I am prepping for a worst case scenario i.e. 4th. Therefore when we get anything above 4 I can be super happy. If we get stuck @ 4 then I have already prepared so my day isn't ruined.

I agree with your overall sentiment here, but I disagree that Bowey has no future and no real trade value. Bowey is a decent bottom pairing defenseman that can chip in offensively. 17 points in 53 games from the back end, on a team that severely lacked offense, is solid production. I won't be too upset if we let him walk, but I'm on the side of maybe we should extend him for another season or two, to see if he can continue to build off of last season. If he can learn to clean up his defensive game, he could be a solid defenseman. To be fair, Bowey is 25 and Hronek is only 22, but I do think both have room for growth.

I think there's a reasonable chance that Stutzle could be available at 4. I really want Lafreniere though...

As long as we're drafting top 3 I think I'll be OK. But we have to get one of Lafreniere, Byfield, or Stutzle.

In the span of about a month, I've gone from not caring about the lotto format to absolutely hating it. lol. I've also gone from thinking I won't be too disappointed with 3rd or 4th overall to realizing 3rd or 4th overall would crush me. To have the kind of season we just had and not even get Lafreniere or Byfield out of it...ugh. I'm trying really hard to not get my hopes up. But I want to believe. (ﾉಥДಥ)ﾉ

Sure. I'm just using "definitively establishes himself as a top-three NHL defenseman" as the target, which adds a year or two to the estimated timeline. So let's call it 3-5 years.

Basically, yeah. Hope for a quick ascent, but expect a slow ascent. Hronek was drafted in 2016. 2020-21 will be the first season where he's utilized as a legit go-to guy straight out of the gate. That's four(ish) years.

It's easy to go off topic when there's only a handful of people actually posting content. You can only post the same ideas, thoughts, and opinions so many times before things go stale and you start looking for other things to discuss. If more people participated in the conversation, it would bring entirely different points of view on existing topics of discussion, as well as creating entirely new thoughts of discussion that no one else has thought of bringing up. That would keep the content fresh and relevant to entire point of this website. tl;dr: If you don't participate in the conversation, you can't complain about what's discussed.
