Calle Jarnkrok. Currently ranked as our 5th best prospect by Hockey's Future (behind Smith, Nyquist, Tatar and Jurco). Born in '91, so 21, and old enough to be considered at this point. He's spent the last two complete seasons in the Swedish Elite League, which is at least somewhat comprable to AHL-level hockey. He's said to be a great play-making center, with outstanding speed (aka defensive ability). And, most impressively, IMO, he was chosen for the Swedish WC team over Gustav Nyquist...who we all know deserves to be on the team next season. What are the chances this guy comes over and becomes our third line center next season (moving Helm to a more appropriate fourth line role)? And while we're at it, what about Tomas Tatar, who will be playing with Marian Hossa and many other high profile NHL-ers on Slovakia's WC team? I smell a (potential) great third scoring line in Nyquist-Jarnkrok-Tatar as early as next season.

Since LGW is likely to be pretty slow until the end of June, I figured I'd throw together a little idea I had for what I thought our WC jerseys could look like. A couple pieces of history here and there (inverted logo, Detroit Cougars "D" on the shoulder), as well as a little deeper red trim for a vintage-ish look. Anyway, let me know what you think. I have the PSD file, so I can edit it as much as I want, so suggestions are welcome and I'd be willing to attempt any other mock-ups anyone might like to see (within my abilities).

I'm sorry, teams taking money from the revenue sharing fund should be forced to say how much they receive. Other teams fans should know they are subsidizing other franchises and for how much. Reading the article is sure seems like the Preds get a LOT of money from everyone (NHL money, state money, local money) yet refuse to disclose how much they get. I mean why should the Wings have to help subsidize Nashville over a salary like Suter's when we'd ultimately like to sign him here? In essence the Wings are being forced to act against their best interests. *The Predators acknowledged that they benefit from revenue sharing but would not disclose how much. *The Predators would not disclose what percentage of the remaining $45 million was from operating losses. *Cogen would not disclose the number of sponsors or how much revenue they generate. But yet they take and take and take and a lot of people in and around Nashville don't see this as sustainable for much longer and next time they want money they WILL make them open their books it sure sounds like. Bad for the NHL. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120429/NEWS01/304290057/Profit-eludes-Nashville-Predators?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

    Is Rinne Getting Exposed?

Nashville looks flat and tired..almost seems like they treated us as their Stanley Cup.

Left calf. Needs a little final work after it initially heals, but I'm happy with it. 6 hours on the table = NOT FUN!

Obama Oh, wait wrong forum Pittsburgh, Chicago, San Jose, and Nashville in that order. Although Nashville seems to think that they are already "Stanley Cup Champions".

During the first round I had a discussion with a coworker about Rinne. He said he thought Rinne we owning us (he's a blackhawks fan, fyi) . When I watched the series i saw a whole lot of perimeter shots, and was continuously screaming at the TV for Zetterberg to quit sending his stupid weak backhand harmlessly at the net, time after time. My overall opinion of that series was a lot like the 2006 series with the Oilers. Tons of perimeter shots that made the opposition's goalie look like a superstar. Anyway, fast forward to today, and we see the Phoneix ******* Coyotes put up 4-5 goals on him with similar shot totals. I am of the opinion that we clearly didnt test Rinne in our series, and the dogs are getting the best if him and exposing him.

I really hope it's correct. I really don't want to see the Wings become black listed by prospects in the draft not wanting to sign with the Wings cause their NHL career won't be starting for 4-6 years. Not exactly the NHL dream... I'd much rather see a 3rd line with Tatar-Jarnkrok-Nyquist than Cleary-Abdelkader-Bertuzzi. Anyone have anything against multiple rookies in the lineup that are NHL ready, take a good look at the Flyers, they're still playing hockey while the Wings players are getting surgery, golfing and looking at walkers. It's time to get younger and there's lots of good prospects in the system. Sheahan looked good aside from his double minor for high-sticking and Pulkkinen is a good player with a good shot as well. Joakim Andersson has good hustle and is big, so for all the people who want Gaustad, take a younger version for way less money. As for Jarnkrok, I heard before that he's supposed to have a Z like play style. Being right handed also helps... Doubtful that there's a spot cause Holland hasn't even cut ties with Homer yet, so I'm gonna shelf my hope for a year and then look back next offseason at a time where he should definitely make the team or the Wings organization doesn't deserve him.

    Is Rinne Getting Exposed?

didn't they lose last year to Vancouver in 4 games as well after beating us? We can call it "detroit syndrome"

Not to derail the thread, but the over-ripen strategy is something that I believe we will begin to see less of as the seasons go on. The main reason we had the luxury of leaving prospects in the minors for so long was because we could go out and have our pick of the litter free agent wise. Although we have a lot of money this summer, once the new CBA goes into effect (knock on wood), I do not see how we can continue to prolong the strategy of waiting until 24/25 years of age for our prospects to finally have more than a cup of coffee in the show. Anyone else thinking this could be correct? Opinions to the contrary welcomed, as always. Just sort of thinking aloud.

    Is Rinne Getting Exposed?

I think the Yotes have been underestimated as well. Just like we see all season, the bottom feeders show up for games against the Wings and the Wings underestimate their opponent. Nashville got cocky because they beat the big bad Detroit Red Wings, now they're getting showed up by the desert dogs. I'm loving every minute of it.

I think we are getting exposed more than Nashville at this point.

No roOm for him now that bert is reupped and nyquist emerging. We get a guy like parise or semin and our top 6 is full.

So far, Rinne's goaltending makes Nashville look like Pittsburgh South. Where did they get all the "fans" in Glendale?
  18. 1 point
Yeah, i too was lost when you said he wins most of his battles

I think when talking about hudler having grit, the effort is there but in all honesty he doesnt win most of his battles. I dont want semin either, but i think there hs to be someone better than hudler out there to fix this team's lack of grit.

Well since this is the realist thread, I'll be realer than real and say that hypothetically we don't make any moves for anyone. If so our team could look like this... Bert-Pav-Franzen Flip-Z-Nyquist Cleary-Helm-Eaves/Miller Mursak-Abby-Eaves/Miller Lids-White Kronwall-Quincey Ericsson-Kindl/Smith Kindl/Smith While I don't know if it would win the cup or not I think it looks better than the team we fielded during the playoffs this year. Any thoughts?

I Guarantee we are not getting either parise or sutter.

    25 Games for Torres

Well deserved, but also an easy target to throw the book at and say, "See! We've got this thing under control!" Already a multiple-time offender, bottom line scrub, he had no chance (not that he especially deserves one).

    23 game home win streak

Losing in the first round sucked, but it wouldn't have been a much more memorable run if they'd lost in the second or third round either, which is more likely to happen than winning the Cup even when you've got a really good team. Meanwhile, the winning streak is probably something that will stand for quite a while, and I had a lot of fun watching. I know "the Cup is the only thing that matters etc," but it's not even remotely feasible to win it every year or anywhere close to that. Enjoy what you can while you can folks.
