PenaltyShot 96 521 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Well that left a really bad taste in my mouth. I thought in the second period they rekindled whatever spark they had in games 3 & 4. If the Wings can find it for more than 20 minutes they just might have a prayer in the 'Hawks building for game 7. *cue the Bon Jovi cliche music* 1 datterberg1340 reacted to this

GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 A couple of important things to consider, gang: 1) When you're icing a young team, you'll see mistakes made. Very few NHL rookies play excellent defensive hockey. 2) There's still another game in the series. Embarrassing? You mean the team that was, by the agreement of every hockey fan on the planet, greatly overachieving? Young team nothing. Our veteran players have done s*** in this series. It's just been Howard and the young guns carrying the team. They're not to blame. The experienced players are playing like they're on LSD right now. 2 datterberg1340 and F.Michael reacted to this
Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 28, 2013 The only way we win game 7 in Chicago is if Howard pulls a shutout. The only way the Wings will win game seven is if they score more goals than Chicago does. That's what hockey games boil down to. 2 Louisville and Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
puckbags 863 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 I don't think Babcock will play Smith in the next game. He just isn't ready for this. He sure as hell isn't putting a ice cold Ian White in.
Danielsm 244 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Too bad the refs don't do postgame interviews like the players. I'd love to hear the explanation behind the penalty shot. "Well I uh saw a stick go up and I had to sneeze really hard and lost focus on the game for a second or two you know.."

The lines need juggling.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 We are now 26-1-2 this year when we score 3 goals.
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Get Drapes, Cheli and Homer out of the press box. They'd play with more intensity than a lot of the players on the ice right now. Intensity isn't the problem. The reason we've made it this far is because of our intensity. We are not on the same talent level as the Hawks right now. The Hawks best players are in the prime of their careers. We're in a transition phase. We were winning because we wanted it more and we worked harder. Now the inexperience of our younger players, as well as some bad breaks, is working against us as the Hawks have matched our level of intensity.
ValpoHockey 126 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 I can't believe the no call for the high stick on Smith on their third goal, the horrible puck drop on that first goal, and the penalty shot. Those three events were baffling and directly affected the game. 1 Vladifan reacted to this
shoe 165 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 I don't think Babcock will play Smith in the next game. He just isn't ready for this. Who is he going to put in as a replacement? Press box White? Or another rookie who has played 1game in the past 3 weeks? Smith is in like it or not.
datterberg1340 626 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Wings will now need short memories before Wednesday night bad calls by the refs tonight for sure, but we reacted rather poorly to them instead of shaking it off Howard was still jawing at the ref after Frolik scored, but he looked like a deer caught in the headlights when he got scored on, totally let it get into his head our stars MUST show up for a change- Dats, Z, and Mule have 2 goals combined in 6 games in this series, that is way short of what is needed but they've almost got away with not scoring consistently b/c our 3rd and 4th lines have bailed them out but if ever there was a time that we needed them, it's Wednesday night

Gotta get Gus and Brunner more ice time..they are young, they look fresh and they can create. Give that whole line more ice time in general .
Icteria virens 11 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Don't blame the refs, Detroit played like utter garbage. Couldn't even cross the damn red line without turning it over. Win or lose Wednesday, I'm still extremely excited for next years team!! WTF are you talking about , the refs are the reason this isn't into overtime. How in the f$#@# did he deny him a reasonable goal scoring opportunity? HOW?

MTU_Huskies963 398 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 I will take a cold white over smith, sad to say that. He is directly costing the wings games. He does not look to be learning, and is making the same mistakes. You just don't lose your man like that playing man to man!
8 Legged RedWing 367 Report post Posted May 28, 2013 This is why going up 3-1 WAS such a big deal. It's very difficult to win 3 games in a row in any playoff series. If Chicago manages to do it then good for them, but this gives Babcock one more chance to get things right and the players to make some changes. Game 7 could go either way. 1 derblaueClaus reacted to this
Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Zero momentum for the Wings going back to Chicago. Already a successful season but that 3-1 series lead was such an annoying tease. 3-1 leads make a team able to lose two more games and still win the series. The Wings won three in a row. Now the Blackhawks have won two in a row. I don't see how this is in any way an earth-shattering concept. 1 Louisville reacted to this
