Overall I really like our signings and equally like us not resigning all of the dead weight (Daley, Ericsson, Howard)

I'm just happy not to have to deal with Jimmy "starts hot, gets injured, plays like garbage" Howard. He had some good seasons, but he was never going to be the goalie we needed, even if we were a contender at any point. For clarity, I'm not saying Bernier or Greiss are necessarily leagues better, but we all knew what Howard was going to offer in the last few seasons (after 16/17).

it all starts with this. Despite us being the worst team last year, players respect Yzerman.

I love this because it was stated that he had TONS of interest and for him to knowingly go to a rebuilding team over a contender speaks volumes. Imagine this type of interaction once we are competitive and contending again.

The way it works actually is that each of the 8 play in losers have an equal 12.5% chance. That "team to be determined" is literally just that.
What sours me the most is that other fans get to be excited to win a series or the draft and we have to eat s*** after a brutal season of hockey. NOT the way the lotto is supposed to work.

Disagree totally. The only 2 I can think of that I believe have used coke are Probert and McCarty.
Disagree. Never been around anyone who does drugs. At all. Including marijuana. Have an in law that has a drug past, but keep my distance. Only have one smoker that I would consider a friend. People can do what they want, but anyone who indulges in illegal substances just isn't someone I want anything to do with.
Getting caught shouldnt be their concern. The fact that its banned, illegal, unsportsmanlike, dishonorable, and unhealthy should be enough to prevent any player from touching the stuff.
    As per usual.

    You're not wrong
But among rich young adults I'd say cocaine is a lot more common than a lot of folks realize, or are at least willing to admit. It's like what weed is to not-so-rich young adults. Even if you don't do it yourself, you're still gonna run into a lot of folks who do. Don't mean to normalize it, but I think it's kinda the ugly truth.
Also cocaine leaves ur system super fast, especially if you're in great shape like young athletes are. I imagine that's why most aren't that concerned about getting caught by the league.
I don't really care personally if that's what he wants to do. As long as he's smart about it and saves it for a weekend here or there and doesn't get his dumb ass caught. But yeah, I'd definitely prefer he NOT do it. And if he wants to be captain he probably shouldn't being doing it. But I'm aslo saying there's probably more Red Wings on this team who have done coke at some point than those who haven't.

Sure man. No other Red Wing has ever used coke. Definitely.
Good on ya, but your family man bubble is far from the same world these rich young athletes are treading in.
Don't you live in an ideal world lol
Pro Tip: If you ever wanna see the degeneracy these players get into, go hang out at The Woods Lounge in GR on a weekend. You'll get to meet some fine young 19/20 year old Griffins, with fake IDs, geeked up on drugs, getting falling down drunk. It's a good time.

AA is not being traded. He's a 30 goal scorer having a bad season mostly because of who Blashill plays him with. You don't just trade away one of your best scorers because of 1 season.
and I agree, none of our UFA's will garner any interest. If we could dump Nielsen and Helm, that would be a great TDL.

I know it's said in a draft to pick the best player available, but we're at a point now where we need to draft certain types of players. We have a lot of young forwards, so we need defencemen with size, and get a starting goalie soon. If Seider is the guy we wanted, I don't have a problem with it.

Honestly, I really like the pick. I like it because I love the player, yes, but I also like it because Yzerman knows how important this pick is and you could argue he had every reason in the world not to select Seider if he wasn't fully 100% sure that he's His Guy. Passing on all those good forwards that were available, including Cozens -- who would seem to fit Yzerman's drafting history to a T -- means he's beyond sold on Seider. That, to me, is very exciting.
Seider's absolute ceiling is something like a Victor Hedman monster 1D. You know who has unique insight into Hedman himself and, one would assume, defense prospects in that general mold? Steve Yzerman. Steve Yzerman wants a Hedman and Wings fans have been wet-dreaming about finding a Red Wings version of Hedman for the better part of a decade.
No one had Chicago taking Dach, so the fact that E X P E R T S are questioning the pick means nothing to me. Though, if we're going to defer to E X P E R T S, Craig Button and some others had Seider going only a few spots after we took him. So I'm not sure you can even call it a true stretch pick. Maybe to E X P E R T S who didn't even consider the possibility that he could go as high as 6th, but many of the E X P E R T S live in their own self-constructed realities, which is why they get so many picks wrong every year. What we were (and weren't) hearing about Seider over the course of the past year doesn't really have any bearing on what our scouts and GM think of Seider.

I don't think so. I think as i said the coach of this team is a bit indifferent right now so maybe that was his reasoning. Its a no lose situation with Blashill, either the team surprises and overachieves and that would be fine or the team misses the playoffs again and Yzerman has at that point the ability and reasoning to bring in his next choice. If he brings in his first choice right off the bat and the team struggles again next year then  maybe his stock declines. Blashill is a safe choice for at least another year. He at least officially speaking is not responsible for his extension so he has a bit of a built in safety net, even though I'm sure he was part of it.
