I think so, went back and watched the fight, he landed really hard on his left shoulder with Acton landing on top of him. After he got up he reached for his shoulder with his right hand. That sucks, I never wish injury on anyone unless their names contain Claude Lemieux or Matt Cooke.

Im partial to the "Holy Jumpin, Lookout, and Datsyuk's got his black mask on out there tonight." Aswell as when he refers to us the viewers as "gang". Ive always wanted to be a part of a gang, and Mick is kind enough to do that for me.

I know its been a really long time since the Wings had a high end defensive prospect come up, but, very rarely do D-men start off being worth much... I believe Smith has to be considered a work in progress for at least another season before you can think he's worthless.

I know people here will disagree with me, but if I played for the Caps, I would have done what McSorley did to Brashear, and used Emery's head for a baseball. Can't just stand around and watch your teammate get mugged.

I'm hoping Almqvist magically becomes that elite Rafalski-esqe puck-moving defenseman we so badly need. And that he becomes that guy in the span of one game.

Fil actually scored the goal to put the Wings up 2-1. Z scored to put them up 3-1 before they scored that late one. Fil's goal was for all intense and purpose, the winner. Fil was highly under appreciated on here. One of the better playoff performers for us as well. But thats not surprising, this is the same fan base and website that was rdy to give up on Kronwall, Ericsson, Howard at times, now it's Smith.... Whos' next? EDIT: Almost forgot Rafalski

He's just very inexperienced. It's actually a lot harder than it looks to talk that much in a concise, coherent way. He'll get better.

I would have rather seen ouellet up over almquist... ouellet has a better defensive game.

It sucks that Smith is out (his struggles aside), but I'm very excited to see AA finally get a shot to play. I remember back when he was leading scorer for all F/D as a defenseman in J20. Hopefully he gets used on the PP as well, see how well his QB vision really is.

Mantha currently leads all QMJHL scorers with a whopping 43 points in 17 games. His nearest competition has 31 points in 19 games. For reference, #1 overall pick Nathan MacKinnon had 75 points in 44 games last season in the Q, and #3 Drouin had 103 points in 50 games. Mantha is on pace for 126 points if he plays 50 games.

I like him but he does speak a bit quietly and sometimes goes on for too long instead of making quick points and letting Ken get back to it.

This contract is subject to the Slide Rule, where it will not officially start until Mantha plays* (see below) for Detroit or Grand Rapids (or any other pro team)... so if he stays in the Q all year, the three years of his deal will be 14/15, 15/16, and 16/17. It will not count against the 50-man limit this year as long as he is not called up. Mantha can stay in the Q with a pro contract. This happens all the time. Frk and Nedomlel were signed last year but stayed in junior. This situation is precisely why players lose NCAA eligibility if they play in the CHL. The NCAA isn't so much concerned with the (small) pay the CHLers receive, but with the fact that amateur players are playing against players already signed to pro contracts. *The Wings could call up Mantha and have him play up to 9 games, then send him back to junior and not have his contract officially start. Recently, the Jets did this with Mark Scheifele. The Flames are contemplating keeping Sean Monahan or returning him to junior. The last Wing I can remember who was in that situation was Martin Lapointe.
