Floria with the WTF moment of the draft. That's right, Floria. Because there's still no D in Florida.

    2013 NHL Entry Draft Discussion

Ok, so I am SOOOOO excited about this day! (as always) I just hope Holland picks one of the guys we have all been talking about in that 1st round! If Holland selects Haag in the 1st round I will personally fly to the Draft and kick Holland in the Balls... Concerning the Bobby Ryan rumors, I would hate to not have Tatar with us, but I would LOVE Ryan in Detroit! Could you imagine if Holland was able to acquire Bobby Ryan and was able to sign Lacavalier? Now that would be a huge increase in our offense production! And it keeps Franzen in the mix, for all you Franzen lovers...with Ryan and Lecavelier on our team, I wouldn't even mind that Franzen stayed. Ok, ok I know this a draft thread and not a trade thread, but this could happen at the draft. I am so excited! I just hope I do not get my hopes up too much (as I always do, right? ) and get the wind kicked out of me when that pick comes up... Anyhow, Go Wings! Go Holland! Get Ryan and Lecavalier here! So long Filppula!

Good riddance. I wish they'd get rid of the whole Fox Sports Girls promotion all together.

It's overpayment right now. And he's now signed until he's 30 so the big question is if he's still improving or if he's peaked. Offensively he made big improvements this season. He looked more and more comfortable on the PP and is among if not the best on the team at getting his shot through. It might not always be a cannon but he can get it through to the net, which this team has had a hard time with since Nick and Rafalski retired. Defensively he still plays with the consistency of a #7 guy though. If he improves that, this'll be a good deal. If he doesn't, the Wings will be wishing they packaged him in a trade.

Didn't see that any one had started a thread so I thought I'd do it.

In terms of Sunday's draft and the Wings' picks, it appears that the Wings are quite happy with the 18th pick in the 1st round (they will pick 48th and then 79th, 109th, 139th, 169th and 199th), and, somewhat surprisingly, Wings director of amateur scouting Joe McDonnell suggested that the Wings will probably draft a forward as opposed to Ye Olde Beste Player Available while speaking with the Windsor Star's Bob Duff... “We’d really like to get a forward, unless there’s a defenceman that’s too good to pass up,” Wings head scout Joe McDonnell said of the team’s likely plan when they make their first-round pick at No. 18 overall in Sunday’s draft at New Jersey’s Prudential Center. “When it comes to our pick, if we feel there’s two players that are even we’ll lean toward the forward. We have a lot of good, young defencemen – (Ryan) Sproul, (Xavier) Ouellett, (Brian) Lashoff, (Mattias) Backman. We think we have a number of good ones. If we can add a little size up front, it would be beneficial.” ... Getting bigger up front is an ongoing process for the Wings and it will continue on draft day. “It’s just the way the game has evolved,” McDonnell said. “It’s a big man’s game. I’m not saying there’s no room for smaller guys, but if you can get a big, skilled guy, you go that route. We’ll still take small guys if we have to, but we’re looking to get bigger. We have bigger guys coming up in (forwards Tomas) Jurco and (Riley) Sheahan.” The Wings will go earlier on draft day than they have in many years. It’s the quickest they will be called to the podium in the first round since 1991, when they also selected a big forward, Martin Lapointe. “We’re excited,” McDonnell said. “At 18, we know we’ll get someone we really like. The draft in general is strong, in the first round and even into the second round. It’s deep at the top end of the draft and then it peters out. There will be guys we like even in the seventh round, but the high-end part of the draft is good. At 18, we’ll get a quality player.” This is a good thing!

Anyone going high in the draft goes to a horrible team. That's how the draft works.

Good thinking. I'm really excited for this draft. Super deep draft. We have the lowest pick I've ever personally seen us have. There should be a flurry of trade activity today. Things I'm looking for... -Flames GM Jay Feaster will do something dumb AND make at least one draft decision that makes people wonder why he's still an NHL GM -Columbus trades one of thier 3 first round picks -Colorado takes MacKinnon, Patrick Roy says something stupid at one point or another -Florida takes Jones, Tallon personally thanks Colorado -At least one team trades to get into the top 10 -Leafs do something dumb (this is partially a wish) -Columbus has its best draft ever

I somewhat disagree with pretty much everyone. IF IF IF IF......Big E could fetch us a scorer the way Goligowski fetched Pittsburgh James Neal, then I would definitely consider it. It all depends on what we get in return.

Typical Holland faith contract. Generally the players who get them pan out quite nicely. Anyway, Kindl was easily the team's most improved player this season, and he has the rare gift of being able to consistently get shots on net through a crowd. Good contract.
