Yeah, he's a stud. Seider on defense, and Rasmussen at forward, get some of the hardest usage I've seen on a wings team in years. Those dudes are absolute horses. Seider has been looking a little more assertive in the offensive zone lately as well, which was really my only (minor) gripe with his play. He's pretty damn good. Edit: There's an article in The Athletic today detailing how Seider has the toughest usage in the league. The author argues that Seider is sinking a bit with the usage, but that it would be hard not to sink given what he's been asked to do (that's me paraphrasing the article). We need quality defensemen, bad.

Seider was all world last night minus the blown tire. His positioning reminds me of Lids. He never allows the forward a scoring path. Always angles them into non scoring spots. So clean.

I think a big part of it is that we've only got one pair that can really defend top players well so they end up defending all game long, and THAT kills your possession metrics. But what other choice do we have? I'm not saying we should or shouldn't trade for Hanifin or Chychrun, but if you did and put them on the 2nd pair you'd immediately see Seider and Walman's possession stats increase.

That makes perfect sense. Check that link i posted a couple spots above with Seider's possession metrics. It FEELS (eyeball test) that Seider is always shutting down the attack and getting it out of our zone. The metrics might look poor because the other teams good players are probably always getting it back and coming back at us. I think Seider's possession metrics will start to sky rocket when we get a few of these young guys (Kasper, Danielson, Lombardi, Mazur, Berggren) up that can turn a defensive stop into continued possession the other way. We're so focussed on playing sound defensively right now that we might be spending a little too much time playing defense. Edvinsson will help change that too. He's a transition dynamo.

We are the only team in the league that loses this game. We are the only team that gets our asses kicked by the Sens multiple times and comes into this game and puts 3 shots on goal in the first period. If we played the Bruins ten times in February, we might go 6-4. If we played the Sharks ten times in February, we'd go 1-5-4. I like our team against good teams. I hate our team against bad teams.

Up until that OT I'd say we deserved 2 points. Ottowa showed great care for the puck but our forwards need to know when to have a bit more bite. If you can't get the puck at the very least level the guy so he can't jump right back into play.

I blame Ken as he kept saying a win would put us in 1st wild card Let's be honest had we been told at the all star break we would be seriously sniffing playoffs. We all would have creamed our jeans. Sorry Scott 4 hours of unhappy work due to no win sucks.

There will be a Berggren for Chychrun trade coming up. (more included obviously) No to Kaako. Wings may not be able to re-sign Sprong, but they will re-sign Kane and then replace Sprong with somebody else. More than likely Stamkos. I don't think they re-sign any other UFA. Perron, Fischer, Ghost, Reimer, all gone one way or another. Hanifin is a UFA this summer, could you imagine if Detroit could dump a D or 2 (in addition to Petry buyout) and sign him (along with the trade for Chychrun) and promote Edvinsson? Yzerman is not afraid to buy out a 3-year deal, he did it to Abdelkader. If he was able to secure Chychrun AND Hanifin, I could see a Petry and another buy out. Unless Maatta is traded, he doesn't have any clauses. Not sure they could afford those two though with Seider and Raymond getting PAID! edit: Nevermind, I cannot get it to work, since Hanifin will most like get a big raise in UFA. Not unless we can convince OTT to retain 50% on Chychrun....

We had no business signing Patrick Kane at all. But Yzerman got it done. Shut your mouths and appreciate it. My favorite, and simultaneously least favorite, thing about the wings fan base has always been how spoiled we are. It's fun to look down on the inferior sub-teams when we have Lidstrom and Yzerman and Zetterberg and dominate for over a decade. And I encourage this behavior. But when we have no business bragging, STFU and appreciate what little we have. Suggesting near ppg Patrick Kane is a problem is insane, and every other team would love to have him at the price we got him. Talking about luck is just insane in general. And yes I realize OP is a bait fish. But I feel like it's good time to point how much of a large stride we made this past year. We are on track to be looking down our nose at the rest of the league again in a few years. I truly miss the days when I could walk into a Vancouver bar on a night they're playing Nashville or something, in my Wings jersey, and both fan bases chant F the Wings. I miss being universally hated for our yankee level success so much. But fuqqing know when it's time sock betch.
