On top of that, the 3rd line at the time with Abdelkader, Miller, and Helm was one of, if not our best line. They were really grinding the opposition defense, providing a lot of garbage and chaos in front of the crease, and even putting the puck in the net at a decent clip (considering its essentially a Grind Line). Ironically, we demoted Franzen to the 3rd line and instead of lighting a fire under him and while providing the checking line with a useful big body, he continued to suck tremendous ass and effectively cooled down that line until Helm's injury. Pretty sad when the most accountability he's seen is being demoted 4 games or so, and still playing so badly that Babcock just gave up on the experiment and put him back on the first line. Its been two seasons straight now in which Babcock disrupts the chemistry throughout his lineup just trying to get Johan Franzen to play like he's capable of. Line 2 has chemistry? Put him there! Line 3 has chemistry? Put him there! Line 1 is starting to come around and score consistently? Great, its fixed; put him there! *sigh*

This is a popular misconception. Joe Sakic beat the Wings in 96, 99, and 2000 and while I didn't like him, it was different. I didn't like him because he beat the Wings, but I respected him and the way he played the game. He let his skill do his talking. He didn't take cheapshots at people when things didn't go his way. The truth is, Wings fans (well at least me anyways), started to dislike Crosby after Game 4 in the 2008 Finals. That was the game of the famous 5-3 kill where Zetterberg stopped Crosby right on the doorstep and killed off the penalty. After the game was over, the Wings are skating back to the locker room and Crosby skates over and gets in Z's face. WTF? He's supposed to be a leader and face of the league and he's trash talking to a guy that just beat him because he's a sore loser. Since then I've opened my eyes and seen him do A LOT of shady things (slew footing, slashing every single time he loses a face off, elbows, sucker punches from behind, etc). Regardless of the outcome of the 2009 Finals, I would still hate his guts today.

Really, I don't understand why you have such a superiority complex. We all get it, you're a better fan than everyone. You deserve all the praise for when the Wings win, because of your fandom. I, for one, like the ranting and raving. It at least has some sliver of truth. Saying "I trust this team" brings nothing to the conversation.

I didnt see the game I just saw the score...but by the look of a lot of the posts here you would think we lost 6-1 or something. All I can say is we are going to play in who we are going to play this post season and not one team out of the choices is "better" then the other. We just must have faith, like I very much do, that our boys will pull together and rock the s*** out of whomever they face...but agian I havnt seen tonites game yet...LGW

LOL the offseason? Pretty sure playoffs haven't started yet. Whole new beast. Never know what happens. I recall several times where the Wings play bad down the last stretch of the regular season and ended up going really far in the playoffs. It's hockey. Anything is possible.

So the Preds just won and are back in 4th by a point over us. Hawks/Wild are in OT. Here's hoping Hawks lose in OT, Preds lose their final game and we win on Saturday. Seems like a hell of a lot to ask for. Ugh.

Franzen has looked like Primeau out there tonight. Great looking play until he blows a tire and falls down. And the refs are definitely gearing up for the playoffs. It's not as bad as pre-lockout but there's an awful lot of hooking going on out there.

He's a great PKer. He could be an unbelievable player if he wasn't so stupid. I heard a story here in Calgary about Olli Jokinen actually hiring a mental coach kinda thing, to help him focus and get more mentally prepared for games and stuff. And while it sounds funny in theory, he's actually been much better this season for the Flames then in any other season. If only the Wings could do something like that for Ericsson, he'd be a top 4 d-man if he didn't make so many mental errors on the ice. And for the record, I like Ericsson, I'd just like to see him punch people in the face more
