Crosby's 2012 Season now in Question
T-Ruff gave a reaction for a post in a topic
it's pretty pathetic that some of you would wish to see one of the best point producers and most talented players in the nhl never step on the ice again just because you're still bitter about a SCF loss a few years ago. all this talk about his "character" make it seem like he's sean avery. get a grip. also, LOL at maltby "not being a ******". talk about homer-goggles at their worst. -

While I am not a Crosby fan I hope he can continue playing because as someone who had migraine headache's when I was little headache's in general stink. -
1 pointMalts was my favorite player, but this post is spot on. If you want to laugh until you cry, you need to hear this post in your head with the right voice. Think James Earl Jones, or the NFL Films narrator. Well done, good sir. Unfortunately, threads like this show why Dipwad Gary is a marketing genius. We all hate Crys-by. I wouldn't piss on him if his hair was on fire. And yet...the punk hasn't seen the ice in 6 months and we still can't stop talking about him.
-
1 pointI think your views of him as a person are pretty skewed and mostly based on what year hear people saying (whether there is anything to back it up or not). I'd challenge you to spend a week following him around everywhere and actually get to know what the guy is all about and then come back and tell me what you think about the guy as a person, his character, etc.

I hope he comes back. There's nothing better than beating your rival when they have no excuses. If Crosby is gone, I'll lose a lot of hate for the Pens. And it can be just as fun to root against a team as it is to root for a team. So hurry back Sid, and may you find yourself running into a KronWall soon. -

Crosby's 2012 Season now in Question
T-Ruff reacted to haroldsnepsts for a post in a topic
Exactly. If it were based on the conduct in every aspect of a players life, there'd be at least a few players that wouldn't have made it in. Certainly not Ciccarelli. And Chelios would never make it in. -
1 pointUnfortunately it's the Hockey Hall of Fame, not the Role Model Hall of Fame. What he does with his hockey skill set will determine whether or not he gets in, not whether he whines or dives.

Crosby's 2012 Season now in Question
T-Ruff reacted to WorkingOvertime for a post in a topic
Can you cite any specific examples of Crosby acting inappropriately? He certainly doesn't have the best character in the league, but he is far from the worst. Also, considering the hype he's lived with for 10+ years, I think he's adjusted relatively well. -
1 pointI have to admit I'm shocked. I watched both hits he received that could have given him the concussion and neither looks anywhere near bad enough to keep him out this long. If he's going to go out, it had better be on a more vicious hit than either one of those. That would just be a pitiful way to derail a career.

I'll be the mean and evil one. I can't deny that Crosby is a great player but I hope he doesn't ever play again. Thank who is gonna be Bettman's little baby boy and the face of the NHL. I'm sorry but I HATE Crosby. I hate the fact that I live in Michigan and whenever I go into a hockey shop or a sports store the only Reebok Hockey Stick has Crosby's name and number on it; like he is the only player in the NHL that uses Rebook equipment and can endorse for Reebok. I know that's Reebok's thing and has nothing to do with Crosby playing but I think back to the 09 Cup Finals and listening to my local sports radio show and all anyone could talk about was Crosby not even the rest of the Penguins squad just Crosby and his tremendous skills. Everytime I think of 09 I get sick, and I feel I always will. It's as if he is the ultimate Hockey God and I just can't stand to hear about it and even if he doesn't play we'll still hear all the NHL talk about him not playing but for me it's better than hearing about him being the NHL's hero and all the other crap they can come up with to make Sidney Crosby into Superman. So I hope he NEVER plays again. -

Karma for all the diving he did/does when he barely gets tapped....now he knows what a real hit feels like! ...besides, he come back and play half the season and they will "give" him another trophy, the Masterson Trophy. Then they will fill the NHL airwaves full of talk about what heart and dedication he has, and how he is the only "true champion" for coming back from his injury. I can see Eddie Olczyk (and Carmen) wiping the jizz off his face already. I have no sympathy for him as a player (as a person I do hope he is ok to live a nice life,) this is what happens when you start believing the hype and think you are bigger than the game...the game stands up at the blueline and knocks you out...Eric Lindros part II... If he comes back, great, but if he is done, I won't lose any sleep over it. They'll trade us Joe Morrow for Jiri Hudler and Jakub Kindl.... (only in my dreams) -

Crosby's 2012 Season now in Question
T-Ruff reacted to Majsheppard for a post in a topic
Crap I just wrote a long response and the kitten hit refresh on the keyboard. So here is the abridged version. Many writers believe class counts for something in getting into a hall of fame. I believe fame should be dependent upon how they hold themselves as a person. He dives, he whines, he acts in a way that if my son did that I would scold him. He does things that non-marquee players would be called cheaters for... It isn't all on him, it is the superstar culture but he does act poorly, especially for a hockey player. Do I think that will keep him out? No. It might if he retires now. Also he really hasn't the numbers to get in, the reverse Osgood argument. I put it this way. Hypothetically, if he plays 10 more years and because of his concussion he has balance issues that lead to him never getting more than 30 pts again. Would he get in the hall with 16 years and about 900 pts? I don't think he does. Based on that rational, I don't think he gets in if he were to retire now. His entire career, albeit impressive, is not complete therefore you wouldn't bestow that lock upon him. That is all I was saying about your statement about him being a lock no matter what happens. I think it premature. Honestly, I will use every argument used against Osgood and others because I only think it fair to be consistent. I might be wrong about him being a lock, but that is my viewpoint. I am however quite confident that beyond skill, there is nothing impressive about Crosby as a human being and I dislike his attitude. That should count for something when there are people looking up to him. -

T-Ruff reacted to hillbillywingsfan for a post in a topic
That's not totally true. Haven't we seen it where even other hockey players were saying he whines a lot and we have seen the diving first hand. those are people that do know him fairly well so i would say Majsheppard has a fairly close assessment of him from everything from what fans have seen and players alike. Although I do feel he was thrown into it a little too fast being the so called "face" of the nhl and all before any nhl games were played. I is hard on a young kid sometimes to be thrown into something like that too early. -

T-Ruff reacted to Electrophile for a post in a topic
The thing is, if Crosby was a Red Wing, he wouldn't have the personality/attitude issues that he does, the team wouldn't stand for it. So that analogy doesn't really work. For it to work, you'd have to assume that Crosby the Red Wing would be the same whiny, petulant brat as Crosby the Penguin.....and we know that ain't true. So yeah, if Crosby was a Red Wing, everyone here would love him. Not only would he still have the talent, but he wouldn't be an insufferable jackass. *looks in corner* *sees two-year-old basset hound sleeping* *wonders what he does when the rest of us are sleeping*
