I am just sick of listening to Blashill.

Coleman may be the better all around player (maybe), but I think you can definitely make the comparison. Coleman is a work horse, but Athanasiou is more skilled, and I think could provide just as much value in a bottom six role to a contending team. If Coleman gets a 1st round pick and a top prospect, Athanasiou should get close to that, maybe even more. He is three year's younger and still team controlled (RFA). I think it's a great trade for both sides. Tampa has one of, if not the best teams in the league. They need to go all in. Jersey has one of the worst teams in the league, and are stockpiling picks / prospects. Yzerman really needs to find a way to acquire a couple more high end picks / prospects at this deadline. New Jersey currently have three potential (conditional) 1st round picks (but don't have any 2nd or 3rd round picks), and Ottawa have two 1st round picks and three 2nd round picks. Both likely to add more before the draft as well. We have one 1st, two 2nd's and two 3rd's. We need to add more...

GM's sure learned their lessons, as you said.

I'd look to any of the 35 year old guys. Crawford, Greiss, Elliott, or Halak. If you're shopping in the UFA market you're always going to be overpaying, so at least do it on a short term deal. All of those are having decent seasons, which is all we'd really need them to have for us. The under 35 crowd is all going to want more term than we should be giving out. Best of the bunch are Holtby and Markstrom and I wouldn't want to pay either of them what they're going to want (and on the term that they'll want) either.

I just used those two players as examples. It will be a challenge for sure, I'm just hoping Yzerman explores all options.

    Joe Thornton

And will probably choke in the playoffs in Switzerland. Honestly, unlike Bourque, he doesn't deserve to win the Cup. In his prime, he underperformed in the biggest moments. I hope no contender bothers to acquire him.

Yeah Coleman is the exact type of player Tampa was missing last playoff run tbh. A workhorse who is great on the PK, can put up some short handed goals. The cost is high, but a team like Tampa can afford it. He's like disney.com if disney.com could put up 30 to 40 points per year. The cost of players so far with the deadline approaching is definitely giving me some hope on what we could potentially get for guys like Helm. Obviously Helm is no Coleman, but he is still a good role player, and teams need good role players to win.

I don't think anyone believes that will happen. Stevie has no loyalty to Howard. At this point, he's just a warm body to send out to give Bernier a break.

I’ll take a 1st and a top prospect for AA.

Hoesntly, with the state of our defense, I'd claim him. Wow did not think Greene would go for that much. Definitely makes me think our guys might go for at least a little more than a waiver claim

"Coach Jeff Blashill defends Detroit Red Wings after blowout loss at Pittsburgh" I don't know about you, but headlines like this piss me off. I really hope Yzerman changes the culture and fast during the offseason. There are way too many losers on this team such as Blashill, Abdelkader (worst contract and most expensive AHLer in the league), Howard (stats tell the tale), Larkin (Selfish), and the many other washed up bums that don't belong in the NHL who get a pass for being a mentor to the young players (who the f*** would want them to rub off their s***ty skills on our young players?).

I am still here... cultured and refined. Like yogurt and sugar... ick. I think it is a plot that we have back to back weekend games, in the morning, and on the road and this one on NBC, and it's Piss-burgh? It's like someone wants us to fail ever worse than we do all on our own? LGRW!

Did Kronwall’s departure take with what remained? It feels a bit like they must start from the first piece.
