Red Wings Sign D Robbie Russo

"Unlike Hawks prospect Ryan Hartman, a West Dundee, Ill. native, and Hawks backup goaltender Scott Darling, a Lemont, Ill. native, Russo did not grow up a Hawks fan despite the proximity to the team. Russo was a Red Wings fan growing up, according to Second City Hockey staff writer Ryan Hood, who attended high school with him for two years."

Right handed shot defenseman with decent size and mobility. Over a point per game in his final year of NCAA. I like it. Also, the highly touted Mike Reilly, that a lot of Wings fans wanted to sign, who eventually signed with the Wild, finished with one more point than Russo. Russo was selected 95th overall by the Islanders in the 2011 draft while Reilly was selected 98th overall by the Blue Jackets the same year... I like this signing a lot...

I wasn't aware Lebda was 6'1", right handed, and a somewhat physical player...

So because he is from Michigan he automatically gets to cash in? I love Abby, he plays hard and is versatile, but I don't think he is worth 4 million unless he can string together. Few solid seasons. Hate to see another bad contract.... I just don't get the mentally on paying someone on their future potential instead of their previous track record.

6'1",5'9".............right handed, left handed. Its all the same right.....lol Now that I took my tongue out of my cheek, I like it. It appears to be a low risk signing, and the last time I remember KH taking a chance like this was with DD and we all know how that worked out. Not saying he will be DD, but former captain of Notre Dame seems like something to be slightly excited about. Cant have too many prospects.

I just think that, like it or not, these guys are professional athletes, and therefore they are role models to millions of people and children growing up. Thus, they're off ice behaviour is probably, almost more important than the behaviour they exhibit on it. If we place a team in Vegas, are we likely to see more stories about off ice behaviour? Can you imagine if the NFL had a team in Vegas? All of these things are obviously subject to our own opinions, and are all projectables. These things may or may not happen at all, and a team there could be a success. Or it coiuld not, and could end up giving the league a bad name. Personally, I don;t think it's worth the risk, especially considering that the 3 biggest sports in the US do not have a franchise in Vegas. I would have thought that would be enough to prohibit the NHL from attempting something like this. Especially considering the vast failures they've had in small, non-hockey markets...

Actually he was arrested in Las Vegas but I agree with your overall argument

Las Vegas rumored to get an expansion team

They have no guys in Detroit either? That sucks, but I doubt that guys are what the majority are looking for.

    Franzen's Gift to Nyquist

People all over the internet keep saying "I want these sheets!". They're nuts. Who the hell wants Mike Babcock's disapproving glare watching over everything they do in bed? You can almost see him thinking "Luke Glendening works harder than that" whenever you're making love to your partner. Screw that.
