Elite sniper Darren Helm should have an appreciation thread where we can talk about our favorite country albums

Right, Regula was probably never gonna pass Hronek or Seider on the depth chart Spaghetti friend for Veleno

Helps with secondary scoring. Regula wasn’t ever going to be anything more than a 3rd pairing type. Perlini is a RFA so if he catches fire great. We either have a trade chip or secondary scoring for the future. We kinda need secondary scoring.

If Holland were still here this team would be equally as bad as it is now. Yzerman didn't sign Neilsen, Abdlekader, etc etc to these heinous deals. And Connor and Leon aren't exactly "a few good forwards". Hot take. RNH, the forgotten man, would be this team's second (maybe first?) best player. The Oiler's bones are way healthier than Detroit's. The same s*** Babcock has won? 2 Olympic gold medals. Goldcock has one cup as a coach. With two 80+point selke calibre forwards and a HOF Norris gobbling D man. Should have had at least two. Yzerman inherited two all stars. How many did Holland start with lol?

Some people are incapable of conceptualizing that a team cannot remain a Stanley cup contender for 30 years straight in a salary cap era. So then rash decisions happen and quality people are removed simply for the sake of change. So instead of proven winners in Babcock and Holland running the ship we have two unproven commodities. Meanwhile the personelle we let walk are continuing to ice competitive teams, just for different cities now.

Holland was never the actual problem here, just the scapegoat.

Good point. But we need help.... Howard would be a top notch backup at this point... Bernier isn't an NHL caliber player so the need is obvious.

I go back and forth on this. On the one hand, yeah. Gimme Markstrom. On the other hand, our D group is literally the worst in the league and Carey Price would probably look pedestrian behind it. There's definitely a psychological element that has to be considered tho; a young rebuilding team really, really needs a goalie they believe in. Nothing kills team confidence quicker and more thoroughly than backbreaking letdown goaltending. I dunno that I believe that's what we have in Howard and Bernier, but I guess I would've liked to have seen [goalie] play well enough to steal this evening's game and the Sabres game and maybe the Oilers game. ...But, again, that's probably a lot to ask of even a legit Vezina-caliber goalie. Our back end is unbelievably thin.

Let me just point out that Larkin just beat O'Reilly in the faceoff dot twice in a row. O'Reilly is one of the best faceoff men in the league.

Smith has impressed me. I agree with the FS-D crew that his dogged work helped build up some momentum which ultimately led to the goal. He's consistently heavy in the o-zone. I can say the same about exceedingly few of our forwards.
