    'Twas The Night Before Playoffs

‘Twas The Night Before Playoffs ‘Twas the night before Playoffs and all through the Joe Not a player was skating, not fast and not slow. The jerseys were hung from the rafters with care Stevie, Sid, Gordie, Terry, Ted, and Alex were there. The fans in Detroit were all snug in their beds, While Stanley Cup fever danced ‘round in their heads. Valtteri Filppula, Kyle Quincey, Brad Stuart, you see Would star in their dreams of what would soon be. Next day on the ice there would be such a clatter, That, for true fans of hockey, nothing else would matter. Away to the arena, we fly like a flash, (Unless we can’t get tickets, ‘cause we don’t have the cash). The laser light show on the freshly groomed ice Would light up the way as we welcome our guys! Then, what to our wondering eyes should appear, But the best of the NHL, at least so far this year. With a Captain named Lidstrom, and a forward named ‘Tuzzi We knew in a moment we all could be woozy. More rapid than eagles, the players they came, And we whistled and shouted, and called them by name. “Now Sheahan! Now Kronwall! Now, go, Jiri Hudler! On Datsyuk! On Zetterberg! And, now, Abdelkader! Into the Playoffs! With the best of the League! There’s no turning back! There will be no fatigue!” “There’s Holmstrom!, Chris Conner!, and Ian White! Jan Mursak! Doug Janik! They’ll all show their might! Thanks to Joey MacDonald and Brendan Smith! We got to this point, this team knows no quit!” For now, in a twinkling, no rest for the weary Here’s Franzen! And Helm! And Danny Cleary!! There’s Kindl and Ericsson and Jimmy in net. Drew Miller, Patrick Eaves, the best fourth line yet! They say we’re getting old, we know that’s not true We simply reload and reload, that’s what we do! With Joakim and Gustav and don’t forget Cory Our young guys can bring it, there’ll be no worry! As the Predators and the Sharks and Canucks all cry, When they meet with the Wings, and their Stanley dreams die. As the Penguins do crumble and Florida meets with fate, The Rangers and Capitals will just have to wait. Then, dressed up so nicely, in the best they could find, The coaches line up, with the trainers behind. There’s Blashill, and Bill Peters, and head coach Mike Babcock And, on the bench, Ty Conklin, our faithful back-up Tragedy struck our world in September We lost part of our family, we’ll always remember Stefan Liv, Brad McCrimmon, and Rusty Salai Our hearts were broken, we grieve to this day. Ken Daniels makes the calls, he’s in no hurry And between the benches, who else but Larry Murphy! Our eyes, how they twinkle! Our hearts are so merry! With Redmond to comment, or maybe Don Cherry. With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Mike soon had assured us we had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word; these guys know how to win To the Finals we go, we can do this again. They spring to the ice, as the referees whistle, In pursuit of the Cup they will fly like a missile. And the fans will exclaim, whether they lose or they win, “Go, Red Wings! We Love You! What a great year it’s been!” GO WINGS!!!

Sucks to be the Blue Jackets. Oilers definitely building the same way Pittsburgh did, and its a bit irritating to watch. Play s***ty enough for 3 years, and you'll be a contender in 5 years (unless you have equally s***ty lottery luck ). I don't know what the alternative is, but kind of silly to think that the worst teams in the league - which ironically are there in the first place due to poor drafting and development - will always have a brighter future than bubble teams who compete and tread water. Could the lottery be expanded, with similar scaling of odds, to include teams finishing 30-20 in points? That way, at least a bubble team that had a good showing, like Colorado or Winnipeg, can have a slim shot at obtaining a franchise-changing player that could propel them from mediocrity to contention in a single year, instead of allowing a team like Pittsburgh or Edmonton to go belly up for a half-decade, stockpile high picks, and be granted the 180 degree turnaround by default.

You shouldn't be able to pick #1 2 years in a row or more. I think it's BS that teams get good from consecutive number 1 overall picks (see the penguins).

Lebda's mom might until she realizes that he plays for the other irrelevant team in the Central. Sorry PredsFanintheBayouState. I have a nasty sense of humour. Nothing personal against you.

Predators announce pro shop deal; will donate surrendered jerseys to charity… The Nashville Predators go "all-in" again. This time at the Predators Pro Shop inside Bridgestone Arena. When Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Chris Parker went on 102.5 The Game's First Quarter show Tuesday morning, he unveiled an exciting marketing plan in an effort to further their "Keep the Red Out" campaign. "We want to start motivating people to go gold," Parker said. "We know there are a lot of Red Wings fans who have migrated to the area. We want to convert those people. Starting today, if you're a Red Wings fan and you're ready to really commit to the Predators… we will give you 50% off a Predators jersey if you exchange your Red Wings jersey." The Pro Shop should see a fair spike in sales due to this promotion but, even more so, the Nashville organization should see a tremendous spike in PR value. Why? Because of what Parker unveiled next. "We're going to take those jersey's that we collect," Parker explained, "we're going to clean them, dry clean them, wash them and we're going to send them back to Detroit to a worthy charity." The good news for regular Predators fans is that you're not left out of the promotion. You can buy a home gold Predators jersey for 20% off the regular price.

That's pretty fantastic, no pun intended. Of course I'd question anyone who took advantage of this promotion, but I still think it's a great idea. Despite the fact that I hope we freaking destroy you in the playoffs, I have to give a continued hat off to the Preds organization. You guys do more with less than anyone else in the NHL. Unless you're playing the red and white, I'm rooting for you.

This guy should be out on IR 30 games ago to get fixed! Cleary is completely ineffective while playing on one leg, and hes gonna get steamrolled in his condition in the playoffs, despite his never say die attitude. He aint no Stevie Y!

Last year it predicted the finals correctly, however it had the Canucks winning it all. I agree with all of the winners except maybe Pitt over Boston in the 2nd round.

He shouldn't be playing. Some guys can play at 50% and still help the team. As we've seen all season, Cleary at 50% is not helping the team at all. In fact, he's hurting the team and is rather easy to play against right now. He needs to sit.
