Let the dynasty talk begin. And, yes, a dynasty is in the offing.

I thought you had to have a lot more than one cup, and have to continue to make the playoffs for years before you start the dynasty talk about a team. I think Pens fans are getting a little bit to far ahead of themselves right now.

Real classy of Lemieux to hoist the cup literally minutes after it was won. It wasn't even about him. But he couldn't resist being in the lime-light.

Anyone have a memory of Yzerman hoisting the cup last year?? Oh that's right.

Yes, yes.....

Let the dynasty talk begin.

By all means. After ONE Cup, and Won in such a dominating fashion, too.....

Yes that is totally hilarious. Let's see this makes the Ducks, Hurricanes, and Lightning all dynasties of late too. What does this make Detroit and New Jersey? Super-dynasties for winning multiple Cups?

How did the Pens get here? Oh yes they sucked so bad they got top draft picks for a few years. I actually think they need to rotate the top draft pick between conferences since the East will always get it - seems ridiculous the way it is, but a topic for another day....

How's this for a discount? We give him $10,000 and a ticket to Oregon, where he participates in their assisted suicide program and puts us all out of our misery.

LOL!!!!

Ouch, that hurts. I take it you dont think much of Hossa's playoff heroics...neither do I. All Hossa's problems were created by himself. Inside his head. Thats where it lies. His problems and play were self inflicted. He was not injured, he psyched himself out. What would be really cool if is if Hossa came back for another year at a cheap price, and decided to right himself and give everything he had and help win the team the cup. With the cap this year, it wont happen. To be honest, this cap bulls*** pisses me off. The league was better without this homo bettman and the watered down league we see. If nobody gives a s*** about these teams, why not let them go under. I liked the league in the 80's. The dynasty's were great. It's awesome to see. Let the best teams reach their true glory, let them reach their potential. Let us watch the truly best two teams battle it out for all of sports most glorious prize. The pens reached their pinnacle because they sucked due to incompetence and managed to draft(luckily) two generational talents back to back, and sucked for long enough to get these high draft picks. Both luck and incompetence played a big part in the pens sucsess. For how long have we been near the bottom of the draft, yet we still have more talent then the pens who were at the top of the draft. Our org is top to bottom better then pittsburg, and you are going to see a better wings team next year mark my words. There will be no repeat in Pittsburg, hell no. Your team has less depth now, and our boys are motivated, and will play like they want it next year, and once we get back to the same system as last year defensively, there will be no stopping us. You cant win in Joe Louis and not insult our fans and our players, you are going to see the wings at their best next year. Pittsburg repeat yeah right......

Marian Hossa says he has no regrets after watching Penguins win Stanley Cup Saturday, 06.13.2009 / 12:38 AM / News Canadian PressDETROIT - The only thing Marian Hossa would like to change is the final result of Game 7.

After watching his former teammates celebrate with the Stanley Cup on Friday night, Hossa wasn't feeling any regret about his decision to sign with the Detroit Red Wings last summer. He bolted Pittsburgh to win a championship in Motown but is going to have to wait at least one more year to achieve that goal.

"Regret? I don't regret it," Hossa said after a 2-1 loss to the Penguins in Game 7. "It could be different circumstances if I sign in Pittsburgh, they probably couldn't sign some other players and they'd be a different team.

"We could sit here for hours discussing this, but it would be a different team and it could be different things."

Hossa looked like a different player during this Stanley Cup.

The talented winger didn't even score a goal during the final and admitted that the pressure of playing the Penguins got to him. He was asked about it repeatedly over the past couple weeks.

"Whether you like it or not, there's lots of pressure," said Hossa. "You learn when the pressure is on and you learn how to handle it. It's squeezing you. It's a pretty tough one, I tried to battle hard but I couldn't get anything done offensively."

He had been one of the rallying points for a Red Wings team that has done a lot of winning in recent years. Forward Kirk Maltby, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, said he felt bad that they couldn't get another for Hossa.

After going up 2-0 in this series, the Red Wings lost four of five games to the upstart Penguins. The offence went particularly dry in Games 6 and 7, when they scored just two goals combined on goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

"It's not from a lack of effort," said Maltby. "They block a lot of shots, they clog it up."

Even though there wasn't any excuses being made in the Red Wings dressing room, it's hard to ignore the fact that a little luck wasn't on their side. They had to play without Hart Trophy finalist Pavel Datsyuk and star defencemen Nicklas Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski for stretches during these playoffs.

On top of that, fatigue might have caught up to them in the final.

"I thought we looked out of gas pretty much all series," said coach Mike Babcock. "I thought we competed, and I thought we tried. But I never thought we got to the level we'd have liked to."

They'll spend plenty of time going over what went wrong.

A year ago, the Red Wings celebrated a championship win over Hossa's Penguins on the road at Mellon Arena. As the Detroit players came out for interviews in their dressing room at Joe Louis Arena on Friday, the Penguins could clearly be heard partying it up on their ice.

It was a strange feeling for a franchise that had won four straight Stanley Cup since last losing one in 1995.

"You learn from this too," said Henrik Zetterberg, one of many Wings who shaved his playoff beard before speaking to the media. "We had our win last year - now we're on the other side. It's going to make us stronger.

