They had this guy from minute one. This is the reason Ranges signed Trocheck. According to TSN guys, Copp told NYR right away he was going to Detroit. PLUS, TSN felt that not only did we get the better term (5 yrs vs. 7 yrs) we also got the better player. This was a great kick off to what turned out to be a HUGE day for Detroit!

Stevie said at the draft that they thought his skill is underrated. If the Red Wings are right, this kid is gonna be a beast!

My love for Savoie is based on his IQ, work ethic, skill, and speed. All the fundamentals are there along with the right attitude. The scoring in junior is just icing on the cake tbh. While Kasper doesn't have that same level of skill, he has the other tools in spades, along with more grit and size. It was always gonna be a win/win regardless of which Yzerman got.

Did any of you guys get to watch the development camp 3 on 3 tournament? If not, check out the games on youtube. You'll be surprised at how skilled Kasper can be. Fans and draft analysts kept saying he didn't have the skill of some other guys. That's not what I saw in the tournament. If he'd been in the CHL he'd have posted gaudy numbers and nobody would have thought that.

This one came out of nowhere and it rules. This signing screams Yzerman wants playoff hockey without long-term commitments.

I'm really curious to see how the Russian kid turns out. Turns out he was very under-scouted. Could be the steal of the draft.

I have it an A-. Kasper was the best pick at 8, and people are going to love how much better this kid is than what was billed. He scored marginally worse than Lucas Raymond in his draft year, despite playing fewer minutes for a more defense heavy club. Plus his coach in Rogle openly said they told him to play conservatively if he wanted to stay in the lineup. He's going to be awesome. Then we took another Bertuzzi/Mazur in Dylan James and two super skilled, high upside, guys in Buchelnikov and Lombardi. Only giving it an A- because the 3rd we used on Jusso got used on Aleksanteri Kaskimaki and I really liked him in the 3rd round before the draft.
