You're an old school fan I recall the Chicago Stadium...Went to a handful of games there...Upon entering the that old barn - you were literally 'corralled' to your seat, or in my case standing room. There really wasn't a concourse per say - just an area where you went to the bathroom, and a few 'windows' for purchasing food/drinks/etc. Today the owners want to separate us from our $$$ once we enter their establishment; numerous options to pick, and choose from along the vast concourse.

I tell you when I go to watch a game, I go to watch THE GAME. I don't meander around, or go to the bathroom (I make sure I go before the game), or buy anything whether food or souvenirs, because I don't want to miss one bit of the action on the ice.

I am not saying that Holland hasn't been moving players, but I just think, at the very least, Abby and Dekeyser are here to stay. Not that he hsn't been very good at the deals he has made, but I think those two are players that will start and finish their careers here. They aren't horrible, and really, they have $13M in cap available next season, with really nobody that important to re-sign. If they do not re-sign any of the UFA's, they will have plenty of kids from GR coming in at very low wages. That is not to say that they won't go after a UFA come July (Karlsson) and then absolutely they'll have to be dumping salary this TDL. If they trade Daley, that'll add another $3.1M on to their cap. So even if, let's say land Karlsson for $11M-$12M that'll still give them $3M-$4M to fill in from GR. But that is for another thread... But maybe someone wants Nielsen and Ericsson this spring, ya never know. I just don't see Abby or DD going anywhere. Abby will most likely retire after this contract and I can see DD re-signing after his. They aren't that bad, they just need to be in the appropriate place on the ice. ATM, that is Bottom 6 for Abby and bottom pairing for DD. Prediction, if they're in the playoff picture by TDL, they won't get rid of anyone...if they are out again, I can see a few names being talked about, you've mentioned them, but I just don't think he'll trade them all. IMO Any of Nyquist, Howard, Daley, Helm and Glendening could be on the move, but I'd welcome Nielsen or Ericsson being dealt as well.

Bucharest Grill is fantastic (and cheap) drunk food if you like Shawarma. +1 for Checker Bar because I'm a sucker for arcade games (Ready Player One is another arcade bar downtown). I know you said you don't really want to sit down, but Slow's BBQ is amazing.. highly recommend. Nemo's makes a pretty great burger iirc. Hopcat has an amazing beer selection/food, although isn't exclusive to Detroit. Edit: also, Pie-Sci is an awesome pizza place imo. Hope this helps some. Enjoy your trip!

I got you fam, For food (before or after) hit up Lafayette Coney Island and get some coney dogs to stuff down your drunk food holes. You will see American Coney Island next door, and it will appear cleaner and more inviting. This is a trick we play on tourists. DO NOT EAT THERE. Real Detroiters know to eat at Lafayette, trust me. A personal favorite of mine you might consider before the game is Polish Village Cafe. Good beer and dope Polish food. However, it gets kinda packed in there sometimes and it's not in walking distance to the stadium. So if time is an issue maybe skip, but it's really good thou. As for bars, IDK really know anymore. There's plenty of random bars around the stadium. I just made the pilgrimage last week and I just hung out at the checker bar and played pinball with da boys (it's one of them arcade bars).

THe NBA and MLB cannot end games in ties, so a point system is meaningless since all games are either won or lost. Hence, a team's win/loss record is used. NFL games can end in ties, but it's rare, And since the league only plays 16 games a season, a points system is unnecessary. The NHL plays an 82 game season where games can end in ties, Also, games can give out the teams who played in it 0, 1, or 2 points, depending on the outcome. That's why a Point System is necessary for seeding. Does that answer your question?
