I didn't accuse you of being negative. I accused you of masking the essential baseness of your posts under an air of condescension and sarcasm. I'm sorry that AA hasn't played more games. I have no control over that. But it's all we have to judge his NHL career, and so far his scoring rate has been elite. As is, obviously, his speed. Both of which support my point. If you disagree that his scoring rate has been elite and is inflated because of sample size you could have said so to begin with, instead of "Elite. People keep using that word, I don't think it means what they think it does.". But I suspect being patronizing on the internet really just sorta does it for you.

I obviously know what the word elite means. And I wasn't even saying AA was an "elite" player, like Seguin is. I was saying that he had an elite skill set. If he utilizes that skill set each and every shift, against top competition, he'll be an elite player. It was all pretty clear in my original post. Dickie just thinks being cynical and condescending masks the fact that he hasn't contributed anything productive or intelligent to this forum in years. It doesn't, after 2,000,000 snarky "Blashill/Abby/Helm sux!" posts we're all pretty hip to his shtick.

He's above average in size, his skating is better than all but 1% of the league, he's in the top 5% of the league in even strength scoring per 60 minutes of play, and is in the same percentile in shot generation. Seems like elite level skill to me. But as I insinuated above his ability to do that every single shift, against top players, hasn't been proven. So he's not an elite player. Just has the skill. Edit: I stand corrected. He's in the top 1% of the league at 5on5 scoring per 60 minutes of play.

Coreau needs to work on his glove. Blashill should have played mrazek tonight anyway. He played good his last game and should have won had the team shown up. He is the goalie the wings want to get going so when he finally does what does blashill do? Sits him for a week. Nonetheless i expect him to start the 2nd. Apart from that our team defense continues to be horrible. Hopefully blashill is fired by the end of this trip.

Predictably you've decided to argue that AA isn't an elite player. Something I made clear, TWICE, that I wasn't saying. He's been in the top 1% of NHL players in even strength scoring for the last two seasons. That seems fairly elite thus far too. Again, I said he's got an elite skill set which you seem to agree with as far as skating. His scoring rate is elite too. Did you want to address what I've actually said, or just keep arguing against the strawman you created?

AA had 14:44 of ice time, Nyquist had 15:42, Nyquist played 58 seconds more. You make it sound like one played 16min while the other played 5. When you take into account real life game consequences (ie. A guy gets hit and takes a shift off etc) and the fact that they won 4-0 so Blashill easily could have been giving guys like Nielsen and Vanek rest, the ice time seems fine to me. Saying it "sucked" seems a bit over the top.

I did not know this. Seems like all of AA's attitude problems magically went away when he got to Barrie. Although he got a lot more ice time there too. We might have a chicken & egg scenario. Does the player have an attitude problem which leads to less ice time? Or does getting less ice time lead to players attitude problem?

That was fun! I don't know why it took Blashill so long to put AA, Vanek, and Nielsen together.

I don't see how a coach can possibly watch a kid like AA play night in and night out and not want him on your team full-time. I am entirely baffled.

Fire Blashill. Fire Martin. They started signing the crap contracts after they hired him to be their capologist. Put out the word that EVERYONE is available at the right price. The right price for some is a lot, but I'd move Larkin or anyone else if it meant getting a #1 D-man. Guys like Ericsson, Helm, and the rest of the bad contracts can be had for a conditional 7th. Tell the new coach that I want to see Jurco on a scoring line for at least 15 games, and I expect him to let the kids play even if they have a bad period or have some defensive issues. I want to see what the kids can do. Do a serious evaluation of the scouting staff and get rid of anyone who isn't pulling their weight. I'd focus on making sure I have the best possible scouts and pay them well.

Discuss the internal prices for every(!) player and if they are met or close to be met that player is gone. Let it be known leaguewide by leeking it to Dreger, MacKenzie and Lebrun who is available and give them a hint at the price-tag and needs of the team. Of course if the name is Larkin, Mantha others have to pay a lot next category is AA, Danny D. Hire Gallant as an assistant and give Blashill till the trade dead line to develop the young guys without looking at the standings too much. Start looking at the top 10 picks and prepare for every possible scenario. Send scouts to Winnipeg (Trouba), Anaheim (Fowler) and work the phones till something gets done. Call up Bertuzzi and other AHL talent and evaluate if they could be part of the rebuild. Trade Vanek, Green as long as their value is high and create as much cap space as possible to take advantage of teams in cap hell come next June. Prepare for a successor and offer to take more of a Burke, Linden or Nichelson role once my contract is up. So the plan would be: 1. evaluation of everyone and everything, including scouts responsible for defenseman. 2. everyone no exception is available 3. get as many prospects, picks as possible 4. play the kids and get the best possible lottery odds
