I hope Montreal never wins another Cup again. The whole thing was stupid from start to finish, but trading a guy who was put in a bad situation and made the best of it despite the problems it will cause his family is reprehensible. Shame on Montreal for kissing the league's butt. If the league just had to get Scott out of there, they could have done something to skew the voting. These things aren't like elections. They could have done something to fake a new result and credited the fans with "coming to their senses" or some stupid thing. They'd have saved more face even if they'd been caught than they have with this.

    Over The Garden Wall

Over the Garden Wall The wonderfully whimsical, yet haunting tale of two brothers who find themselves lost in a mysterious wood. FEATURING: Elijah Wood as WIRT Collin Dean as GREG Christopher Lloyd as THE WOODSMAN And others! Including Tim Curry! John Cleese! and more! The show is a 10 part miniseries, with each episode chapter at approximately 12 minutes long. SO ITS NOT A LONG INVESTMENT LIKE BREAKING BAD OR WALKING DEAD! You can crunch this one out in a couple hours and come out on the other side in time for dinner! It has spectacular animation and beautifully crafted landscapes reminiscent of a Miyazaki film, so if you're into artistic design its worth the two hour investment in that alone. BUT WAIT! The story is excellent also! At first glance it seems like a simple children's tale of two boys trying to make their way home after getting lost in the woods. But its so much deeper than that! The writing is clever, managing to be simultaneously charming and horrifying, again the comparison to Miyazaki is warranted here. Except there's elements of Tim Burton as well, without being so over the top about it (a plus!) As it was initially aired on Cartoon Network and the target audience at first glance appears to be kids, you may think this isn't going to be very interesting. But you couldn't be more wrong. While the story caters to kids there's also plenty here for adults as well (in fact much of the story's deeper stuff will go over most kids' heads). Symbolism like whoa! Literary references! Existentialism! Metaphors! What are you waiting for! PLUS THERES MUSIC! Who can forget that classic hit POTATOES AND MOLASSES?? Or my personal favorite A COURTING SONG! Yes there's a song for everyone in this gem! And the best part? Chapter 1 is on YOUTUBE for free! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? Over the Garden Wall is an EMMY AWARD WINNING classic worth watching! AND THATS A ROCK FACT! Echolalia gives 5 stars, recommended for all ages

The number of man games stat is an interesting one, but are all man-games lost created equal? Losing a Datsyuk or Zetterberg to injury is much more of an impact to a team than if it was a seventh defenseman or spare forward on the IR.

After he got hurt and our penalty kill dropped, anyone who says he isn't important to our team, or that he can be easily replaced needs to have their heads examined. Dudes a warrior too, I thought he'd be blind after that skate to the face last season. Ha.Yep, I've got two left... I'll also have to learn to be much more specific with the wishes.

Looks like it's going to be Jurco/Glen/Pulk for sure. Unless something changes tomorrow.

Zetterberg was the best player that year (yes even better than Datsyuk). Missing him that season was a big part of why we were so s***** and barely got into the playoffs - let alone suck the entire series. Datsyuk showed up for the playoffs (as in he was our MVP) but that still was not enough. Having a healthy Z wuda been nice.

So a fourth line of Jurco Glendenning Pulkkinen, or Andy Glendenning Pulkkinen... I'm hoping for the former.

Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

I was born at the end of 71, so I was pretty young when it happened, but I remember it very clearly. As far as the importantance of Drew, I think in many ways that the meat and potatoes guys, the PKers, grinders, third pair D often get overlooked since the eyes are drawn to the superstars and flashier players or goalies.

There's some very straight forward raw data we do know: Z missed 3 games and Alfie missed 2 games due to injury. Who from the Bruins missed games? None that I can see. The only players who didn't play their full 12 playoff games that year were prospects (Mezaros, Kevin Miller) and were most likely scratched Excuse vs. Explanation is the difference of view point we have. I don't get why many don't want to look at injury as a consideration. I assume you think having Z is a good thing. If yes, not having him might have made us a worse team and played a part in us losing. Why do most people think the Habs have sunk in the standings? Should we not consider their lack of Price?

Despicable. Joke or not, whether he "belongs" or not, the way that the NHL, Phoenix, and Montreal handled this situation is nothing short of despicable. I will go out of my way to not watch the game at this point.

They always look at the season head to head matchup. It's just watch they do. They don't completely throw it to the side. And I'm not arguing that Washington is better or worse. I'm simply stating what the head to head matchup is and statistically speaking we've given them a good challenge in the season. They've blown almost everyone else out in head to head matchups out of the top 8 eastern teams. We were looking at who Detroit's biggest challenges will be and then mentioned who Washington's biggest challenges will be. To me out of all the teams Detroit will be Washington's biggest challenge (as I stated before 2 pages ago), regardless how big that challenge is (could be a tiny one). Detroit's biggest challenge will be any team that will rattle them as Boston did 2 years ago and most teams that have out-muscled them this year.

So let me get this straight, John Scott gets this entire situation thrust on him and his first thoughts were to thank his teammates and think about what a cool experience it will be for his family? What a dick. Definitely not the kind of "boy next door" role model the NHL has been pushing for years.

Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that volunteering to sit out of the all star game got you a one game suspension? I recall Lidstrom and Datsyuk having to sit out a game because they chose not to go. Now the league WANTS a player to voluntarily sit out? How convenient moral ambivalence can be!
  15. 1 point
That's true, but that's only one player who doesn't have playoff experience as oppose Ny, Tat, DK and I think Sheahan and Jurco that year vs. Boston. Also, Larkin jumped into the NHL without transition problems and the WJ and WC - He seems pretty good at jumping into pressure situation and performing. Hopefully that continues in the playoffs.

I'm also a little annoyed that Don Cherry, Mike Milbury, and the rest of the pro fighting crowd, have remained mum regarding Scott. How fickle. You're going to go on and on about how great fighting is, and then don't support a fighter that's getting railroaded. Makes you question their motives for sure.

Here's another thing I'd say about Scott. All those people who championed the "vote Scott" campaign (most notable Puck Daddy) need to do the right thing and publicize the hell out of this. Maybe even start a petition or boycott. They had as much to do with this as anyone, and it would be a shame if they threw up their hands after essentially getting him involved in this in the first place.

Red Wings at the Halfway Point

Aren't you arguing against yourself? The 05/06 Wings were the best regular season team and won the presidents trophy and got knocked out in the first round. Hence, regular season doesn't mean jack. Washington could be the better team in the season but get knocked out first round of the playoffs for all that it matters. The same thing could be said about Detroit and Anaheim in 2003. Giguere single highhandedly shut us out of the playoffs. Tampa had the season series on us last year and we took them to game 7 in the playoffs.

The entire Montreal franchise is a joke for agreeing to this farce of a trade. They have no intention of calling up Scott and are basically kissing the league's ass.
  21. 1 point
let us not forget these are high performance athletes we are talking about, for a regular person to undergo these kind of injuries, surgeries and healing processes is harder than to a professional player and Drew is as strong of a player as they come, I reiterate he's gonna end up more machine than man. So best of luck on all that's to come in Drew's way and hope to see him well and hopefully back on the ice soon.
