All good things must come to an end. Doesn't mean that everybody involved in the Wings organization is awful and needs to be canned tomorrow. Teams have down years. Wings fans may not realize this but it is okay! This team is definitely not a playoff team and that may be a good thing as it may be the beginning of significant changes and a new era of success.

That's always been Howard. He's got the talent to be one of the best in the league night in night out, but he's prone to mental breakdowns and sudden lapses in his game at really bad times. You never know when it will strike. That's why he will never be the goalie to get the Wings back to a Cup win, regardless of who is in front of him.

On we go to Saturday.  None of the Wings want to lose, so I know they're doing their best.  Their best is not good right now, is all.  Only the players can turn this around.  Let's see if they can do it.  I for one won't leave them, love them when they are great, and love them now.

Saw the Lidstrom Hat Trick on the Wings' Facebook today. I remember when we were complaining about how that 2010 season was going. This year is gonna sting but it's probably necessary.

Agreed. This down period was inevitable with the salary cap unless you are bang on with most of your draft picks or can attract some elite players away from the teams that drafted them. Not happening.

Nobody said that but changes need to be made at the top. Holland never had to endure a rebuild, so obviously he has no experience and it shows.

The problem is, some of the contracts given out on July 1 will make it tough to unload them. Who is going to take on Nielson? That's not a signing a team in for a rebuild should make, heck unless there are superstars stay away from July 1. Last year would have been a good time for some changes at least now even the biggest fans have come to terms with reality.

Holland should work the phones and see what the offers for Green, Vanek are and hopefully create a bidding war for them. Prospects, Picks will be needed more than anything

The third period was half over and we only had 10 SOG for the whole game.  Blowing third period leads, losing to garbage teams like Arizona and barely getting the puck on net.  Unfortunately, this isn't a problem that will go away with a couple moves.   I wish it was.  Maybe get a couple guys back and things would improve.  That's not going to happen now though.  Overpaid players and bad coaching(imo) is killing us and that's not a quick fix.  

On the plus side, Vanek and Howard are playing well enough to trade.  Green too.  So at least we'll free up some cap space in the coming years.

I hope Lombardi stays a bit longer and lectures Kenny on how to approach a rebuild.

Blashill also could use some tips when it comes down to structure from Sutter.

Holland should have kept Dats' contract on the books and snagged Chychrun instead of shedding salary to sign a "replacement". Wouldn't need to worry bout Nielson's contract, and they'd have a big talented hard hitting D prospect who is NHL ready or very close to it. I bring that draft day move up a lot, but it's a real piss off, especially with the team going nowhere fast.

I never expected Chychrun to still be there when the Wings picked. It was like fate. Then Holland had to go f*** it all up.

Watching the replay. First, what the hell is Osgood smoking? Please pass whatever it is. he stated "I expect this to be the RW's best game of the year"... then followed it up with "I expect a playoff atmosphere tonight".... Is he high? How do you have that type of atmosphere with a half empty arena?

Everytime you see something that makes sense, like a Mantha-AA-Larkin line you see Sproul and Green on the PP together. Then you have PP untis with no Mantha on them... really?

I could go on, but what is the point? OMG, the RW's have pushed me to that point!

Ozzie is a pretty bad analyst - yeah a 0.500 hockey team is going to have a playoff atmosphere in mid December during the work week. Anyone know the last time the Wings were below 0.500 in mid-December?

Keep taking shots Dickie. When are you going to realize that this is a league of parity where there are a few great teams, then a s*** ton of average to below average teams. NOBODY has said this team is great this year, nobody has even really said they are good. The argument has always been they are average. Or is the word average to "rose colored" for you?

I think Trashill has officially lost the team. They dont want to play for him or hes to much Babs 2.0 so they are tuning him out. At the start of the season they werent good but atleast you could see them pushing hard to grind some results. Now that they are falling farther down the standings I dont see much heart or urgency.
