Oh so close in the MSU-Wisconsin game. Plenty of offense and tons of times where previous state teams would have called it a game and gave up. The team fought hard and showed that this is clearly not John L's Spartans. Good Job state in a loss and I am looking forward to them at least making an impact in the big ten race this year.

I agree. That's a game that would have been a blowout under JLS. Pretty impressive the way Dantonio has gotten this team to be more disciplined, especially considering it's mostly JLS' recruits playing. I'm disappointed that MSU lost, but I liked that they played tough and hung in there until the end.

The game I'm most looking forward to this weekend - besides my own teams' games - is Virginia Tech-Clemson. Tech has a piss-poor offense and it's been covered up by them playing a weak schedule so far, outside of LSU which creamed them. I think Clemson will expose it. And I really, really do think UVA has a terrific chance to win the division title and play in the ACC championship game, and here's why: Our cross-division games are Maryland, Wake Forest, and NC State. Tech's are Clemson, Boston College, and FSU. And Miami plays (I believe) FSU and BC.

Mario Manningham to miss the EMU game

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...02105&imw=Y

How convenient this news didn't come out before the PSU game...

And Brandon Minor...you're right how convenient

And how nice of the Detroit Free Press to write about Les Miles while U-M is 2-0 in the Big 10. It's a good read, but still....

It's early, but so far things looking pretty good in the ol' college football world: as I type, it's Michigan over EMU 10-0, N'western over MSU 13-6, and my favorite, UNC leading Miami 13-0. GO HEELS! I like UVA's chances to win the division, and Miami losing today would be just huge.

I may be a little biased, but why is no one saying Hart for Heisman? The Guy has lead the nation in rushing for weeks now, and didn't play much in the Oregon game. Yes, some people say you need to win almost all your games, but McFadden is the leader on many boards, and ARK has 2 loses too. If U-M didn't have Hart they could be 2-4 instead of 4-2.

Maybe...because if it wasn't for Michael Hart, Michigan might only have one win right now.

If Michigan runs the table from here on out, and he's consistently great...then i'd listen to Heisman talk for Hart. But at this point, Michigan still doesnt look like a good team so theres no way he gets considered. Its going to take ALOT to overcome the Appalachian thing...that will be the first thing people think of when Michigan is brought up for the rest of the year. Hard to imagine a Heisman being handed out to Hart imo for that very reason...

I think you're dead on with that assessment.

well, the way the top 15 have been going the past few weeks, Michigan might crack the top 10 in 3 weeks time. I dont think I have ever seen this many upsets. I mean come on, BC, South Florida in the top 5? and Illinois ahead of Wisconsin? and where the heck did Kentucky come from?

So close......UVA got 26th most votes in the coaches poll. A win next week and another bad loss by a couple of those ranked teams and we could be back up in the rankings.

Thing is though, I think we're not quite ready....that near-debacle against MTSU was pretty bad. I really want to get back into the ACC schedule and start playing some games that matter.

Last night, watching the LSU-Florida game was one of the more entertaining football games I have seen in recent memory.

Florida, despite getting upset against Auburn the week before, is a legit team still and was not going to play conservative or be intimidated on a Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. They pretty much took it to LSU for 3 quarters, but LSU finally started to make plays on defense and enough on offense to rally and win in the last minute of the game. As tired as I am of hearing the media hump Tim Tebow's leg, Florida's QB, he is the real deal and I think he'll be a Heisman candidate in time.

I really like Les Miles, he rarely plays conservative and is not afraid of gambling when the odds are not favorable (but still realistic). LSU went for it on 4th down 5 times last night, and got it all 5 times...

4th-1 conversion from Florida's 1 early in the 2nd quarter for a TD...

Fake FG attempt (though not the "flip play") on about 4th-and-7 or so for a 1st down early in the 4th quarter. QB/holder Matt Flynn ran for about 10.

Same series in the 4th, they go for it on 4th and goal from about the 4 trailing 24-14. Flynn throws a TD pass.

Down 24-21 on their last series before they eventually scored the game winning TD, they go for it on 4th-and-2 from around Florida's 10. I thought Miles was out of his mind. Take the chip-shot FG. But LSU just barely got the first down within inches on a rush up the gut. They weren't done though...

4th-and-goal from the 2 soon after, and again they try. And again, a run up the gut yields a TD run.

Again, one of the better and more entertaining games I have seen in a good while. LSU showed the true heart/fight of how a top-5 team can be capable of gutting out wins comin from behind last night.

Finally, Notre Dame is on the board.

Of course, the night they get their first win, I get stuck watching the Ohio State game because of where I live.

Regardless of whatever the anti-Notre Dame crowd says, I'm very excited for the future. Every week this young team has shown a lot of improvement, and that's a good sign. Five straight games now in South Bend to keep on building for next year.

Harbaugh's Cardinal beat USC at USC!

Ohio State completely dominated Purdue. Only negatives were 3 Boeckman lob passes that were picked and giving up a touchdown to lose the shutout in the last minute.

Good for Jim, and that win. He is proving he is a up and coming coach (that doesn't mean like him now). I thought it was a joke USC fans booed them going off the field...what a bunch of spoiled brats. I was at the App State game this year, and U-M didn't even get booed...probably because half the place had a heart attack, but thats besides the point

Now that this season is halfway over, I've been looking at the schedule and trying to figure out which teams can go undefeated and advance to the National Championship game. Obviously if LSU, Ohio St. and California go undefeated..they will be in, but can they go undefeated?? And who would they lose to? Let's begin the discussion.

LSU: i don't see this team losing

Ohio State: Game against Michigan might save Carr's job.

Cali: games against USC and Arizona State..this team will lose one of those two

BC: at Va Tech is gonna be tough

South Florida: this team should go undefeated. Curious to know if it will be enough to be in the NC game.

Missouri: this weekend against Oklahoma

Ari State: 3 games against Cali, USC, and Oregon. 1-2 loss team.

Cincy: USF and West Va. will lose 1 of these 2 games.

Hawaii: Worst schedule ever!! They are this year's Boise State.

Kansas: they get by colorado and texas am, they should be undefeated until mizzou. How the hell can you be in the big 12 and not play Oklahoma or Texas.

Right now, I see LSU-USF in a very weird title game. Those are the only undefeated teams that I can see in the title game. How pissed would Michigan or Buckeye fans be if Hawaii makes it to the title game undefeated while an Ohio State team with say 1 loss or a Michigan team with 2 losses total get denied.
