Good for him, hope he gets a decent shot.

The writing was on the wall with McCollum. He had some decent years in Grand Rapids, but there was never going to be an opportunity for him in Detroit. With Mrazek looking like he will be the guy for the foreseeable future, Coreau looking like he could become a solid NHL backup, the addition of Pasquale, as well as Paterson looking to battle for a spot in Grand Rapids, and the glut of other guys in the system... Glad to see McCollum get a shot elsewhere, and I hope they sign him to a contract.

Last week Tom McCollum reached an agreement with the Kings for a Professional Try Out. Full Article http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index.ssf/2016/08/tom_mccollum_former_red_wings.html

I was under the impression he was under contract for one more season but I probably just wasn't paying enough attention Good for him, he has potential to be a good backup. He stepped up this season but it seems like Coreau stepped up even more.

Its not a question of trading "prospects" for a middle pairing defenseman, its a question of trading "top prospects" for a middle pairing defenseman. And if you'd do that you're crazy.

Agreed....I dont think many people would be complaining if we traded AA or Mantha for someone like PK Subban. Using Miggy is an awful example as he was an elite MVP caliber talent.

    What Are You Playing?

The Taken King update was terrific, no doubt. However, the April Update (known lovingly as the Taken Spring) is where the game REALLY hit it's mark. (I've played Destiny pretty much exclusively since launch/vanilla, so I can easily say the game is at a point where it's the best it's ever been). The April Update eliminated the "Double RNG" for gear drops in the raid, and other end-game content. Previously, you had the first RNG, which was even getting a drop at all. Then the 2nd RNG kicked in, which was what light level the gear dropped at. You could get gear drops that were well below your light level, which caused many players to stop grinding to get to the light cap. NOW, any piece of legendary equipment dropped in the raid/end-game is guaranteed to be no lower than your current light level, and can max out at something like 5 points above. So there's constant progress towards your goals. I really wish you were on PS4. I'd be glad to run any of the raids or Iron Banner with you. Oh, and Rise of Iron is out in a little over a month. Things will only get better then. New missions, raid, strikes, gear, and (what I'm MOST excited for) the ability to choose what type of reward you get from faction level up packages! Woohoo!

I'll have to disagree, but of course theres no way of knowing because its all speculation Larkin, prior to the end of the past season, had never played 82 games in a season before. NCAA teams play roughly 40 games a year, at a decreased level of intensity. Add the travel schedule and pressure of the NHL, and its pretty easy to get winded at the halfway point of the season. I fully expect Larkin to be more consistent this season.

There was some idiot that kept reporting all the games on youtube. It wasn't the NHL at all just someone who was butthurt about something and he kept reporting all the nhl games. It got to the point that most of the good youtube streamers wouldn't post the links on reddit anymore and you had to pm them to get it. That still didn't help a lot because the guy doing the reporting would still get the links eventually.

People seriously over valuing prospects, as usual

That would mean Holland actually making a trade

"It's just the way the fourth line plays". This right here is my biggest issue. The 4th line shouldn't necessarily have to play that way, but the guys we have on our 4th line do. We could go with a 4th line of players sitting / sent down, Jurco - Athanasiou - Mantha, and actually generate some offense, but instead we'll have the "shut-down" line of Miller - Glendening - Ott...
