IDK who dnumber9 is, but I gotta say I like the guy! A trade involving those guys or others like them would be awesome, but it's not gonna happen. No one wants to give up anything good for our scraps. Phasing those guys out and bring up the kids is not a one season/preseason process. They're going to be phased out throughout this season and the coming ones. It's a brand new season. Ferraro Callahan Cleary and Kindl could all surprise us and come back better then ever. Well-liked guys like Tatar could suddenly disappoint. You just don't know. Ericsson surprised everyone. Hudler disappointed everyone. I think all our scraps deserve a fair shot to prove they're not what we have pigeon-holed them to be. If they don't do that I have no problem sending them down for a kid. Lets just be patient and honor the players who deserve a shot. The sudden eagerness to throw Callahan to the wolves particularly irks me. Highly praised by LGW throughout last season for his goal scoring and toughness in GR, now suddenly hie' expendable. People have 2 minutes memories.

    Holland's tournament, Holland's rules, eh.

What you'd like to see would involve sending to waivers/removing up to 5 different players. That's insane.

I don't remember your posts being so difficult to read, before.

Cleary should never have gotten more than a tryout, but now he's going to play at least 10 games to get his bonus. I'd like to see Kindl moved out for a rookie. Miller is pretty good for a 4th liner so he should stay. Jurco showed enough last year that a roster spot should be his to lose.

There is a discussion to be had though. Maybe not regarding game 1. Not all, but some of Jurco, Mantha, Pulkinnen, Ouelett, Sproul, Marchenko, Backman, and Mrazek are coming for someone’s job sooner rather than later. It’s a certainly IMO. So something’s got to give. Holland and Babcock have never exactly come off like semi-large roster personnel changes was their thing, but they might have to get used to the idea.

Love to see Kindl/Lashoff and Cleary gone by game 1. I'd jump for joy. Quincey too but that ain't happening.

I prefer these. They came with cups.

I would love to see Callahan steal Miller's spot. More grit and possibly also better scoring touch.

Some people are so damn impatient. I think a huge reason why I am patient with the way the Wings do things is because I am huge fan as the entire Red Wings organization. I am just as much a fan of the Griffins as I am the Wings. I watch 82 Wings games plus every playoff game every single year, I've watched about 90% of Griffins games the past few years and every single playoff game, as well as a scattered East Coast and Junior game to follow prospects down there as well. I don't want to see Mantha or Jurco or Pulkkinen rushed into the league because I'm quite content watching them develop their game down in Grand Rapids. I'd be happier to see three of them down in the AHL getting huge minutes, playing in all situations, possibly finish the season in the top 10 in scoring while helping the Griffins win another Calder Cup, then see any of them on the 3rd line in the NHL, playing 10-15 minutes a night and no special teams... I do believe some of these guys will be unbelievable in the next few years, and credit to the Wings organization for being patient with them and making sure they're good and ready before they're thrown into the best league in the world. Be Patient! And Watch Them Develop!

uhhhh because the preseason is not the real NHL. Half a teams roster is AHL players or worse in the preseason. Players that must clear waivers Ishould be given at least 5 to 10 games in real NHL matches before deciding the fate of possibly their entire career with the team... Demanding Mantha and Jurco play on opening night is the definition of impatient fandom. They can and should wait 3 games, 5 games, or even 10 so the rest of team can be correctly evaluated.

Starting Mantha, Jurco, Ouellet, Marchenko and so on on the starting roster, sends guys to waivers. That's throwing away scraps. Giving up players for nothing. My Callahan comment was not meant to be directed at you personally

Hard to really say at this point. A lot probably depends on Alfie's status and what players like Jurco and Mantha show during the pre-season. Cleary isn't going anywhere though for a minimum of ten games. The Red Wings could have just not signed him and they are going to honor their commitment and at least give Cleary a shot, for better or probably worse. Andersson seems like he has no place going forward. You have to figure one of Kindl or Lashoff might be in jeopardy should Marchenko or Ouellet play their way onto the team.

I'm still in disbelief that holland never upgraded the Defense, it's mind boggling. My mind is boggled!

Lashoff is pretty solid for a 7 and still has some room to grow. I'm done with Kindl though.

What in that article do you actually disagree with? Helen called for Quincey to be traded or scratched last year. She wrote that Clearly shouldn't be brought back this summer. She gets more flack than she deserves.
