You deserved every bit of your response. It may have been time for to move on, pretty much everybody here gets that. It's all about the delivery though. And your delivery was awful, bascially like a "See ya wouldn't want to be ya" response disrespecting a guy who accomplished so much here and accomplished so much while getting ragged on by his own fanbase, regardless of whether you like him or not. So you should not be shocked one bit at some of the negative responses you got back. Not that hard to understand. Think about it for a bit.

    Game 7 Sharks vs Wings

If I remember correctly, it went something like this: Datsyuk - Datsyuk - Datsyuk Datsyuk - Datsyuk - Datsyuk Datsyuk - Datsyuk - Datsyuk Datsyuk - Datsyuk - Datsyuk

    Thank You Chris Osgood!

Thank you for all the memories Ozzie. You were my first hockey hero growing up and although i'm an adult, I still look up to you. As usual, you put the team before yourself and chose to end your HHOF career at a time that was not only appropriate for you, but most appropriate for the Detroit Red Wings. I'm not sure what the future holds for you, but know you are a Red Wing for life. I will make sure my kids know of the Great Wizard of Oz, how you could bring the Joe to a roar with every save, and how you knocked that POS Roy ON HIS ASS! Enjoy your retirement Ozzie, you deserve it! Edit: reading my post brings a tear to my eye. We will miss you Ozzie.

Is this a baby video of Sidney Crosby?

Was watching AFV and found this home made video. I am not sure who the baby is, I am thinking either Sidney Crosby or Joe Thornton. You tell me...

The Dive at :17 makes me think Thornton.

What a career, I can't believe it really, no more #30. With that awesome stance, as the camera caught him skating around his crease with shoulders slanted one side almost slightly. Head down, looking intently. Going over the game in his head. Osgood thank you for all the memories. I'm truly a little tearful this day is here. We love you. We will never forget what memories you have given us Red Wings fans. We know you ignored the off-ice nonsense, and bled Detroit red all your career. Thank you Ozzie!!

I never liked ozzy as a player growing up, but after meeting the man 2 years ago i have to say he is about the best person you would ever hope to meet in a unprofessional setting. With that said i have had the last 2 years of watching his story and age unfold infront of my eyes and watch a good man face retirement. Thank you for the years chris and hope you return with some sort of role with the franchise. I actually switched my jersey # from 29 which i have had since i was 7years old to #30 this season:)

The Red Wings are gonna fall. It just depends on what your definition of fall is. Mine is 6th place in the west and a decent shot to win it all in the playoffs. By no means are they the perennial favorites they once were but they are still the Red Wings. Now, when they move to the East it might be a different story. Can't wait for Pulkkinen

Not signing up to be an "ESPN Insider" doesn't necessarily imply that I'm a bad person, does it?

You really haven't followed him have you? Hes actually plays in the dirty areas pretty well, his skating isn't as bad as most people say it is (think Zetterberg), hes a winger, so speed isn't as important as many people think is, he has really good playmaking abilities and has both a massive slapshot (both heavy and accurate) and a pretty underrated wrist shot. Very few people think he will be a 2nd liner, hes a boom or bust player, and most analysts would agree with his skill set he could very well be a 40 goal scorer. To prove this he was 5th in one of the top leagues in the world outside of the NHL (a lot of people would rank the Finnish League 2nd or 3rd and stylistically the closest to the NHL of any of the European Leagues). And my final point is he broke a few of Selanne's rookie records while being a full 2 1/2 years younger at the time.

    Chris Osgood announces retirement

Kind of sucks, because his last two seasons were really sub-par, mostly due to confidence, lack of playing time, and finally injury. I never felt he was declining quality-wise, only that he hit a rough patch. I never really felt that he just couldn't hack it anymore. Sad to see another player retiring basically due to injury. Who knows, maybe with proper conditioning and a couple years off treating the groin area right he might pull a Hasek and come back for one more run at glory. EDIT: And I think one of the greatest legacies he leaves is not his success on the ice, but that with all the drama constantly swirling around the goaltending situation he never caused problems, and always wanted to come back to the Wings and stay with them no matter what. A true team player. I've never seen a player take so much crap and still so earnestly want to stay in the city that treated him in such a bipolar manner.

i am seriously so depresed. i knew it was inevitable and he was bound to retire some day but i guess i thought and hoped he'd sign on for one more year. it's hard knowing that i'll never see my favorite player and the guy ive been a fan of since i was a little kid never play again.

As much as anyone ever was, Chris Osgood is The Consummate Red Wing. Anyone that can remember all the time he put in with this organization, through the highs and lows, especially winning Cups, and especially after being dumped and coming back undeterred and winning another, knows what this guy means to the Winged Wheel. Farewell and bon voyage, old buddy.

I just read that piece of tripe from Puck Daddy...he says Ozzie's career isn't "Hall worthy". Excuse me, but three Cups, a Jennings, and 400 career wins isn't "Hall worthy"???? What planet are you living on???

    Chris Osgood announces retirement

I'm honestly surprised that he's retiring via a conference call -- shocked, really -- even if he is taking up a position within the organization. Perhaps this was Osgood's personal choice as I'm sure a press conference in the Olympia Room and a retirement forthcoming at least a year before the player wants to reach that point is going to be extremely emotional. Thanks for the memories, Ozzie. It was a helluva ride.

    Zherdev and Emery?

What's this about Zherdev and Emery?!

I think the general consensus was less "go boston" and more "f*** vancouver, I hope they burn in hell". We just picked boston because most of us dislike the canucks more than we dislike the bruins.

Holland did not say he's done with the forwards, he said he's looking at defense and not so much at forwards. Thus getting another D man is job one. I think if they were offering Jagr 2.5 then it will go to another forward spot, I also think we will sign someone for this spot late into the summer.
