Rafalski is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. He might be overpaid, but it's not egregious. And overpayment tends to happen when you sign elite players when they are a free agent in their prime.

    Lilja May Test Market

First we lose Downey, then we lose May, and now we're going to lose Lilja. This sucks.

You mean an objective view of the Rafalski signing? Not influenced by homerism and those who blame him for everything? MUST be wrong.

Why are we resigning Miller? We have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Holmstrom, Bertuzzi, Hudler, Cleary, and Filppula as the top eight. Beyond that, we have Helm and Eaves who are far more impressive than Miller, as well as Abdelkader and this supposed gritty fourth line forward Holland is looking for. On top of that, we have Ritola, a center who can no longer play in the AHL without passing waivers, and Draper, who seems to have tremendous chemistry with Helm and Eaves. By my count, that is 14 players BEFORE adding Miller. Where does he fit in? Who else might be the odd man (men) out?

If the claim is before November 1, waiver priority is based on the previous year's standings, with the team with the worst record having first priority and the team with the best record having last priority. If the claim is after November 1, waiver priority is based on the current year's standings, defined as the lowest percentage of possible points.

You know Hossa's 3 goals and solid defensive play are what put Chicago over the edge. You'd be a fool to think otherwise. Yes I'm being sarcastic.

    Modano done in Dallas

Messier really doesn't fall into the same category as Sakic, Yzerman or Modano.

    Lilja May Test Market

If we lose Lilja, Holland better better ink a veteran to ease the blow. Not only that, locating a veteran that provides everything Lilja does for his price tag will be beyond tough.

    Modano done in Dallas

If Holland went after Modano, this would be a great off season. He'd still be a great third line center and we'd have the best third line in the league. I'm pretty sure we have the space. DO IT HOLLAND!

    Modano done in Dallas

Dallas should have let him retire as a Star like Red Wings did with Yzerman. Modano was Star's Yzerman, but they certainly don't have the same loyalty as the Red Wings have. That's just another reason why the Red Wings are the best franchise in the NHL.

Savard to waive no trade clause

Agreed. While I'm not very fond of Savards contract I've always viewed him as one of the most underrated players in the game. 97pts in 05/06 96pts in 06/07 78pts in 07/08 88pts in 08/09 Those kind of numbers are worthy of recognition but the guy never gets his credit. He's always been viewed as an afterthought, which is a damn shame. If this son of a ***** put up these kind of numbers in a Maple Leafs uniform he would be declared a national hero!

    FIFA World Cup 2010

It's a joke sport, at the moment. I love the game, played it my whole life, but it's a complete joke with Sepp Blatter in charge. In tonight's Mexico v Argentina game, Argentina score an offside goal, and they show a replay in the stadium in seconds so that everybody can see that it should not count. But the officials, knowing that they're wrong, feel compelled to ignore it. "DURRR, we're not allowed to look at video technology! Sorry!" It's absolutely farcical. It'll continue to be a joke sport until that odious, greedy cretin Blatter goes. (although they'll probably replace him with someone equally as bad). The only positive from these terrible decisions is that it might mean pressure for him to resign. After France hand-balled their way to the World Cup in the playoff against Ireland, everybody said they must introduce Video Technology before it ruins a major tournament. He ignored it. Hope he reaps what he has sown. And people think Bettman and the NHL officiating is bad!

You're all lucky bastards. I'll be watching on AHL lives next season as me and Drumnj will stream every game live like last season. Even those that dont go to the games, you still get to watch for free whilst my wallet gets a pounding!

Nothing will prepare you for Red Wing hockey like throwing a bunch of undersized players with no gritty support into a North American rink full of goons wearing the opposite jersey!

I know this will be the third thread that involves this goal and I'm sorry if that annoys anyone but I've been waiting a while to add a new goal to this list. Datsyuk's move was so great that it really overshadowed the awesome pass by Zetterberg. Like many on here have already said, "It was like he just knew where he was going to be."
