    Backup Goalie?

I voted Oz, but I was really torn between him and Conk. Heart says Oz, but Conk will be fine. Brain says Conk, but Oz will be fine. I guess whatever happens, I will be a little happy and a little sad.

I'm hoping that when the case was thrown out, Al Sobotka picked it up and twirled it around his head before leaving the courthouse.

    Defensive pairings

EXACTLY the line pairings I want to see! Bravo! +1 for you! For those of you who think it, it won't happen, Commodore WILL NOT be the 7th defenseman... He may sit once in awhile to allow Kindl some playing time, but Kindl (if he reamins a Red Wing) will be the 7th defenseman.

    Seating Question

Center Ice would be the better seats, for sure.

Other goalies have rebounded from groin hip/groin injuries, most recently Tim Thomas or even in 2008 Dom Hasek. Osgood may have a year or so left in him if healthy.

Wings re-sign MacDonald to 2 year contract

What does signing MacDonald have to do with Osgood? Osgood is done. I much rather see Ty Conklin or Bobrovsky here to actually be a viable backup (they would be pushing Jimmy to be his best, not trying to keep up).

    Backup Goalie?

I think he may actually go with Ozzie if they talk and Oz feels that he is ready to go. It would be nice to have Ozzie as the back up and Conklin in the wings just in case something happens, although if Conklin doesn't get a chance to really play the it's a waste for him. I've said that I don't like when we sign the old guys for a 1 year contract, but that's mostly the non-Wings coming here for their last hurrah. I just want Osgood to have a chance to go out on his terms and hopefully in a good way.

I agree with you that a lot of us Wings fans are going to be a little bias, and pick our main man Pavel.... But I don't think the stats that you are throwing at us are the only one's that matter... Sure, goals and assists are damn important but that's not what Datsyuk is all about, he brings so much more to the table in my opinion.... You pointed out many stats where Ovechkin was dominant over Datsyuk but there are also many where Datsyuk is dominant over Ovechkin... here is just one stat that I'd like to throw out there... Takeaways / Giveaways Pavel Datsyuk 2006-07 (107 / 86 = +21) 2007-08 (144 / 68 = +76) 2008-09 (89 / 50 = +39) 2009-10 (132 / 73 = +59) 2010-11 (71 / 38 = +33) Total Past 5 years = +228 Alex Ovechkin 2006-07 (67 / 95 = -28) 2007-08 (68 / 93 = -25) 2008-09 (60 / 107 = -47) 2009-10 (66 / 76 = -10) 2010-11 (48 / 59 = -11) Total Past 5 years = -121 Something else that needs to be taken in account is the fact that Pavel can and does play in ALL situations... Datsyuk plays even strength, power-play, penalty kill, and the last minute of every game when his team is up OR down a goal, whereas Ovechkin plays even strength, power-play and when his team is down a goal (basically just in offensive situations) Ovechkin is a much more of an explosive offensive threat but Datsuk is much, much better over 200 feet of the ice and I'd take a player like Pav over Ovi any day...

Think about it...this should be an absolute no-brainer. Who's got two Stanley Cups, and who doesn't? Who has three Selke trophies, and who doesn't? And who is getting up and coming players compared to them? Wanna take a wild guess?

We can hope can we not?

Let's look at it like this: The Blues sold out all 19,150 seats at Scottrade Center 41 of 41 times last season. (ESPN) The Blues are 11.5 million under the cap thus far. (capgeek) The Blues are probably some postseason success away from frenzy-ing the populace in STL since the cardinals are standing to lose Pujols and inevitably slide, plus the rams are still sucking. The Blues probably aren't bleeding money. The team was bought, mostly, on a loan of $120 million (or 80% of the final sale price) which was written in 2006, prior to the housing bubble burst. Checketts and Co. probably are getting pressure from CitiGroup (bailout anyone?) to pay back. So Hulsizer pulls out of the deal with Phoenix because the details on that get sketchier by the minute. St Louis is a solid team with a fanbase established, and money ready to be printed. After all, Hulsizer wasn't planning on buying a team to move like Balsille or TNSE. It boils down to this: Get a stable owner who is willing to use some $. Get the tickets to a reasonable price level to sustain the team somewhat, because if they're bleeding 10-15 million a year (one post on that thread in the link) while still being that much under the cap, what are they selling tickets for? 50 cents?

The glamorous pick is Ovechkin. Overall though, it's Datsyuk. Didn't Pav win some "Best Russian player" award recently?

Saying that Ericsson will/should be playing on the right side with Lidstrom is like saying that he should be our 1st line center...

I can't be the only one that thought Lidstrom - Stuart didn't work at all. How is Ian White a plug? He was one of the few solid dmen on a s***ty Toronto team and was good in the playoffs for SJ last year.

Ericsson is very, very good at moving the puck. I've never seen so many crisp, clean, tape-to-tape passes to the other team's forwards before.
