On Ask Ansar, Khan says Coreau will be the back up next year (I assume that means Mrazek is gone)

He also says, if Zetterberg goes to LTIR for any amount of seasons remaining on his contract, the organization would still consider him part of the team, and would not name a new captain until he's officially retired. Interesting... that means Franzen is still a team member too ;)

On the team in Heaven yea.

Right, it doesn't surprise me at all that his name isn't getting any play. I just think he'd be a good add for some teams and I think we could get a decent return for him (assuming he keeps producing like he has been lately), so I'm hoping our potential trade chips aren't limited to the guys on expiring contracts.

I don't have McKenzie or Dreger's connections, but I find it hard to believe that teams aren't inquiring about Nyquist, especially when the Wings are supposed to be 'rebuilding' and he's been playing so well lately.

Sometimes I feel like Holland holds on to guys when they start playing well in order to justify his contracts. Its like "See, I was right! They are worth that." When he should instead be trading them for maximum value.

I actually do think Holland would like to move Nyquist, and I'm willing to bet he's had some discussions about it with several GMs. I just want his name in the rumor mill. Because I'm a HYPE! addict. :(

The Detroit Red Wings are another team worth monitoring in the days and weeks ahead. The Wings remain competitive even though it would be best for the organization to flounder and sink into the mix of a top lottery contender.

Mike Green is an obvious trade option in Detroit and there will be interest in the veteran, right-shot defenceman. Petr Mrazek is also widely known to be available. Based on his age, the 25-year-old goaltender might attract interest from clubs wanting depth at the position.

Perhaps the most appealing among the options in Motown is talented winger Tomas Tatar. Tatar scored 25 goals for the Red Wings last season and has three more years remaining on his contract at $5.3 million per. The ask is believed to include a prospect and draft picks as Detroit continues to retool.

With nine draft picks already in the bank, the Red Wings are aiming to add at least another two or three through trades. The team hopes to go into the NHL Draft in Dallas with a dozen picks or more.

I am sure tires are being kicked. Besides demand will go up the closer we get to the deadline. My concern is that Nyquist's play starts to decline before that and his value then goes down. Its a gamble for sure.

I'm okay with either Nyquist or Tatar being traded... maybe even both.

What do we think either of them would net us?

I could see one being traded, but not both. I would like to see something like a 2nd, a legit prospect D to start and then go from there. Could end up multiple pieces going both ways.

Rumor:  Jack Johnson is gonna get that trade he so badly wants.

...but it's going to be to a team he doesn't want to go to, isn't going to give him the ice time he wants, and will further expose him as the defenseman he has become resulting in a bad showing for his pending UFA status this offseason.

I get it, dude.  You need a nice contract to fix all your money woes.  ...but your playoff bound team needs you even in the limited role you've got... and you wanna ask for a trade right now?   ???

We can't afford to trade both Nyquist and Tatar, We can replace one with Svechnikov but who do you replace the other with unless we sign either Evander Kane or James Van Riemsdyke and both cost far more then either Nyquist or Tatar.

It depends on the return.  If both of them bring in 2nd round picks or good prospects, that will be more valuable for the team by the time they're contenders than keeping them will be.  If the return is just a mid round pick or two, or mid level prospects, you keep them.

I'd much rather trade Tatar, but I think Nyquist would garner more in a trade. I'd be open to moving either or both, but only if it's for a good return. I'd trade Tatar for a 2nd, but I'd want a little more than that for Nyquist. Either a 1st, or 2nd, plus a solid prospect.

How come the difference? Contract?

Rather keep Tatar , don't know why you'd be willing to let him go for only a second , put him in Pitts,Edm,chi type teams he gets 30-35 easy

I'm guessing. Nyquist 1 year 4.75. Tatar 3 years at 5.3 each. Similar players.

So you'd rather trade Nyquist? He's not the future anymore? :shout:

Mostly, yes. His contract would be more attractive to contending teams in both term and dollars. But also because I think Nyquist is a better all around player than Tatar.

Why would you rather keep Tatar? Nyquist is the better player (in my opinion), and he's on a much better contract (again, in my opinion)...

Didn't someone just say that the ask for Tatar was a pick and a prospect? I'd say that would be a nice return. I'll trade him to Vegas for a 3rd and Haugue.  ...not giving up yet! Hee hee!

I´ve heard rumor saying Howard is on to move to Islanders.

Normally, I wouldn´t even bother, more while it came from czech journalist. But that journalist is long term t with excelent connections and knowledge about NHL background.

All joking aside, that's the sort of trade I'd like to see Holland trying to make. Not necessarily Hague, but a defenseman around that age (19-21), with that sort of upside. I don't think we'd get that much for Tatar though. I'd possibly do Tatar for *high end defense prospect* straight up though.

Can't see Howard being dealt to the Islanders there's been strong suggestion that Garth Snow is after Robin Lehner. Though i would do something based around Howard and Nelson.

It was Petr Adler, former Edmonton Journal writer.

Source : https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/315099/deravi-brankari-ostrovanov-buducnost-halaka-v-nhl-je-sporna/

It´s in slovak, hence not sure if helpfull, but it´s an arcicle about future of Slovak goalies in NHL.

There´s is Adler quoted in one part sayin:

„Je predčasné robiť závery, no v Detroite už teraz cvrlikajú vrabce na strechách, že brankár „červených krídel“ Jimmy Howard má už takmer namierené do New Yorku a práve výmenou za Haláka. Howard má 33 rokov, Halák 32, obaja sú svojím spôsobom dobrí a obaja budú po skončení sezóny neobmedzene voľnými hráčmi,” hodnotí pre ŠPORT.SK renomovaný kanadský expert na NHL Peter Adler.

"It´s still too soon, but there are already voices whispering in Detroit, that Red Wings Jimmy Howard is almost done to move to NY for Halak. Howard is 33, Halak 32, both somehow good, both ufa after season ".. (which is actually not true, Howard is ufa in 2019).
