No he didn't. It was a draw. And for Perry to fight to a draw against Datsyuk is almost as bad as a loss for him. He had an opportunity to lay a beatdown on one of the Wings star players. A guy he had a considerable size advantage over and one who isn't even a fighter. And Perry managed a friggin draw.

I hate to derail this thread but the fact that the lions draft picks almost never pan out should indicate a problem with the lions themselves and not so much the draft picks. It is very possible that Joey Harrington would have realized his potential if he were drafted by say Dallas orgreen bay. At the same time it is very possible that Dats and z wouldn't be NHL players if they were taken by a team like the islanders. I guess that separates the men from the boys in pro sports. Scouting and development, and I'm glad the wings the best personnel in both

Carcillo really isn't a bad 4th liner if he learned to stop all the nonsense and just play hockey. Wings won the central division last year and swept the coyotes without guys "eager" to drop the gloves. And the reason San Jose beat us is because their 3rd and 4th lines out played ours. Not out hit or out fought. Finally perry didn't need retribution. Dats dropped the gloves and stood up for himself. You get retribution on a guy who cheap shots your stars, but you shouldn't need to when your stars are willing to drop the gloves in a fair fight (obv with a guy like perry. Now if Godard enticed Datsyuk all bets are off but usually goons wont do stuff like that. It happens but not too often that you'd need to waste a roster spot on a goon to protect against it)

I don't need to be careful with anything I stated. Stereotypes exist for a reason and there is damn good evidence why Russian players have gotten that reputation. Datsyuk is not a stereotypical Russian player but Kovalev is. Their national team speaks volumes on this subject alone.

Easy guys, give some constructive criticism! Although I do not agree with some of the placement, predictions, or even the reason some players are on the list (JVR) it's still a solid list filled with good research. Nice work putting together a good list of some of the younger talent in the NHL!

Jason Williams scored over 50 points once in his 10 year NHL career. I can't believe I even have to say this, but that does not make him a consistent 50+ point player, no matter what kind of fuzzy math you use. In the real world, playing real hockey, he cracked 50 points in a season one time. And averaging his career output since 2006 down to 82 games makes as little sense as projecting 11 games to 82. It in no way is any indication of the kind of goalscorer he was.

If a north american player is streaky you call him steaky, but if a Russian player is like that you call him lazy and say he has no heart ... this is dumb

Oh no not Daniel Carcillo he's going to be the downfall of the Wings with his superior grit and intensity. I'm all for having rougher role players but some people take it to the extreme.
