$3.25mil per year? You've got to be kidding.

In what universe is Ericsson worth 3.25mil a season??? I love Holland and agree with 99.99% of the things he does...but he f***ed up on this one if true...

I appreciate what Holland has done in the past (even though a lot of that credit should go to Ilitch's money, Bowman, no salary cap, Yzerman and Lidstrom). However, I haven't been too keen on his unwillingness to make deadline moves the last two seasons, coupled with the Modano and Hudler acqusitions, and now this Ericsson overpayment. In sports, it's what have you done for me lately. That's the way thinking should go, otherwise teams won't ever progress anywhere by living in the past.

Ericsson is such an interesting player. He gets alot of hate on here, yet Babcock logs him a ton of minutes and Holland signs him to $3.25 a year for 3 years. I'm glad he's back, although I don't agree with the price, but Babcock and Holland know more than I do.

So much for Holland thinking that all the free agents were getting overpaid. This is the worst signing so far by any team. Worse than Kopecky getting $3 million.

Even at 3.25 a year, inflatted now won't be as bad with cap raises. Also, who would we fill the spot with better? Everyone who had to trade away rights couldn't sign their guy for this much. E will be good at 5th and hopefully move up, wtg Kenny, now you can focus on tomorrow.

Yeah, I agree that it is REALLY overreacting to want to fire Holland after one bad move. He's been the best GM for a while now--especially since he doesn't do stupid things. However, this one move was extremely stupid. Call a spade a spade and admit this was a stupid, stupid signing. Constantly praising Holland and belittling those criticizing him doesn't make you more of a fan. People have the right to be upset with something like this. They're upset because they care. Obviously, as a result, they're going to make those over-dramatic statements you incessantly gripe about. I'm truly worried that this signing could set an extremely bad precedent. How much are Kronwall and Stuart going to want? Surely, they'll want at minimum $5-5.5M now. It's tough to justify them taking much less when ******* Ericsson is making $3.25M.