"We've got a great group of guys here, everybody's going to build and learn from this."

Hossa is an unrestricted free agent again this summer and hopes to remain in Detroit. Even though the season ended with disappointment, it was one of the best of his career.

"I still had a great year in this organization," said Hossa. "Great guys, great people around. It could go both ways, just one goal makes a difference. You score one more and you celebrate.

"Sometimes that life and you just have to move on. It's a great life experience."

sounds like someone had a problem with to much pressure

I like Zetterberg's comments

That loss will maybe do good to the team on the long run.

I saw the wings playing with little passion in some games. Having such a terrible pain makes you start to HATE LOSING

The 90's Wings got that after Colorado's losses... The new generation will from this. The new guys will never want to lose again.

I'm not a fan or artricles like this. What does anyone expect Hossa to say?

"Damn I made a huge mistake, I'd I would have just stayed a Penguin I'd be sitting on $49 million and a Stanley Cup, I'm the bigest idiot in the world."

I really enjoyed watching Hossa in Detroit. I would really like him to stay as I think he can and will find his groove again, you can't keep elite players down. His defensive play was fantastic, he fit in the locker room like he'd been there all along and its been said over and over that he is just a great person. His Offense lacked when we needed it but I would bet he finds the solution and fixes it. I would not be opposed to having him sign despite a lack of playoff offence.

These are the same reasons we liked Hossa in Pittsburgh. I think the "hatred" for Hossa disapted about 45 minutes after game 7. The bar erupted in to "Hosssssaaaaa Hossssaaaa Hooooosssssssaaaaa" when they showed him right after the loss. Then I think everyone sort of let it go. The city got its pound of flesh watching him watch the Pens hoist the cup.

I wish him well in the rest of his career.

These are the statements that are so idiotic. You don't know what your team would have been like if you'd kept him.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, huh? No one here claims to know what the team woud be like with Hossa. We know that his comments and his reasoning was a slap in the face to the team. Pittsburgh fans didn't want his assessment to be true. Shutting him down in the finals was the cream on top of the Cup. Had we seen him with the SCF game winnr in game 7 it would have been heartbreaking.

We know what our team was like without him: Championship caliber.

Malkin was a bust last year, look at him this year. Hossa is that caliber of player as well....just didn't get in the groove this playoff run. He was a beast for Pitts last year.

I can't stand reading all this stuff about "Hossa sucks, see ya Hossa, etc" especially coming from the same "fans" that were saying "Hossa rocks, sign Hossa - see ya Mule, etc".

It does make it easy to tell who the bandwagon fans are though....

I'd love to see Hossa remain a Wing.

You opened my eyes. This post cap era is nothing short of a SOCIALIST NHL!!! :-) Hell, Pinko Commie is more like it!

Also, right on about Hossa and his head. I was very disappointed that he (or Babs) didn't realize that when he played WITH Flip he had success. Only in the end of game 7 did I see him try just a little to play off Flip a bit. Really, it went on FAR too long. He needed some serious coaching in adapting his game. How many times, how many times will it take us to realize that to just keep trying and hoping things will change NEVER works.

I have a pretty good feeling that Hossa resigns with the Wings. His chance to win the cup isn't over, in fact it's only going to get stronger.

Why should Hossa regret joining the best team in the league? It's an honor for any player to play here. Embrace the facts.

Detroit is Hockeytown for a reason.

Hossa's best chance to win a cup next season still resides with us. He knows this and I have a pretty good feeling that he will be back and for much less than 7 million.

I agree. I've got no hard feelings. We just had a lot going against us this year. Not saying it's right or that we couldn't have overcome it, but I think it's premature to get too up in arms about Hossa and the Red Wings. It was more than one guy and he's proven himself throughout his career to be a solid guy. If he comes back, he'll be a long time terror.

I think he will.

And I think it'll be on the cheap.

I'm a "no" for signing Hossa. There isn't any cap room, and I don't want a 4th Forward signed for a very long term. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Franzen are 3 excellent guys to build around up front. We still need room for a goaltender after Ozzie retires, and guys on the blueline. Don't have that much of the cap on the forwards, I want a well rounded team.

If you don't want a guy like Hossa for Franzen money long-term (and I think it's a possibility) then you're out of your mind. Hossa's a well-rounded player. Helps up front and on D. Very few guys like that. He'll be a monster next year.

I also remember when everyone was pissed that we resigned Datsyuk......

Signing Hossa depends on the Salary cap, and what he needs. 5 million and the cap stays? Yes. 7 million and the cap goes down? No.

I'll pass on having more then one "Kopecky" type player on the 4th line because of the cap space.

I have to agree. My worst nightmare is that we get into a situation like Tampa Bay, who had three studs signed for long term deals and had no flexibility to get anything done. It crippled the franchise. And remember, there aren't going to be many Osgood-type goaltenders - undervalued and underpriced. Eventually the Wings are going to have to pay for some goaltending, like it or not. While I wish Hossa could stay, I don't want to see all our money tied up in his contract, which is sure to be large. We'll see though - In Kenny We Trust.

I would definately keep Hudler over Hossa, and maybe even trade Hossa's rights to give us an asset. What would you do?

I would try to move up in the draft, or get a first rounder from last year
