be getting Ryan Ellis money, ha! The Leafs better win the Cup in 2 years, or they're screwed!

I'm ok with the new center ice look. Hockeytown was The Joe, Yzerman, McCarty, Shanahan, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Osgood, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, etc.. It's a new team in a new arena, so the next era has an opportunity to make their own identity.

On this day, August 27th, in the year of our lord Harambe 2018 - a day that will live in infamy - we have recieved crushing news from the front. Darkness, and the war on memes has prevailed. Many posts and dank memes were deleted and horrifically scrubbed in the final carnage. (Press F to pay respects) However the fighting is not over. Today, right now, resistance begins. The hockey overlords are numerous and strong. Their grip on meme production and distribution is crushing and with total resolve. But their brutish oppression of our ppl stems from one place: Fear They fear the might of meme magic because they know how powerful it can become. They seek to force us to communicate in this archaic written format, knowing full well the superior efficiency of the meme, simply because they dont understand how to wield memes themselves. They are jealous of our powers. Belittling us with hate speech like "silly pictures". We will drag them kicking and screaming into the modern age. The meme age. We will fight them in the general discussion, we will fight them in the prospects watch, and we will fight them right here in the water cooler. Anywhere their bigotry and hate reaches, we will be there shoving a ret-arded looking spongebob down their throats. We will not seek to stamp out the "normie" posters. Our goal is only our own liberation and to live in peace amongst the hockey fans. Brothers, now is the time for your dankest memes. I'm less concerned that they're all offensive. I mean, you could always just start them in the o-zone. But AA is tricky because he's best in transition, and when blowing the zone, so that he can get up to speed and beat defenders. So you can't really start him in the offensive zone. Honestly, if Zadina and Vanek are on the line I'd rather they play with Neilsen. Assuming Larkin, Neilsen, AA, and Glendening are our centers I'd go for something like this: Bert-Larkin-Mantha Vanek-Neilsen-Zadina Ras-AA-Nyq Helm-Glen-Abby This is just for next year. In the long run I've got much different ideas about how I'd set my lines.

Certainly, the hard but no-brainer stuff is done. The tricky business is on it's way yet. Sign a premier coach: Done Sign superstar: Done Draft superstar: Done Get a goalie: Done Get young decent supporting cast: Done Re-signing the good supporting cast and letting go the deceptively good supporting cast while keeping those contracts well planned/blanced term and cap hit wise while also replenishing the player pool through (hopefully) increasingly weaker draft positions: Not Done. f*** the Leafs n f*** Kyle Dubas. Hope he f***s up Big League.

Toronto is in a really strong position going forward. They're STACKED at forward and have good goaltending. Their defense is good, but not great, and they've drafted TONS of defensemen the last two years. They're legit Cup contenders. The only thing stopping them will be how good other teams in the East get over the next few years. They'll be a top team for sure, but it's entirely possible they'll be one of those top teams that's always overshadowed by another team that's just a bit better.

With Zadina-AA-Vanek, you have a rookie, a C with a reputation for not playing a 2 way game, and a veteran who does best in an offensive role. I have to agree that putting all 3 on the same line would be a concern. Abby isn't exactly a defensive juggernaut, but I would feel more comfortable with a less offensive guy on that line to focus more on defense, so the other 2 can generate offense.

The next spamming of memes, off topic posting and photoshops will lead to suspensions going forward. We have spent too much time cleaning this up, and it's gotten way out of hand. We have been more laid back this offseason and it's getting taken advantage of, keep things on track, on topic, and stop doing this. Thank you.

I've mentioned before around here that I go fishing with an Islanders scout about once a year. I used some connections to dip my toe a lil bit into the scouting world about two years back when I was on hiatus from this website. Never found an industry more built on who you know, and gave up very quickly. Glad to see Toronto doing things like this, wish the Red Wings would to:

If Dubas trusts Babcock to tell him what he feels is a player that could help solidify their run, he should have no issue taking Bab's advise and acquiring Glenny. Trading Glenny (along with putting Franzen on LTIR) will allow us to remain under the cap EVEN IF Zetterberg plays AND we promote BOTH Zadina and Rasmussen. In order to make this happen, we may have to accept less for him considering our cap woes. Glenny for ONE 4th rounder should get it done, but would love to have both from them. ...no those are not lines. This will require Witko to double duty again as FWD/D for we would still be over the cap if Hronek is recalled. Of course Glenny would have to be traded BEFORE the season for this to work.

Good on him. I'm paying my Franchise player, current #1 center and future Captain $6.1M, there is no way in snowville that I am giving Nyquist anywhere near $5M. Using that logic, Mantha should be at $4.8M and AA at $3.3M, Helm should have to give money back.

To be fair, I don't think I'd want to re-sign Nyquist to 6x$5M either. I think he's worth that money to a lot of teams, but I just don't think it would make a ton of sense for this team. If we're spending that kind of money in free agency next offseason, I hope it's for a top 4 defenseman, not a top 6 winger.
