The only way I'm stomaching Tatar being moved is if it's in a package deal for a legit top 2 defenseman. Besides, considering how other trades have gone down, and what Green has brought to the table recently compared to what Tatar has brought, I don't even think Green for Tatar straight up is worth it.

I think the helmet one is dumb. If you're in your own end on a pk defending and someone checks you, knocks the helmet off, somehow you deserve a penalty because you don't want to leave your team even more shorthanded to go put the helmet back on or go back to the bench?

It came off as maybe more blunt than intended because I didn't elaborate, but my point stands that you are making all this conjecture about things we have no real idea about. I have no idea and neither do you. He may not have realized how much he liked playing on the Wings until he was confronted with the reality of playing on another team. Who knows. Holland has said (who you're using as a source so let's say he's reliable) that Cleary had multiple offers from other teams. http://www.theoaklandpress.com/sports/20140710/red-wings-sign-cleary-for-another-year I never said it doesn't. As you point out, Holland said it does. Probably. who knows. But you're stating it as fact and it's speculation on your part. I don't need to tell you any of that. If you read any of my posts in this thread, I'm not in favor of bringing Cleary back. I just pointed out that you're hating him for invented reasons. That he only came back because no one else wanted him. That he thinks he deserves special treatment. That his agent keeps bringing up this handshake deal. Nothing you've quoted confirms any of that. It's all just your speculation, which you admit. Which means it is not factual, it is made up based on your opinion.

    Red Wings Target Mike Green

I'm having trouble understanding why the universal thought is that the price for Mike Green is generally pretty high. If they are indeed asking for what others have suggested.... Why does Washington think they can reel in a high end, young, NHL-ready talent, a top prospect, and a high round pick for a guy who's value has dipped GREATLY, has one year left on his contract, and, from the structure of their team, is expendable? When Spezzas and Keslers are being traded for the returns they got, that seems highly unreasonable even considering different positions are being compared as well as the manufactured value of a right handed d-man.

Which is why it's better that it's in the AHL before it would come to the NHL. Let them work out the bugs so the NHL officials can f*** it up in new and interesting ways.

If it was a rule in the nhl the refs would be given no discretion. The fact that you have to securely do the chin strap back up when you put the helmet back on is the worst part, this rule could seriously handicap a team at the wrong time

Dumb people running an awesome sport.

The organization has gotta love this kid. Skilled. Hardworking. And a showman on top of that! He's my favorite of the kids at the moment. IMO he has the highest ceiling as well

I think the older YouTube vids had some more impressive moves than this; not to say this particular feat doesn't require skill or anything. I don't have a problem with him working on this stuff. We all need to follow our passions, and clearly Jurco has an affinity to practice these hand-eye coordination tricks. Besides, he outperformed my greatest expectations of him last season so I think he's earned the right to spend his time after (or before) practice doing what he wants.

Don't worry Kenny's got a firm grip on the wheel.

Ken Holland can do one better. He can make Jurco disappear.... to Grand Rapids.

So it's true. He listens to the expert opinions of the staff he pays for this sort of thing. What an idiot.

Future my ass! He would have got 20 if he wasn't a healthy scratch the first 7 games!!! Just adding to your point btw, not attacking Z brings it every shift, but you do have a point, Tatar is a ball of energy. I'd lose my s*** if Helm got traded as well.

Filppula was offered roughly the same contract he signed with tampa but for 7 years, he turned it down, went to free agency, circled back to the wings but they had already used up their cap space. Hossa was offered the same contract they gave Franzen, he turned it down so they went with plan b and signed Franzen.

If tatar gets traded im done... ESPECIALLY for Mike green Him and helm are the only guys who bring it every shift... I seriously think Tatar has the most heart in the league. Hell, hes the only guy on our whole team with any sort of character.

I rooted for the Germans last world cup (after USA was knocked out early too of course) and I'm really hoping they win it this time.

No he hasn't. When commenting on his contract earlier this summer he said... "On Friday we'll begin negotiating a contract. It's tough to talk about it. Detroit's my priority. I'd say that it's 90% that I'll stay there, only if a fantastic offer came from another team, that Detroit didn't want to match. Everything depends on negotiations. I can't go below the price that a similar player in the league will have earned. But I like the team, and I'll settle there. It's all business, though, and the team could always replace me." Doesn't sound like a guy that's dying to bolt to another team or the KHL.

    McCollum signed.

Howard - Monster Mrazek - McCollum Coreau - Patterson That's a pretty decent tandem at every level.

Since this was bumped sarcastically, it's staying locked for now. Dan Cleary discussion can take place in the thread about his signing.

    Mike Green to Wings?

Green isn't worth any of those four with his injury history in recent years. I'll be curious what offers are rumored in the couple months.

Adam Almquist signed with KHL club

How many times over the years have we heard that so and so is not big enough to play in the NHL? It took Rafalski forever to get to the NHL because teams thought he was too small. I'm not putting Almquist in the same category as Rafalski but using him as an example that the size argument has a tendency to be overrated. Plus he's not that small, he's 5'11, yeah he weighs only 174lbs but we've seen in the past athletes put on muscle in the offseason. With the amount of problems the Wings had on the blue line last year Almquist should have gotten a look, then we could actually debate whether he's good enough to play in the NHL or not. At the very least it would have shown a young player that he has value to the organization, which could have kept him in Grand Rapids a year longer before he would have decided to jump ship to the KHL. A lot of players don't go to the KHL because they're not good enough to play in the NHL, they go because they can get an opportunity to play and will make more money.

Adam Almquist signed with KHL club

The 2 games he played for us he looked like the best PMD on the team. His ability to run a PP is also something we're sorely lacking on our blueline. Not crazy about losing him to the KHL, I'd love it he returns eventually but with so many young d-men coming up it'll be difficult for him. I thought he would have a good chance to outbattle guys like Kindl, Lashoff, Sproul, Backman and Ouellet this season, it won't be easier in a year or two.

This is what happens when you completely ignore your defensive prospects like what Holland did with Adam last year. He essentially realized that if he didn't get a chance last year with all the problems Detroit had on the blue line he's never going to get a chance in Detroit.
