Sorry Newfy, but a lot of this is your pure opinion on your part and is pretty far off base. How many players have came through the ranks of the NHL with the utmost highest skill set to be a dominate player, but because they lacked the mental fortitude, ended up sucking and not cutting it? Answer: a s*** ton. You're potential is maxed out at 28? LOL. And why exactly is he soft? Because he isn't Canadian? If iFlip has the mental toughness and hockey sense of a second or first line player and the skill set of a 3rd/2nd liner, then he has the potential to put up Cleary like numbers and be a decent 3rd line player. Although he isn't coming in as a early 20 player, his mental toughness and the way he is able to see the game better than most very young and raw players. he'll do fine, and if it's not this year then it'll be next year, and if it's not next year, then it'll be the year after with another team most likely. Good luck iFlip, don't worry about the handful of haters!!! The ratio of people that like this move to the ones that don't are very high to very little.

    Nathan Horton

Neither Hossa nor Franzen scored at a 50-goal pace on Datsyuk's wing, and Horton is better than neither of them.

    Another funny Datsyuk interview.

Because some people clearly think they know better than Holland. For everyone bitching about potential. Get one thing straight. Potential isn't some video game. In hockey, potential means 'the ability to". Nothing more nothing less. iFlip has potential to be a good player. He has potential to be a player who can be a 20-20 player once he learns the North American game. As many European players have stated, playing in the NHL with better players raises your game. iFlip has potential whether you like it or not. So stop acting like you know everything and lets discuss how we (the Wings) can best utilize this guy's abilities.

Is it time to trade Cleary?

Wow, this line thread is really going to hell. If only we had another 50 threads in which to discuss exactly the same thing. Thanks blueadams.

    Nathan Horton

Franzen's a proven playoff performer. He also has only got top-line playing time in the last in recent years and his points total are low last year because of injury. You can say Horton plays with inferior players and that's certainly true, but he's also had more opportunities for top-line minutes but hasn't produced at a top-line level.

Ya and Kirk Maltby once scored 50 goals in juniors too! at Hudler being labeled a sniper! Yep, just like we all fear, same team plus Hudler, Stanley Cup here we come!

    Bertuzzi Signs 2 Year Deal

In short, I think this contract is in the ballpark for Bert. It's up to him to see if it works out to be a great deal or a mistake. He certainly has the potential to score goals, make plays, and knock guys around. I'd be okay with the penalties he takes if it was for being physical and not taking his hand off the stick and grabbing a guy.

Just as Hudler was 2 years ago, right? Oh wait...

    Funny interview with Datsyuk

HAHAHA Pav is hilarious! Like honestly partying with this dude would be the most epic thing ever! s*** you not too on this story and forgive me if its rambling but.... Was standing outside of the Joe after the Mule's just dominating performance against the Sharks which ultimately was the last home game of the year, but I digress. So me and a few buddies were hanging with the other psychos waiting to see these dudes pull out in their BMW SUV's or Babs' huge F-150 he was driving, Hank's Mercedes, you know all that. I see these young ladies walking by in little skirts and just made a small crack "Hey and there goes Pav's hookers I bet" ya know hahaha all that got some laughs. Not 10 minutes later here comes Pav driving out of the lot and a second later, the same girls in a car as well. Funniest s*** ever or just coincidence who knows. But wouldn't surprise me. Pav you are an inspiration!!

I don't know why owners buy teams if they aren't willing to spend money on them. Do they expect fans to buy tickets when they trade away good players from their playoff team and leave tons of cap space unused? Would be really tough to be a fan on a team that isn't even trying to win.

    Halak traded to Blues

Blues win this trade. Price as your number 1 after the playoff that Halak had? I weep for you, Habs. (not really.)

Same thing they did with Mac. 1yr 500k, 2way contract. Plays in GR all year, joins the team for the playoffs but likely doesnt play. I wouldnt mind, if we did it for Mac we can do it for Malts.

Yeah, that's definitely a great logic. I also bet all defensemen are using Campbell's salary as a comparison when negotiating for a contract.

Is it time to trade Cleary?

At least 10-15 more goals? Also the ability to play top 6 minutes.

Is it time to trade Cleary?

He was all banged up last year. He provides front net presence, PK ability, defensive play and physicality along with 20 goals when he is healthy. His impact is felt much more off the score sheet then on. Now if he struggles to get the puck in the net by the trade deadline then I can see trying to shop him around, but that will be a hard thing to sell.

Richards hit on Booth shouldn't be on the list, it was a clear hit to the head, the fact that it was a blindside does not bother me. I think Weavers hit should be #2 behind Suttons as well. But dirty hits to the head should get no recognition.

I still say the hit on Booth is dirty.
