Kane case headed to grand jury

Overall I've been impressed by the way that LGRW and has handled this but the one thing that has bothered me most has been the "why would a successful guy need to rape someone?!" posts. Here's the thing...in all the time I've spent with these kind of guys, the scary ones have been the most successful. They've rarely been told "no" and often see it as an insult. This has been bothering me because if you have been told that your talent means that women will always want you, it can be genuinely confusing to these guys to be told that someone doesn't want you. I don't know if Kane is guilty or what happeed that night but it's not inconceivable to me that he didn't understand WHY a woman would refuse him and therefore didn't accept it. This doesn't condemn the woman OR Kane but just that I believe that consent is a difficult issue (especially for people with status) and this is something that should be addressed with players.

So awesome that you remember her nickname. :-) And since you asked, I am doing great, thanks so much. Was the keynote speaker at an ALS fundraiser walk this weekend. Everyone laughed at my jokes. Yay me. Olivia cut the ribbon, she's almost five. Lilja had her 3rd birthday party tonight, it was a blast. Everyone told me to do voice banking while I'm still able to talk, but no one could tell us where to go. So Jen and I were instrumental in developing a voice banking program at Western Washington University. Now people have a place to go. Then I was recruited to be part of the Microsoft Eyegaze Research & Development team with Steve Gleason. He is the Man. Yes, I been driving a power wheelchair with my eyes. http://youtu.be/k9QLWB5dR9Q http://youtu.be/uK5OcERhxZo http://youtu.be/xbmx92N6C9o And I spent a week coaching at a kids basketball camp...in my power wheelchair. It was cool. Oh, and as far as eating a bag of Dick's: http://youtu.be/ecc0nbg9m-8

You insulted his ability to have an intelligent conversation, and told him "not to poke the bear" or "rattle the cage", yet you feel like he's the one instigating?

Kane case headed to grand jury

I am not assuming anything at this point. Presenting a video where professional athletes have went broke for various reasons, including being taken advantage of, isn't bias. So far, there is no proof of innocence or guilt. Either way, I hope the truth comes out for the sake of the NHL and hockey and Kane is either exonerated or put in jail accordingly.

I don't think it's a horrible signing, but it certainly continues in the (now) long-standing tradition of "questionable" cap management in Chicago. I say "questionable" only because while they're pressing their luck in a lot of ways, up to this point it really hasn't bitten them in the ass as much as people thought it would. As far as who the next to the block to fix any cap woes: Bickell is an obvious choice, as he was rumored to be a movable piece this off-season. You could always move Hossa. He's aging, but it's not as if he's in decline and he could net you some really good pieces. Maybe Shaw goes the way of Saad, in that move that most people don't think is going to happen but surprisingly does.

I'm not really sure that defenseman are more or less likely to have a long career than forwards are. I mean, there are quite a few recent examples of forwards who played well into their 40's as well. I think the determining factor is A) what type of game do you play, and B) what kind of injury history do you have. Lidstrom played a really long time because he was relatively healthy throughout his entire career, and his body didn't wear out as a result of getting pummeled for 20 years. Orr's career was short because he had injury issues. Robyn Regehr retired at 35 because he played such a physically grueling style for a number of years. There's really no recipe. If I had to handicap it I'd say Seabrook will see the end of the contract without losing too much off his game. While he does play a relatively physical game, he's not had too many injuries, and his usage will likely get easier as he ages. His offense will probably suffer as he gets older, but nobody ever relied on him for offense anyway. He'll be a capable, 38 year old, stay at home defender, leader, and all around steady blueline presence who puts up 20-25 points. And none of that will be worth 6 million bucks. But it will be a good contract for the next 4-5 years. Which is all Chicago really wants from him anyway.

    Model Tries to Blackmail Jagr

If you meet a model, make sure you don't let her take her phone to bed. Imagine how mortified you'd be if your picture was all over the internet in bed with a model.

Dang, Kindl very nearly had a hat trick last night. There might be something to this idea of his resurrecting his career under Blash. I realize the preseason isn't over, but right now he's out playing Smith for that 6th defense spot. Smith's just not got the same offense as Kindl, even with the powerplay opportunities he's getting.

These are things all players do. Jurco imo hasn't shown to be capable of making plays with the puck in the offensive zone. He's fast and big with skill but has yet to put it all together at the NHL level

I wish then pens would've had maf on net, because Larkin was playing against real NHL competition aside from the goalie. He was matched up against Malkin, don't think that matchup was accidental, they did it to see how he handled himself, and he did very, very well.

I'm also in the Red Wings are a "Kronwall-partner d-man" away from serious contention. I know Holland's forte isn't trading, but there has never been a better opportunity to be bold than now. You have Z and Pav on the downside of their careers (yet both still contribute in big ways), an insanely deep prospect pool, one of the best goalie tandems in the league. The only missing piece is a top four d-man. The Wings are in a position to contend now without selling off their key components going forward like Larkin. Realistically, there just aren't enough spots to go around as it is. If you can win another cup with the Euro Twins around without mortgaging your future, you have to take advantage of that window. Because truthfully "rebuilding on the fly" has gone quite a bit better than I think anyone in the organization even imagined. They don't have it to tear it down completely or wait on this wave of prospects to fully hit because the group this season is pretty damn good as it is.

Kane case headed to grand jury

If I were the alleged victim and the crime did take place, I would be *LOSING MY MIND* with anger at my mother for pulling some s*** like this. Now it doesn't matter if a crime took place. Mom's actions (fairly or unfairly) call daughter's credibility into question, and destroy prosecutor's faith in the case. Who wants to take this to trial with the potential for getting egg on your face, even if a grand jury votes to indict? What a ******* sideshow...

    Free agents this off season

I think Nyquist will get something like 4.25 - 4.75 for 5 years. Don't be surprised if it's higher Looks like Boston is just being loyal to guys like Bergeron and Chara and otherwise doing a complete rebuild. Don't want to give out big contracts yet I suppose
