Abby needs to play with some edge. He is at his best when he's being a pain in the ass. Maybe needs to go for lunch with Maltby and learn some tricks.

If he never returns to the NHL, I have to wonder what he would've accomplished in the next 10 to 15 years of his career. .

In the past 6 games Abdelkader has been averaging only about 10 minutes per game. Earlier in the year he got up to 17 minutes. In case anyone has forgotten Abby was Detroit's BEST plus/minus leader last year at PLUS 15. IMHO, Detroit's road woes are due primarily to the second line of Filppula, Zetterberg and Hudler.... they are something like MINUS 24 on the road. Opposing teams are smart when they have last change.... they put their checking line against Datsyuk's line and their best scoring line against Z, Fil and Hudler.... NO CONTEST. Last year I remember Abby getting a few games on the top line and the second line and more on the third line. Why not? He is an excellent checker with good speed and willing to go into the corners and wins battles for pucks... unlike, say, someone like Hudler. Although, I do have to say I see Hudler willing to go to the net and that is how he is getting his points... but when it comes to checking a big scorer.... forget it. What good is getting 30 points when you give up 50 points in the process? Yes, Abby has taken some bad penalties this year and has made a few bonehead plays, but what player hasn't (Datsyuk not included..LOL)? If the fourth line is going to get only 7-9 minutes a night anyway why waste Abby on that line? The one problem I know is that Abby has centered and Emmerton is the only other center. So if Mursak is in for Emmerton there is no true center for the fourth line. I know Babcock has put Cleary on the second line for a few games lately on the road but then that messed up the third line... which was doing well before the injuries. Maybe the Wings should trade away Mursak and bring up Nyqvist who is a center. Could have Homer, Nyqvist and Hudler as the fourth line. Abby can be a second line skater and would do well with Zetterberg and Filppula until at least Detroit gets a top 6 forward, hopefully, before the trade deadline.

Amazing to think what's transpired in our Central division these past few weeks and its been fun to watch. While it's hard to imagine the race will keep up at its current pace it stands to reason that 4 of our 5 divisional teams will make the postseason. More mind-boggling is that the top 3 point-getters thus far in the West all belong to the Central. On top of that, 4 of the top 6 point-getters in the West are all from the Central. It's an amazing display of talent, coaching and solid-play by DET, STL, CHI & NSH. So, prediction time. What are your thoughts on how the division will shake out come April? How many of the 4 teams will make the postseason? What are your thoughts regarding the Wings division?

I'm with most people, it sucks that he has to deal with these symptoms every day. I get chronic migraines so I get what some of the problems are. However, if this was any other play or in the NHL, he wouldn't get nearly this much attention. I can't stand Crosby but I will be the 1st to admit that he is good for the NHL. Bottom line is, I don't give a s***. The only time I'll give a s*** is if he comes back and plays the Wings in the SCF. Personally, I think with all this media time that's not going to Crosby, they could focus on a new young player such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who is having a great season as a rookie straight from the draft. There are plenty of stories to follow right now. Get off Crosby and focus on the players that are able to still play the game and provide entertainment to the NHL fan base.

Hes awesome defensively but when hes at center he cant play his crash and bang style. Wings need to trade Emmerton for a real fourth line center and move Abby to wing where he actually scores and hits. A fourth line center would improve the team by improving at center but moving Abdelkader to wing would be ahuge help in the grit department I think

Danny Briere just got a concussion, wonder if we'll see any stories in print about his doctor's appointment? Like a few others have said, who gives a s*** about this guy's doctor visits?

It's tough hearing about what all these guys deal with day to day with concussions. Depression, migraines, light sensitivity, fatigue. Never knowing if tomorrow is going to be a good or bad day. I doubt it'll get much sympathy here but Pronger's wife was talking about what it's like for him. Having the kids ask him when they can go back to the games and watch him play.

It's good to see both the Wings camp and BJs camp come together and recognize it was a fluke injury and that Zata isnt that type of player.

No suspension.... ...they were both slowing and stopping, The guy would've have fallen whether Zetterberg was there or not. The play on Mursak's injury in the pre-season was worse than this and did anyone get suspended? If Shanahan suspends Zetterberg, he should be erased from the Detroit Red Wings history books. His goals and points should be taken away and his name should be removed from the Stanley Cup...it's the ref that should be suspended for making the call. I watched it over and over and over, he just places his hand on his back, there is no push, no shove, no intent, not even a tickle...

I'll bet no suspension.

Zetterberg should not be suspended for this. The guy loses an edge and falls into the boards. Zetterbergs hand was on his back but at no time did his arm straighten in a pushing motion. If Z gets suspended for this Andrew Ferance will get life behind bars.

Zetterberg is guilty. I don't think there was any malicious intent, but you can't be reckless. Even a little push or bump when a guy is in that position isn't acceptable. I think Zetterberg deserves a one game suspension. Two at the very most. I'm glad everyone's OK.
