Please let this happen! Oh and the Florida Panthers have always had a cool logo and name. Why should they change the only good thing about their team?

Too much hypocrisy around here. When we carried Downey, May or McCarty during the last few seasons, I don't remember too many posters here bitching about how useless those players were and how they were just taking up roster spots. Now everyone seems to think an enforcer has no business on this roster unless he can also score 20 points or so. I'm confident that if Holland and company ever changed their long-term philosophy on this (which they never will), peeople here would have a totally different outlook on the "enforcer" role in hockey and whether it would be a good fit on this team.

Duh you guys, it's gonna be the Pittsburgh Crosby's..... The jersey change is from White//black/Yellow Ocre to Canary Yellow/sky blue and White with a dominate yellow stripe down the back and a diving board for a logo! I swear you guys are sooooo naive!

Kris Draper Works Out With Lions

Yeah its not like Suh is busy with huge endorsements or anything. Anyone who questions this guys work ethic and dedication is beyond stupid, seriously the guy is a beast. With him leading the charge the lions just might, dare I say, make a playoff push next season

Abby, Salei and Bertuzzi probably take more dumb penalties than any of those players.

    Flyers acquire Bryzgalov's rights

Maybe grass goes thru a goose as fast as chocolate milk goes thru my 4 year old! YUCK! Anyhow, I am surprised the Isle's weren't all over this, they could really use a goalie!

A lot of your points make sense actually. The wings need to toughen up on the bottom lines. I find it hilarious that some people dont realize that when they have more balance and have their more physical teams, they are better off. 08 had Drake, Mac, Downey (all season), Helm playing a small role so all he did was run guys, Kronwall on his A game taking guys heads off and Stuart being more physical as well. It isnt about getting an enforcer, its about getting tougher players who can throw some big hits and wear other teams down. Usually players like this are the type who will drop the gloves as well so the term enforcer gets tossed aruond for them. Mccormick, Konopka, Prust etc are role players who also fill the role of enforcer as well as PK, hit etc. The wings need some players like this. The wings are in the bottom half on the PK, and Drew Miller isnt even their top PK guy, so why does his penalty killing make him a shoe in for this team? People here think the wings can just win it on skill, well sorry to break it to you but with Bert, Homer etc in their top 6, they plain and simple cant do that anymore. They need to be able to wear teams down instead of just getting worn down all the time. The 08 team was tough and could wear teams down, the teams of recent years couldnt

    Aaron Rome

You really should. It takes a couple views to really get what's happening. To the folks still claiming this was a blindside hit, you need to pause your way thru the :52 mark of the video back in post #7. Rome nearly comes to a stop before jumping into Horton. Pause thru the video and see. At the moment of impact, the only part of Rome not directly in front of Horton is the right leg that he used to plant himself (you can see the ice spray from that plant near the end of the video if you want to). Even at the moment of impact, Horton is still admiring his pass, but the angle of body contact is nearly face-to-face. You can also see that Horton's accelerating stride (with his left leg, as he presumably heads to the net) actually angles his body toward the hit.

    Thoughts on Joni Pitkanen

I haven't seen a lot of Carolina games in the last few years, but I'm really liking what I'm hearing about Joni Pitkanen, and I wanted to hear what the board thought of him. He's young-ish (27). He's big. He's physical. He's solid defensively. He's got a lot of offensive talent. And he sort of seems to be flying under the radar, so he might be had at a reasonable price. It sounds like he's had consistency issues, but the Red Wing way takes care of a lot of that stuff traditionally. I'd rather have Bieksa or Ehroff, but I think that both of those guys are going to get priced out of Holland's range for them. Kaberle's too soft for my taste. And Wisniewski kind of scares me as a 'one-hit-wonder' guy. Jovanovski I wouldn't mind I guess. But Pitkanen could be a long-term piece at 27 years old. Thoughts?

SCF: Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks

I loved this article; they need to hire Cam Cole as the interim Canucks coach as Vigneault is lost at this point. The fact that he couldn't see anything wrong with this hit (moral relativism based on coaching loyalties) is what bothers me about this whole thing. "If Horton wasn’t already out before he hit the ice, he was by the time the back of his helmeted head struck the surface — and the helmet might well have saved his life." I stated this very thing to my girlfriend last night about this type of hit. Without his helmet, Horton is most likely dead after a hit of that magnitude. Fans love to talk about how Kronwall stones people at the blue line, however the puck being in possession is the key to determining the difference between a hockey play and a late hit. In the case of this hit on Horton, what I don't like about it is how late the hit occurs. To me, hockey needs to be about respect between players. I would have had no issue if a hip check had been placed as that would have been enough of a wake up call for Horton to keep his head up at center ice (Insert Mickey Redmond's voice here). However, Vancouver opted to play the game differently and now they've woken a sleeping giant. The Canucks trainer is going to be having some long nights over the next week or so.

Tomas Vokoun? Phoenix is as good as Nashville ever was when he was there, and has a solid young roster. He should certainly be interested. Chris Mason will also probably be available via trade. Boucher, Roloson (if he doesn't retire or stay in Tampa), Leighton or Bobrovsky via another trade with Philly, Giguere, Harding, Hedberg, Theodore, Auld. Sure, most of those guys aren't Bryzgalov. But none of them, except possibly Vokoun, carry his price tag.
