Good game guys, the Wings have been one of my favorite teams for years, and I do hope you guys come out of the West. I can't STAND any of the other Western teams.

I watch games like this so that the wins are THAT much sweeter. See you all Friday and Happy Turkey Lurkey to all you Americans!

I live in Raleigh, and the canes are the 2nd team I follow closely. We despise the penguins here in Raleigh about as much as i'm sure they do in Detroit. Makes me sick, every time there's a pens game the little pittsburgh transplants come out of the woodwork. Anyway, the call was beyond weak. The News and Record beat guy (who does a good job of cover hockey btw) inquired the league about it who said basically "Toronto's sole job was to determine if the puck had crossed the line, which it did." They claimed they had no sound in Toronto (bull s***,....as the numerous "intent to blow" penalties have bitten us) so they only cared about if it went in. Here's my thing though......we've had about 12 of these goals go the other way,...I.E. the whistle blows (or doesn't lol) and the ref says the play was dead. The replay very CLEARLY shows the whistle go off long before the puck goes in, yet it's a penguins goal? At some point, people are going to wake up. All around the league everyone calls red wings fans "tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist" because of the 09 playoffs. But how many teams does s*** like this have to happen to when pitts is involved before someone discovers an email or something letting us all know something we've all secretly believed for years; the NHL has favorites and the calls go towards those favorites. I only saw the actual replay not the game in time before. Look at Crosby,...jabbering away at the refs. Now I know that's what captains do, but then,.....the ref who's hearing all this motions to him like,..."ok okay, we're going to give it to you, calm down". Any other player in the NHL the ref doesn't even give them the time of day and asks the player to step away. Shessh guys,...at least act like he doesn't have your ear 90% of the time.

When we saw Pav and Z play together this year they really didn't look all that great. With Babs hell bent on keeping them apart, I've been wondering about whether or not they'll ever be able to recreate the magic. YT has 'Top Plays with Lecavalier and St. Louis' and I thought, "Why don't they have one of these for Datsyuk and Zetterberg?" So to the best of my ability and access to footage as a fan, I made one myself. Even though the NHL doesn't have footage stored from 02-03 or 03-04, I feel as if I remember those years fairly well enough that I'm not missing a goal when it comes to pretty plays between the two. I just wrote a ten page paper on the history of the Detroit Red Wings for my rhetoric class, but my professor wants us to create visual aids to go along with it. I was wondering if anyone had seen any videos or clips that sums up the franchise from start to finish. Any ideas could be very helpful.This is the best thing I could find surfing the web.

Trade Him....not Leino style. Hudler can play, he can (and will) be valuable on another team but his seat was taken when he opted to leave for more money... too bad, so sad. You leave the best org in Pro Sports for more money to come crying back and find you are no longer a good fit... Loser! I think they trade him but get something suitable in return not just trade him for the sake of trading him.

Huds has a countdown timer on his head. I get the feeling Babs will sit him a few games, then rotate him in. Hudler's best chance right now is to wait for an injury, and get in and produce. As it stands right now, he's at a .31 PPG. If he played 82 healthy games that puts him on pace for 25 points, total. That is about 1/3 of his expectation, and less than half of what is basically required of him. Hudler doesn't take face-offs as a Center. He's averaging a 3% shot percentage, and has 1 goal in 16 games. At a -5, he is the lowest player on our team. Helm, on the other hand, is getting the same point production, but plays a ton of time on the Penalty Kill, and isn't in a scoring role. Helm is faster, smarter with the puck, and more aggressive. Helm is a +3, and does take occasional face-offs. It's possible Hudler could have a breakout, but he's not showing any signs of it. Usually when guys slump like Flip, for example, he is still working hard, and getting chances. When Hudler slumps, he just goes home. Hudlers one goal came off the back of a goaltender. Technically it was more of a lucky bounce. I was glad to see Hudler come back, but then again I was expecting it to be the 20+ goals Hudler. Right now, I would bench Hudler over Miller, Eaves, Helm, or abdelkader. Between the two I'd rather have Modano out there than Hudler, because at least Modano has a track record of success, something Hudler has mostly left blank on his resume in the NHL. Bottom line....when you're sitting a guy who was suppose to be a 3rd/2nd line center, because you have minor league players that are playing better than he is, it's time to consider other options. Even if we do keep Hudler around for injury purposes, I'm firmly convinced at this point that we could eenie meenie miney mo the Grand Rapids team, and get similar or greater point production than Hudler has provided so far. I like the guy. Really I do. I think he has a lot of individual talent. But we've mixed him into multiple line combination's, and he just isn't clicking anywhere, or with anyone. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of holes in our team. There isn't much short term to look into trading him for. Hudler isn't exactly making himself prize trade bait either. Any team that considers him will have to be a team that believes they have the perfect fit for him, and even then it's a gamble. I'm not one for fear mongering, but finding a way to get something out of Hudler will serve as an example to future Detroit prospects. There isn't a lot of room for slackers on this team, and too many low end guys are too eager to make it to the NHL. It is my belief, and call me crazy, but as an NHL centerman, you should probably be playing at a level above your AHL prospects.

it doesn't help when your defensemen is commiting to the player with the puck instead of covering the other player on a 2 on 1 situation which happened twice, how is the goalie supposed to anticipate the pass or shot when hes out of position because of it. Hockey 101, cover the open man.

It must be the stream. The screen is only showing less than half the view so you can hardly see anything; I imagine it must be very difficult for the Wings to play under those conditions.

I think the defense needs a serious slap in the face. But it's not just them. Why is it every time we pass the puck it goes straight to an Atlanta player, and every time a Wing has the puck he ends up having it bounce over his stick? Just a game full of bad breaks, made worse by bad defense and no offense.

Only as a way to shake up the Wings... this isn't Howard's fault. He must be scrambling mentally to figure out how he's going to stop pucks with no D and score a couple of goals, right now. I've seen this before. The Wings left their brains in their hockey bags, so they can make a quick exit to the plane and get on with Turkey Day!!

Mmmmm.. turkey and stuffing. I hope those turkeys will start stuffing the puck in the net before they head home to their turkeys and stuffings.

Every game starts this way. I don't think we've played well in the first period all year long. Long as Atlanta doesn't go up 3-0 or something, I won't worry about this game until the final ten minutes.

The "return" isn't really the "who" we get in exchange for Piddler, but rather the CAP SPACE! We'll free up close to 3mil plus a roster space that we can use to sign a 5-6mil/yr guy at or before the trade deadline. How good would a 30 goal scorer who brings some nastiness look on the third line with Cleary and Modano for the playoffs? Hudler's cap space and roster spot could make that happen. I could care less if we get a pop tart and glass of milk for the little traitor... he can run back to the KHL with his tail between his legs and play over there which is where he went last year anyways. It's addition by subtraction in this case and I WANT a big time scorer on the third line to help balance out the top three lines come playoff time.

Detroit Free Press posted an article about how he's not happy about being scratched. Personally, I dont think he turns it around. He wasnt playimg well in the bottom 6 so we put him with Filppula and he still isn't producing. He's running out of excuses.

I agree with you there. What we'll get in return for him will be little, but something nonetheless.

Miller deserves to play by his PK ability alone, hudler does nothing for this team and has not improved at all in 15-16 games that he played, you just gotta ice the best team every night especially on the road.
