    Funny Homer article

The hardest fought 1000 games by a player likely in NHL history. The Demolition Man is a true warrior.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/02/red_wings_hope_lure_of_winter.html The Red Wings are turning up the pressure on Lidstrom to return next season, telling him – and anyone who'll listen – that the 41-year-old defenseman shouldn't retire with such a huge event looming, a chance to play the Toronto Maple Leafs before a world-record crowd of 115,000. "I'm hoping this game will convince Nick, and with how our team is playing, to come back for one more year," general manager Ken Holland said. "The possibilities are incredible." The ever-optimistic coach Mike Babcock is convinced Lidstrom will return. "He'll be back. He'll be back," Babcock said. "He's too good to quit and our team's too good. I was concerned this year was going to be his last if our team wasn't good enough. Our team is good enough and he's good enough. "I think there's one more (year) for sure. He's never going to let his skill diminish and he's not interested in playing on a bad team. I know (Tomas) Holmstrom wants to play and he's working on him every day. They're like two kids together." Lidstrom said he'll make his decision after the season. "It (Winter Classic) is only one game, but it's an intriguing one," Lidstrom said. "We'll have to wait and see." For what it's worth, he added, "I think it's going to be an unbelievable feeling to walk through that (Michigan Stadium) tunnel and play a hockey game." Teammates are hopeful. "I think this will be perfect." Niklas Kronwall said. "It really gives him another reason to continue for another year. I think it's pretty good timing." Said Pavel Datsyuk: "He's going to play at least two more years."

I hope they just play a looped video of Homer saying "for sure" in honor of his 1000th tonight. Got to say that I'm more nervous about tonight's game being the streak-ender than Sunday's with the Flyers. Hope the boys don't overlook the Ducks like they've done with teams like the Habs, Islanders, etc. Prove me wrong Wings!

I think people just know that if anyone touches Lids they would be devoured by an angry swarm of red and white.

Why does everything have to go so slow at work on game days? I just want to get off work so I can go home, grab some buds, and watch some Red Wings hockey!

    Jeff Carter

Worse. Three teams in a row. I have to say again...Carter's not the type of player who would play with much grit or heart in the playoffs. Despite his immense talent, he's prone to taking nights off and becoming invisible when the game gets tougher. At least Franzen shows up in the playoffs and doesn't have attitude problems.

    Red Wings Alumni lineup

I have to disagree. I would say if Stevie has any class, which he clearly does, he will steer clear from it. Did anyone realistically think he was going to come back and play for the alumni game? Granted it would be absolutely everything we wanted, but it just doesn't make sense. He is literally the #1 guy in the front office for another organization, he is all business, especially in the middle of the season, why would it be legit for him in his position to do something like that? Believe me, if Stevie is throwing on the Winged Wheel again, I would be the first one to be there, but it just doesn't make any sense, and to me it is a class move by the classiest act this sport has ever seen. That being said, the alumni game and potential roster will not disappoint. Domi and Joey dropping gloves, potential Russian 5 resembled (I am sure they will honor Vladdy in some way); the players who have played for these teams is downright disgusting how deep it could go, I wouldn't want to be the person from each organization who has to choose who plays and who doesn't, because I'm sure almost everyone would love to.

I want a reliable back up goalie. Maybe JMac is the one but I don't have a lot of confidence in him.
