CHL moving to ban European goalies

So because European tenders are selected instead of Canadian ones they are making a rule basically forcing teams to pick Canadian ones even though they might not be as good or as qualified as the European tenders? Smells like Affirmative Action and Diversity laws here in the states. Two thumbs down CHL. esteef

OMG waahh waaaah waaah CHL. Here's your tissue. If you want to develop your goalies, start developing them younger then.

Chicago media and the Chicago fans are morons. Chicago was the undisputed number one in the league this season by a country mile, killed everyone in the regular season, and was predicted to trounce everyone and take the cup easily with no questions asked.... And yet every round they try to claim they are the poor widdle underdogs. Its just getting ridiculous at this point.

Steve Yzerman is a level headed individual and he should be the NHL commissioner. Maybe then the NHL and hockey in general will be in the spotlight for positive reasons.

CHL moving to ban European goalies

No better way to develop young players than to force them to play against substandard goalies. Hurray for the CHL, now young canadian forwards can get used to scoring on the likes of Malcolm Subban and never know what it's like to play against a real goalie until they hit the AHL.

It's actually much worse than affirmative action cause at least that is put in place to help struggling people make money to help them live. This is a sport that is fully based on who is more skilled, and the most skilled get to play. This rule is disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves. Beyond ridiculous

Boston fan from North Boston called up Chicago station today after they had a Boston radio guy on. Was hilarious. He basically was calling out Chicago radio guys for trying to trump up the story that the Hawks were the Cinderella team. Boston definitely plays better as underdog so its in their interest not to let Chicago try to take that, but from every other logical metric, no way Chicago could try to play the victim/under appreciated/underdog when they have been arrogant d-bags all year with their silly streak (asterisk) and best record.

Go Bruins. They've got a great blend of finesse and snarl, as they have for several years, now. The team is full of guys that go the extra mile to fearlessly block shots, etc. We probably won't see Andrew Shaw and Bryan Bickell running around like they did against us. Hopefully Boston can shut down Chicago's top guys, just like they did to Pittsburgh.

I so can't wait to see Bickel trying to be a bully against Thornton might not end pretty for him...

A Day in the Life of Jakub Kindl

These videos were posted some time ago, and they were filmed during the lockout, but nevertheless I found them interesting; it's always find it intriguing to see the daily life of a professional athlete, especially such a quiet guy as Kindl.

CHL moving to ban European goalies

I hope saner minds prevail and that they reverse this decision before it is actually put into effect. That is embarrasing.

We all should be. As any job in the world, the most qualified person should get the job, and it is not so in any workplace. And now the CHL? Guess we got Mrazek just in time.

Someone who already has already recognized this situation, offering a more diplomatic observation; from Toronto Star:

I still believe that what this team needs is a goal scorer. Getting bigger and meaner is all fine and dandy, but their biggest issue was putting the puck in the net. Ryder, Horton or Iginla would be fine with me. I still feel like Clarkson might be a bit fluky. He was prone to dry spells during the year, and is really a net-front presence that complimented Kovalchuk, imo.

im not sure why others perceive the national anthem as disrespectful in chicago, i think it is one of the coolest things in sports. I like in chicago so ive been to my fair share of the games and the emotion you get from it great. also it was definitely started in response to desert storm, not sure about the year. I think that the series will be really tight but that the bruins pull it out because they can play that tight hard fought game better than the hawks.

So you're saying that the 3 mil rule will expire when the offseason officially starts on July 5th?

I did read the post and he said that these are high end realistic raises...they are not. If he would have just said high-end salaries, he wouldn't have gotten any negative feedback, at least not from me, but his entire post, while an informative and nice read, was based on his notion that the cap may be worse for us than once thought, and he based that on unrealistic raises for our UFA/RFA's... anyhow, I did not know about the sub-$3M buyout rule, that is unfortunate, that means we are stuck with Bertuzzi taking up a valuable roster spot. I am not worried about his cap hit, it's the roster spot I covet. Why I certainly hope Sammy gets the buyout, nobody else seems to be a candidate for the buyout. I can't see Holland using one on a defender, there isn't really anyone who is that ready to step in and take that spot unless he plans on acquiring someone via trade as a top 2 guy...anything can happen, but I if he were to want to get rid of Big E or Q, they would be very tradable assets, at least for a nice draft pick... So if a buyout is used, I guess we will be looking at Sammy in order to open a roster spot up. Let Fil and Cleary walk then go with the kids... ...and in all honesty, if Fil walks, I am betting he becomes a Duck. Especially if Selanne signs one more season. Just a hunch.

    Post Everytime You Look

Part of the story I heard about the "Hong Kong Duck" was that it was deflated for shipping in the darkness of night, so as to minimize the "trauma" of it going away.

    Ilya Kovalchuk, would you....

;-) The what if threads are making me laugh! Hossa, Malkin, Kovalchuk... These guys are Hall of Famers. Why would a team dump these kind of guys? Do you think the Pens board has a thread that says "what if Zetterberg is bought out?! If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle!

Cap might be worse than expected.

but you said high end realistic cap numbers....there is nothing realistic about Nyquist getting $3M....high end realistic for Nyquist is $2M. None of those numbers are realistic high end or not... High end none of them top $2M, Brunner MIGHT get $3M.... not very realistic, but you didn't have to take your ball and go home...geez, man up.

Malkin will get an extension somewhere under Crosby's $8.7 million. They'll sign Letang as well, under those two, keep Neal and everyone else will become expendable.

So, what I learned in last series was their whole disrespect the national anthem s*** isn't as long in tradition as I was led to believe. I think TV announcers said it didn't start until early 90s for Desert Storm, although wiki says: Either way, its not like 50 or 100 year tradition. In my opinion, its disrespectful as hell.

Will be fum to see if the bruins bias switches next year. I dont think it will. I think we all really just hate Edzo, NBC, Bettman, and the Engineered NHL we have to watch now.

    All aboard the Bruins bandwagon!
