There is no reason for Abdelkader on the 2nd line when Tatar is out scoring him with less games. But, I did always imagine Babcock as a child spending hours trying to jam a square peg into a round hole.

Hey guys Im from glasgow in Scotland and looking to take on the Redwings as my NHL team...Ive watched NHL for years, but my sport is football, or soccer for you folks...My team is Celtic but I was looking for a team with a deep history in NHL...something I can relate too...Can some of you point me in the right direction of players, history, etc as from what Ive been told it sounds like the Wings are the team for me Thanks for any help in advance Cheers guys Stevie

A lot of folks are still using conference standings as a way to gauge performance, unfortunately with the redesign of the divisions and playoff wild card criteria conference standings are now completely meaningless. Remember it is first 3 teams per division that make it plus 2 wild cards. Although the Wings are 5th in the conference, we are actually in 7th place because of the wild card. The Rangers are 5 points behind us with a game in hand... The only website that is doing a real good job of showing the wild card standings is NHL.com, : http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20132014&type=WC Just wanted to bring this to everyones attention if you were not already aware of this.

Patrick Eaves has been fantastic since he has been called up. I think it is a joke that he is now scratched so that Cleary can continue to suck.

Absolutely brilliant and exactly what I was looking for ...thanks very much...my mind is pretty made up on the Red Wings to be fair as it seems it has as much history in the NHL as my team does in football...soccer will always be my first love but american sports have always interested me and ive been a big follower of the NBA all my life (im 32 now) just recently picked up on the NFL and NHL but my cousin playes Ice Hockey here in Scotland and ive seen some of his games and its awesome...but yeah Red Wings rule as far as I can see so far...thanks for the history stuff...im in work at the minute and will read up on this later in my shift (dont finish till 1am) Thanks again

Greetings from the United States, and welcome to the site! It really all depends on how far back you want to go, as an original 6 NHL team the Red Wings history is rich and deep, a good place to begin would be researching and learning about the legacy of Gordie Howe, one of the all time greatest players to ever grace the NHL and wear a Wings sweater. If you aren't looking to go that far back, the early 90's would be a good place to begin, when this team finally saw a turn around when Nicklas Lidstrom, Steve Yzerman, and Sergei Fedorov became part of this franchise and began creating legendary milestones. You also have the vicious rivalry sparked by the Kris Draper incident between Detroit and Colorado, and how that all escalated and made itself an important part of Red WIngs history. There is a really good dvd box set titled The Detroit Red WIngs: A Celebration Of Champions that has a ton of great information, classic games, important events, and their more recent championship games. It's a wonderful place to begin as a new Red Wings fan (I'm confident you'll become one of us... one of us... one of us) and start submersing yourself in everything that makes Hockeytown great. That is indeed a partial roster. On first glance, it's missing Robitaille and probably some others also. I wish Hull would play, but the guy has never been hot on competing at anything less than his best. And, needless to say, his best came and went years ago. It could happen. Some of those guys did play for both teams. I'm just surprised that they aren't being featured on the Leafs side as well. After looking at the Leafs roster, I am surprised that they have so few people. Of course, if the second game is Cup winners, the Leafs might be unwrapping the mummies as we speak. (Oh, that was mean.)

Sadly, Tootoo is becoming a misfit... only getting 5-6 mins a game (half of the next lowest guy). It is sad. He has so much energy.

he wont be a buyout candidate , he could however be part of a trade deal at the end of the year if he dosent improvev when he returns.

So far Weiss = Modano. Great players for there older teams but just not fitting in. lets hope her turns it around. We only have him for 4 more years.

I think the only way you'll get the heavier jersey is if you get the game worn ones. My guess is it's too expensive to mass produce jerseys to the quality that the players have. I do miss those days of the good CCM heavier weight jerseys (compared to the ones now)

They need to show more interaction with women when these players are on the road. Hockey groupies. Like in Slapshot. We're not that naive to believe these guys sit in their hotel rooms and read the Bible all night.

I despise Walmart, I don't shop there, and it pisses me off when people tell me "It's cheaper at Walmart". No one considers the tens of thousands of businesses and jobs they crushed when they save nine cents on a can of baked beans. To further Euro_Twins statement, I like Zachary Quinto a lot as Spock and think the modern movies (Into Darkness as well) are the best variants of the Star Trek films. I thought Waterworld was also an excellent movie. From now on anyone's "unpopular opinion" that I agree with is getting a like from me. This thread is fun.
