1 pointTurns out I'm bad with nicknames. I really wanted everyone to call Joe Hicketts "Cricket". When obviously he should actually be called "Rickety Hickety". I just miss the mark on these things too often to be reliable.

1 pointI'd really like to see Zadina get some more minutes, spend some time on the top line in place of Mantha or Bertuzzi. I think he's earned it and I also think the players around him have earned a pointed reminder that 1) accountability is an actual thing that actually matters, 2) no one's job/role is safe, and 3) playing to their capability is all that's being asked of them.

1 pointYeah, I'm not sure I agree with the "we're in cap hell" narrative either. The last difference maker UFA that we tried to get and didn't was Stamkos, and we actually HAD enough cap space to get him, he just didn't want to come here. So I'm not sure how those bad contracts have hurt us actually.

1 pointI'm only concerned in the sense that not one of those players is a safe bet to be a really solid 2C within the next two years. If we're ok with being patient, then it doesn't really matter. But we know this is the Wings and we know the Wings are naturally impatient.

After using the tankathon about 20 times, the team's that won the lottery the majority of the time were New Jersey and Vancouver. Detroit only once. It makes me feel that if we aren't going to win #1, I'd rather finish between 5-10 and possibly move up bit than finish 1-2 and get dumped on by the balls, which will probably happen. There's no way the NHL allows Detroit to get Jack Hughes. Not while Bettman is in charge. -
